  5. http://twitter.com/Foodimentary This I like! September (20?) is National Rum Punch Day. #TodayNFood I’m not much of an umbrella drink kinda person, but I can never resist a glass of chilled rum punch. It tastes better the longer it gets to set, so make it in advance and allow all the flavours to intermingle until they’re ready to seduce your tastebuds. For extra umph – add a tiny touch of hot chilli powder… =) Ingredients: 1 cup fresh lime 2 cups brown sugar 3 cups spiced rum (my favourite, bnut you can use any kind of rum you like really) 4 cups water or tropical fruit juice (use less sugar if using fruit juice) Freshly grated nutmeg angostura bitter Fruit crushed ice Directions: Mix all ingredients in a bowl and chill. Serve in over crushed ice glasses and finish up each drink with a few dashes of bitters, nutmeg, (chilli), lime slice, orange or pineapple and the traditional cherry on top.
  6. Mika introduces 3am to famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin By 3am 19/09/2009 When we asked Mika to introduce us to our favourite shoe designer, Christian Louboutin, he happily obliged. He invited us to his familyand-friends dinner at Mossimans in Belgravia - probably the strangest party we've been to this year. Christian danced us around the room, bumping into Sir Ian McKellen, Kathy Burke, designer Matthew Williamson and a string of drag queens. After Mika performed I Will Survive with Rory Bremner - in the voice of Gordon Brown - Christian whispered: "I think it is time for a club. Let's go to Bungalow 8." But he and Mika were almost thrown out as soon as they walked in after they started a play fight on the couch. After he dusted himself off, Christian revealed that he will be collaborating with Prince for an upcoming tour. Christian, who has designed shoes for Michael Jackson, said: "If I am truly honest I was a bigger fan of Prince than of Michael. I'm so excited that Prince has asked me to create shoes." http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/2009/09/19/mika-introduces-3am-to-famous-shoe-designer-christian-louboutin-115875-21684848/
  7. http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/#/slideshow/article/2288715/2288716 http://www.myfashionlife.com/archives/2009/09/18/alber-elbaz-illustrates-for-mika/ Alber Elbaz illustrates for Mika Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz, has put his creative streak in full flow by illustrating a book for pop marvel Mika. The singer got Elbaz on board, as well as a number of other designers and artists, to illustrate the Mika book, which will be released alongside the his new EP Songs of Sorrow. Maybe Elbaz didn’t hear what the four-song EP is called – his cute, colourful and kitsch underwater drawing is anything but sad. According to WWD, other fashion figures who have contributed to Mika’s book include Paul Smith, Manish Arora and Walter Van Beirendonck. We really can’t help but be a little intrigued as to what they will have come up with. The Mika book will be on sale in Lanvin boutiques in London, Paris, Tokyo and Monaco. We can’t wait to have a peek.
  8. DID YOU CATCH THIS? http://blogs.fashionweekdaily.com/?p=19638 September 18, 2009 Hot Finds - Fashion Week Daily - 11:19 am Songs for Sorrow Cheer Us Up! Cheer up, Charlie! You will find your spirits lifted in no time after flipping through Mika’s new artbook, Songs for Sorrow. The 68-page feast for the eyes, features a whimsical sketch by Lanvin’s creative director, Alber Elbaz. We love the notion of bringing music to life on the page. Songs for Sorrow includes CD with four previously unreleased acoustic tracks by Mika. To get more Mika fix and info on the artbook, visit mikasounds.com. Sorrow never looked so chic! 9. http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/fashion/archive/2009/09/19/mika---the-unexpected-king-of-fashion.htm 19 September 2009 at 09:49 *Christian Louboutin* *Roland Mouret* *Matthew Williamson* Party Beat: MIKA – The unexpected king of fashion! Well, well, well who knew that Mika had such a fashionable fan-base? No less than THREE fabulous designers turned out to help the singer launch his sensational new album The Boy Who Knew Too Much in a flurry of fun at Mosimann's in Knightsbridge. Roland Mouret, Matthew Williamson and a top-hatted Christian Louboutin all paid homage to the boy of the night who was dressed splendidly in tails and pink braces. (We think Mr Louboutin might have nicked his hat.) Naturally we were there too and here's who we saw doing what... 1. New girl band Mini Viva made a bee-line for Mr Louboutin and made sure he knew just how much they loved his shoes and we do believe they even managed to slip in their shoe sizes and postal address just incase he forgot. Lets hope they get a pair! 2. Mika trying to persuade Sir Ian McKellen (yes we thought that was a bit random ,too) to sing karaoke! 3. Jodie Harsh debuting her brand new London Fashion Week beehive complete with v on-trend cobalt blue streaks. 4. Sophie Ellis Bextor looking AMAZING in be-shoulder-padded vintage sweater dress from Relik in Notting Hill. She also looked super super slender following the birth of her second child Kit in February and credited losing all the baby weight to breastfeeding and Pilates! 5. New singing sensation Erik Hassle - who recently supported Mika - sipping orange juice all night as he was feeling a bit under the weather but wanted to support Mika. Bless. 6. Natalia Vodianova towering over her husband Justin Portman in a pair of killer Louboutins. 7. And finally - in our favourite story of all week - Mika himself revealed how Christian Louboutin had recently given him the late Michael Jackson's entire collection of shoes that he had designed for the O2 gigs that never happened - including a pair special golden moonwalking ones with slippy souls. 'Maybe they might give me some magic power to help me dance,' he said. - Emily Maddick
