  1. hahaha. Well for a long time the Killers were my number one favorite band of recent years, then I sorta just stopped listening to them...I bent over backwards to get all of the bonus track for Sam's Town, (there was no way I wasn't going to have Where The White Boys Dance, great song, but I'd want it just for the title ) and I liked Sam's Town, but never loved it like Hot Fuss. So I started discovering all of the older bands like Queen, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc., and the Killers sorta fell off my radar until the other day when I randomly decided to listen to Sam's Town all the way through, so I kinda love it now.
  2. So I've been listening to Sam's Town a lot lately, and I think that I've finally fallen in love with it. So much so that the Killers are one of my top ten artists again.
  3. haha...they'd probably not give you a warning for anything like that, but it'd get fixed pretty quick. I remember for a project awhile back I was rushing looking for info on Woodrow Wilson and printed his page out to take notes on. I didn't really read it until after I'd printed it, and when I did, I noticed the vandalism, right after the first paragraph. It was really hilarious, though, something about him liking to go skinny-dipping and bathing with his friends and singing and stuff. :roftl:
  4. Wikipedia is, despite what people think, pretty reliable. I think a study was conducted examining Wikipedia along with the other online encyclopedia like Britannica and whatnot, and they were all found to be around the same percent in accuracy. Pages that people really need reliable info from like articles about political figures, countries, events, etc, tend to be monitored pretty closely by administrators for vandalism, and when a page does get vandalized, it gets fixed very quickly. Pages like Mika's or other entertainers and celebrities are usually the ones where the most vandalism and inaccuracy happens, but those get fixed pretty quick too. I have an account there, and I admit that I have vandalized some pages of politicians a couple times, but for one of those I got a warning that if I did it again my account would be deleted.
  5. I think I'll probably learn most of Mika's songs first when I learn guitar. My friend who's going to teach me played some stuff over the phone last night for me, and that got me inspired to learn. I think I should be able to figure out the piano on my own once I learn how to read sheet music.
  6. I love your username, Mika Owns Me! :roftl: I don't know how to play any of his songs but I plan on trying to learn this summer. I especially want to learn Grace Kelly on the piano. And some parts on guitar, since my friend is going to teach me guitar this summer too.
  7. I think its official that he is. ....so now his wish of having his son one day wear his pink Dior jacket will come true. If its a boy, that is.
  8. yeah, you're right. There never were as many Queen fans here in the States compared to the rest of the world. For me its the other way around about the fanbase, as I'd never even heard of Paul Rodgers before he and Queen got together. I may buy the Return of the Champions live thing this weekend and see how much I like it. To be honest, when I first got into Queen, I thought the new project was Roger Taylor + Queen, and I imagined him belting out all of their classics from behind his drum kit (that would be awesome) ,and I kept wondering why it was Roger Taylor + Queen, since he was in Queen since they started ...then I found out it was Queen + Paul Rodgers.
  9. My grandmother, my cousin, and myself were extras in the movie Losing Isaiah, which Halle Berry starred in. That was ages ago, and I was too young to really remember it.
  10. I'm still up in the air about the whole Paul Rodgers deal...I'll be glad for new music from Roger and Brian, but I think they could have resurrected Queen without Paul, since both Roger and Brian are excellent singers. Roger would easily be able to handle the harder rock side of the band, and Brian could stick to the softer stuff. But still, I'm willing to give Queen + Paul Rodgers a try.
  11. One of my favorite Queen songs of the later years. Probably my favorite one that was done without Freddie...Brian's vocals are so strong on here. Such a sad song, but so beautiful. Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWUkJIt1fZw Lyrics No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) A hand above the water An angel reaching for the sky Is it raining in Heaven - Do you want us to cry ? And everywhere the broken-hearted On every lonely avenue No-one could reach them No-one but you One by one Only the Good die young They're only flying to close to the sun And life goes on - Without you... Another tricky situation I get to drowning in the Blues And I find myself thinking Well - what would you do ? Yes! - it was such an operation Forever paying every due Hell, you made a sensation (sensation) You found a way through - and (You found a way through) One by one Only the Good die young They're only flying to close to the sun We'll remember - Forever... And now the party must be over I guess we'll never understand The sense of your leaving Was it the way it was planned ? And so we grace another table And raise our glasses one more time There's a face at the window And I ain't never, never saying goodbye... One by one Only the Good die young They're only flying to close to the sun Crying for nothing Crying for no-one No-one but you
  12. I know! his friend just left them and told him to give 'em away or do whatever with them. My brother isn't really into rock, but he knows I am, so it was a good thing I was there to save all that excellent music.
  13. Congrats to all the new moderators! :yay: :yay:
  14. Okay, so I had some awesome luck today. I go to visit my brother, and he's got all these old cd's his roomate left that he was about to throw out, and he tells me to look through them to see if there's anything I want. So guess what I find? all of Roger Taylor's solo cds. ALL of them! the three he did with The Cross, and his four solo ones. I nearly had a sheer heart attack (pun intended! ) when I saw them.
  15. http://vixy.net this lets you download youtube stuff in whatever format you want-mp4, wmv, avi, etc.
  16. I don't really buy into the whole 'Paul is dead" stuff. But even if it were true, I don't think it would really matter, since I like this 'Paul', whether he's the real one or not, a lot.
  17. I do know that whatever it is, its pretty far up there in the upper octaves. I know in the beginning of Relax, Take It Easy he hits some amazing notes, but I have no clue about figuring out what it could be.
  18. Yes! I really wished Roger had done all of the lead vocals on Sheer Heart Attack, since it was his song and he did sing all of it on an early version. Oh, and Roger did front his own rock band! it was back during the 80's during Queen's down time between tours and albums and whatnot. it was called The Cross, and they released several albums, all of which are hard to find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cross
  19. I think pretty much the only Queen song where's its possible to get confused over who's singing is on '39, or White Queen, from Queen II, where Freddie's sings in a very soft manner. I mentioned being confused over '39 when I first heard it, and dosen't help that all the live performances I found of it on youtube had Freddie doing the lead vocals I think the key to differentiating on those confusing bits in the Queen discography is to listen to how loud the person singing is. Brian tended to in general sing more softly than Freddie did, except for a few instances.
  20. Does anyone happen to know what the highest note Mika can reach is? (either recorded or live)
  21. I let my friend borrow my LICM cd, then see if he wants to go, then buy the tickets in the next few days if he does.
  22. ....wait...tickets are only $19? if so, then I'm going to drag my friend there with me...
  23. I wonder if I'll be able to get one of my friends to go if I asked...none of them like Mika, but there's one who I may be able to persuade... ...if so, then I might be able to go.
  24. I love that song. I have about three different versions of it, too. :punk:
  25. how looks now or how he used to look?...because now he reminds of some sort of reptile for some reason... :roftl:
