Wendi
I could have been going to T-in-the Park - and Mika is performing there - but I will be in France on holiday :crybaby:
mandilambi
Aw, that's horrible, Wendi! I hope you get another opportunity to see him live. I forgot to say in my earlier post that I hope Mika will eventually tour here in the States. I bet he is so much fun to see live!
Fillip
nice thread! I've been going to gigs since I was 13..my first gig was Queen in 1974 at the Free Trade Hall manchester. Since then I've been to literally 100's of them averaging, over the past 20 or so years around 30-40 per year I also travel far and wide ...many times going to Europe and even the US and Canada if something takes my fancy This year I have lined up (apart from Mika) Muse in Luxembourg in May, both Muse Wembley dates in june, hopefully going to the Oxegen festival in Ireland ..probably Vital festival too, I also hope to go to Verona, again to see Muse, in July . No doubt I'll be going to see other stuff too as dates for various gigs/tours get announced !
mandilambi
That's a great gig to start off with, Fillip! 70's Queen has always been my favorite decade as far as they were concerned! I would also love to see Muse. I just recently got into them through their newest record and I think they'd be super cool to see live!
Believe In Fairies
Oh gosh who've I seen. I totally don't remember. Hmm, let me think, quite a few when I was younger but non memorable enough for me to actually y'know...remember. *Ponders for a while* Celine Dion in Vegas, not my choice as I went with my parents and they wanted to see her and I didn't want to sit in the hotel by myself, lol. *Snort* I missed Keane at the Edinburgh Festival due to Tom Chaplin's little rehab problem and they cancelled the date grr. *Dies* Muse at the Edinburgh Festival. Front row baby! Woooooooo totally worth losing a shoe over! Muse again shortly after that at Sheffield Arena. Haha, going to see Muse at Wembley - running trend here? Maaaybe. *Dances* Josh Groban - 25th June coming (OMG! So excited I might just fall over.) And a bunch of Cirque du Soleil shows and the Blue Man Group...but they're not bands so totally don't count, heh heh. I need to get out more. mandilambi
I read about Keane's cancelled shows due to Tom going into rehab. That must have been really annoying.
RAK1
My first gig was The Thompson Twins in my home town of Chippenham, way back in the '80s. Since then I have been to so many, like Dexys Midnight Runners, Blur, Alanis Morrisette, Glastonbury twice so far, Live8 (both in London and Edinburgh). I saw Lady Sovereign at one of her first gigs supporting Basement Jaxx in Bristol (Goldie Looking Chain were there too). I saw last year; Will Young in Cardiff ( I held out on this for ages, but his new stuff impressed me, and it was to cheer up my best friend). Scissor Sisters in Exeter and at Wembley Arena. The Flaming Lips at Hammersmith Apollo. Basement Jaxx at Wembley Arena. And this year, should have seen Mika in Dublin, but couldn't get there in the end, but will be at Birmingham most definitely, hopefully Glastonbury, providing I can get through to get a ticket, Mika's autumn gigs (when he announces them), maybe George Michael if I can get a ticket (missed out last year) and, fingers crossed JC Chasez if his CD actually gets released at all this year (should have been end of last year, but don't get me started about that). Believe In Fairies
I read about Keane's cancelled shows due to Tom going into rehab. That must have been really annoying. It was seriously annoying, we had the tickets and everything and two days before my dad rang me up and told me it was cancelled because he'd gone into rehab. It wasn't a particularly successful Festival really for us as we didn't manage to get hold of tickets to see the Dresden Dolls either (Although I did get a wave from them as they went past in a horse drawn carriage). But kudos to Tom for getting over it and being back on the road again, I'll just have to try and get tickets to see them elsewhere. *Nods*
meimei88
Cool - I have to admit that Mika at KOKO was my first proper gig (I am so ashamed!) My amazing night totally made up for it!! Not many gigs scheduled at the moment Ross Copperman on Tuesday! (20th March) Mika on 14th May!!

Hope you get the chance to see 'em again. They are lots of fun live! And meimei88, hope you have fun seeing Mika. You will have to give us a report afterwords! dcdeb
nice thread!I've been going to gigs since I was 13..my first gig was Queen in 1974 at the Free Trade Hall manchester. OK, since Fillip was brave enough to admit this, I'll come clean, too. My first show was Elton John in 1975 when I was 15. I wore satin pants and jacket and blue glitter on my eyelids! Followed by David Bowie the following year. x 2 Yes, that was a LONG time ago! Over the years my musical tastes meandered -- I saw acts as varied as Culture Club to Madonna to Village People (anyone remember them?) to the Cars, Wang Chung, Beastie Boys, to James Taylor twice to Human League to Boston to The Pretenders to Billy Joel to Chris Isaak to the B-52s... I just love all kinds of music! But recently I haven't been excited enough to spend the dollars to see anyone... and now that I'm motivated enough to see MIKA, he's not coming here! Oh well... I'll be ready when he finally makes his way here, as I'm sure he will! He MUST! dcdeb

Hey, I just saw Blue Man Group in NYC a few weeks ago -- they were fabulous! Not a band, but still a great show! And Cirque du Soleil absolutely rocks -- I've seen their show in Orlando three times and it never gets old! There's nothing like a live show, no matter what kind, IMO! dcdeb

mandilambi
dcdeb - I agree, there is nothing like a live show. The feeling of seeing live acts is really like no other! Lissy - you think you're geeky for keeping your concert details! I am a huge geek cos I have made a "Concert Book," which includes my ticket stubs, the setlist of the show, my top five favorite performances, pictures (some professional, some personal) from the shows, and reviews (some professional, some personal), too. Lissy
mandilambi, That's awesome! You are much geekier than me. I keep my ticket stubs and setlists of some of the shows I've been to in my scrapbook. I don't have a separate "concert book." I never even thought to save reviews and article clippings about the shows too! Perhaps I should start!
