  1. I added The Clash. Billy Joel is already on there, between Bad Company and Boston. I was going to have to smack myself if I'd forgotten him, because Piano Man is one of my favorite songs. And all those psychadelic drugs were everywhere in music back then. You can just look at album covers like Disraeli Gears or In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and not even listen to the music and be able to tell.
  2. I'm a Lad! So I'll add my 'hot list' 1. Scarlett Johansson (just plain hot!) 2. Catherine Zeta-Jones 3. Stevie Nicks (I don't care that she's old enough to be my grandmother, she just has that awesome mysterious/mystical quality) 4. Alicia Keys (beautiful and talented!) 5. Keira Knightley
  3. I added Heep. I disagree about Floyd not being classic rock though - they pretty much fall into both classic rock and psychadelic rock categories. I think the standard definition of classic rock is pretty much anything from the mid 60's to the late 80's.
  4. 25 songs! Thats crazy...you wouldn't see most of the artists nowdays trying to do that many with no break. But then, Elton always has rocked. This is actually my favorite Elton vid - him playing Piano Man with Billy Joel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WXjU2i99HE
  5. I've been planning to give them a listen for ages now, but I haven't gotten around to it. I know one of their members went on to be part of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (don't know which one) And I've been meaning to check them out as well.
  6. Some really good Queen songs are short for some reason...Nevermore, Dear Friends, Lily of the Valley. Nevermore is just one of the amazing pieces to the masterpiece that is Queen II.
  7. Album of the week # 3 - Led Zeppelin I, by Led Zeppelin This is probably my favorite Led Zeppelin album. Everyone says Zoso is their best album, but I think LZI is more consistent and just an overall better album than Zoso. Led Zeppelin was one of the bands that was essential for laying the groundwork for future rock, hard rock, and heavy metal music (the others being Black Sabbath and Deep Purple) And when it was released all those years ago, LZI was different than anything else. Definitely a record every rock fan should hear at least once, but it takes more than one listen to truly appreciate it.
  8. Why have I been thinking Freddie's birthday was in July? I'm such a terrible fan... Anyway... HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREDDIE MERCURY, THE GREATEST SINGER AND PERFORMER OF ALL TIME!!!!!!
  9. He's amazing. He's such an awesome live performer, and he has an amazing voice.
  10. The next Franz Ferdinand album The next Louis XIV album The Queen + Paul Rodgers album The next Jason Mraz album. All those are as of yet untitled, but are all supposed to be out in early/mid 2008.
  11. Has anyone heard Louis XIV's cover of The Flash Gordon Theme? Its actually pretty good since it doesn't have the cheesy bits of film soundbite that Queen's version does. Its on their Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/louisxiv
  12. Album of the Week #2: Boston - Boston Boston is one of my favorite of the arena rock bands of the 70's and 80's. Their debut album features the precise guitar playing of Tom Scholz, and the octave shattering voice of Brad Delp (One of the best singers EVER. period. ) The album has some of the band's best songs, and some of the most played songs on classic rock radio, such as More Than A Feeling (the greatest arena rock song EVER.), Foreplay/Long Time, and Rock and Roll Band. Boston's debut album is also the 11th bestselling album of all time, and is still the best-selling debut album of all time, and its an album that I highly recommend.
  13. Ah, they'll be back. Mika addiction is a powerful thing.
  14. Freddie's being treated as a piece of meat?! Oh wow...shame on all of you girls who have been objectifying poor Freddie!
  15. Mika as President...how awesome would the country be then! I'll be glad to vote for him with you! Its too bad only people born here in the US can be President...
  16. Haha. Mine was sorta like that. It was pretty much a whirlwind. Just try and get all your applications in as early as you can and you'll be fine. I was so glad when graduation finally came, but then when I got home after it I actually started crying because it had set in that it was finally over, and I wouldn't be seeing all the friends and teachers I had known for 4 years much anymore.
  17. I start college on monday. But my schedule is pretty good. on wednesdays and fridays I don't have any classes until around 10:00 AM, and then on tuesdays and thursdays I only have one class and its not until 2:00 in the afternoon. My earliest class is on monday at 9:00, but thats the one I don't even need.
  18. I've heard of him before as the guy who ensured that Bohemian Rhapsody was a hit Too bad about him passing on, though.
  19. I love how he got credited as that for their first album. I'd be pretty angry if I were him...Imagine how awkward that must've been when the band first got their copy and were all excited, and then someone notices that John's name is on there in reverse.
  20. I've updated the first post with member numbers for people who requested them recently (JeyJen, Esperia75, and Kinga) and I added Janis Joplin to the artist list. ...As for the stuff about Cate Blanchett being one of the people playing Bob Dylan, that is weird, unless its going to be one of those really artistic noir type films.
  21. They have this section over there for any artists and bands other than the Killers, and the MCR thread was the most active one, and there were several other people who hated MCR , and they were friends with the Admin, so she gave the excuse that she was getting complaints from 'longtime members' about the thread and that since it was a Killers website, she had every right to close it. Someone started a new thread awhile later, but it hasn't really been the same, so I usually stick to other band threads I like over there.
