La Mamounia ha spento 100 candeline con un tributo a Marrakech, la città cui è legata la fama della struttura e che a sua volta la Mamounia ha contribuito a far crescere di notorietà. C'è profumo di stelle fin dai primi istanti del party che sabato sera ha illuminato il cielo di fuochi d'artificio e droni luminosi. Tra abiti firmati e gioielli di lusso, scorreva champagne e gioia di vivere nei giardini settecenteschi, regalati dal sultano alaouita Mohammed Ben Abdallah come dono di nozze al figlio. Gli oltre 13 ettari di uliveto e frutteto hanno fatto da quinta allo spettacolo da circa 7 milioni di euro organizzato per commemorare il secolo di grandeur del palazzo amato tra gli altri da Churchill e da Hitchcock. C'erano gli stilisti di Marrakech, e tra i molti anche l'italiano Romeo Gigli, gli attori (Francois Clouzet, tra i pochi senza smoking d'ordinanza), gli chef stellati come Francois Bento, gli imprenditori habitué dell'hotel arrivati da tutto il mondo. Il party cade dopo tre giorni di festeggiamenti e cene dedicate all'anniversario. Il clou dello spettacolo è sul palco costruito sulla piscina dell'hotel. Dopo la danza di figure del coreografo Sadek Berrabah, tocca a Mika, che concede al pubblico in abito da gran sera una 'Underwater' accompagnato dall'orchestra del Marocco. Poi, tra 'Grace Kelly', 'Relax', 'Take it easy' e 'Happy ending' il successo è assicurato con le gran dame in lungo che seguono la pop star libanese in un karaoke liberatorio. La torta di compleanno è firmata dalla star dei pasticceri di Francia, Pierre Hermé, e arriva subito dopo il concerto, poco prima dei fuochi d'artificio che accendono la notte di Marrakech. Il giorno successivo l’hotel La Mamounia, icona della città rossa e simbolo della nazione, ha lanciato sui suoi social una raccolta fondi per aiutare le popolazioni coinvolte dal sisma. Oggi, a un mese dall’evento, la struttura alberghiera ha voluto dare un segno di speranza e rinascita donando un milione di euro e organizzando un party per celebrare i primi 100 anni della struttura. Per l’occasione il giardino dell’hotel è stato trasformato in un set da favola, tra gli alberi secolari dove hanno soggiornato nomi come Charlie Chaplin o Sir Winston Churchill, che qui dipingeva i suoi celebri quadri, e a cui è dedicato uno dei bar della struttura di recente ridisegnata dagli architetti Patrick Jouin e Sanjit Manku che hanno ripensato le parti comuni dell’hotel traghettandolo nel futuro. A sostenere la causa del Paese sono intervenuti nomi celebri come l’attrice Marisa Berenson, che ha partecipato alla cena placé da oltre 300 persone in giardino e al party in cui oltre 2000 invitati che hanno assistito all’esibizione dei migliori artisti locali come Oum, Ahmed Soultan e Sofiane Parmat, seguite dal concerto della popstar Mika prima dei fuochi d’artificio che hanno illuminato a giorno la città in segno di rinascita dell’intero Paese. La Mamounia (lamamounia.com) si è arricchita di un ristorante italiano, L’italien, con le creazioni dello chef Jean Georges Vongerichten e rimane comunque il punto di partenza previlegiato per scoprire la città.
