Flowers for the 2024 tour

Recommended Posts

I don't know where to post it so I do it here.

It concerns all concerts from this year.

So I don't want to call it "fan action".

I propose to wear big flowers on our clothes.

I am testing some technics to create fabric flowers.

But I found as well a really nice fabric flowers in a supermarket at the stand with home decorations.

It is about adding a safety pin on it or any other way to attach it to for ex. a jacket.

And of course the bigger the better 😀

We still have time to create or buy a flower. They are pretty hard to destroy so we can use it for several gigs. And they fit to any outfit: a jacket, a shirt, a dress or a T-shirt.

An organza made flower.

It's worth an extra thread, I think. Feel free to adjust the title, if you prefer another one.

I like the organza flower! Did you make it?

Thank you Karin.

So here we can post our ideas and photos with the flowers fans made/bought.

Yes, I made the organza flower. It's quite easy to make and the flower is very fluffy.

I recorded a tutorial yesterday.

This was the flower I bought at Tedi's, I removed the stem and instead attached a pin (with hot glue).

And this fluffy flower pin is from Bijoux Brigitte

I think it's really cool when the flower is big :original:  I love the white one!

I would like to make a light pink one but I have to find some fabric.

I have just tested a new idea . Very simple. Only 4 rectangles, a needle and thread.

I love the result! Big and fluffy.

I will prepare a tutorial tomorrow.

And I will make a bright colour this time. White or blue.

It looks stunning!

I manged to create a tutorial for the flowers very easy to make with organza, tule or any other light but stiff fabric.

I used 4 squares as a general rule. But I made one flower (dark green) with 5 squares and it looks fantastic!

So here is a short video with the final results and a link to YouTube tutorial.

So if you prefer to make your own flower instead of buying one, here it is.

These are lovely, thank you Anna!

Why is it better to tear the fabric rather than cut it? Is it to get the frayed edge for a fluffy effect?

Organza is a very slipy fabric. It's almost impossible to cut it properly. And then it starts to fray. You have short threads all over the place.

When you tear it you just need to remove a few threads from edges and it stops fraying.

Well, you just need very sharp scissors to do it, no chance with normal paper scissors. My 2010 space costume skirt was made of Organza, that's how know, lol! 😅 I guess I still have some of the fabric left somewhere, so I can use that for flowers.

Thanks for the video tutorials! And also for the tip that it stops fraying when you tear it and remove a few threads - I like the fluffy effect! :biggrin2:

Btw, this gives me another "costumes fanaction" idea - for some of the gigs we could all dress as the different Mika albums? I remember the girl with the clouds suit from the Paris signing, that'd be one great example for QTTFT. My space costume is for TBWKTM, and I remember seeing some fantastic LICM designed jackets / outfits over the years too. MNIMH is a bit harder maybe... or very easy, with just a face painting. I remember for some of the Revelation tour gigs, some had their names written on their cheeks like it is on Mika's album cover.

Something like this maybe? It's too plain on the front though.

Or this kids jacket in an adult size. :naughty:

Or t shirt

I guess if anyone is handy with fabric paints, they could do it at home.

New testing.

One flower from a green tule.

Two organzas: white and blue made with a different technique.

I have to buy red or pink or yellow fabric.

Seeing Mika's story he will use very saturated colours for his outfits 😜

Bought a couple of large artificial peonies in the supermarket, on special offer for clearance. I'm thinking, trim the stems, and use a lot of large safety pins to keep in place. :lol3:
