Hey Sivan, I thought you looked familiar; I couldn't remember who was MFC and who wasn't. It's nice that you guys were able to bump into him afterward; I wanted to wait around, but the friend I brought with me wanted to get something to eat, and MIKA seemed really really really tired. When I saw him in March, I asked him if he would play "Tah Dah" at a show sometime, and he said he would..... Before he left the studio, I mentioned it again, and he was like "yeaaaahhhhhh". It was kind of funny. He seemed like he remembered most of the other MFC'ers; I couldn't tell if he recognized me or not. Like Sivan said, before he performed he played this game of charades with Sisanie (the Radio DJ). I think it pissed him off a little bit, I'm sure they told him about it ahead of time; but boy, he didn't seem at all happy about it. It was kind of cute, haha

Hmm. This will be interesting to say the least, I don't really watch Xfactor, but no one from these shows (in the US at least) really makes it big. Does Xfactor also have a mentoring component? Hopefully this is a one season sort of thing, obviously this will hinder him from going on tour, although perhaps he will split his time between this and studio sessions or something.

I actually think it's some sort of inside joke between MIKA and Jodi Marr; in my opinion their tweets imply that the two of them are Bonnie and Clyde. I think they're just having fun. .......... Then again, it might me a song he didn't play; in LA he told me he was going to play "Tah Dah" before the tour ended but obviously he didn't. EDIT: So I went ahead and pulled up MIKA's songs on the BMI Repertoire search; no Bonnie and Clyde, BUT none of those other new songs have been registered either. (Although it does take quite awhile for something to show in the database, about 2 months if I remember correctly.)

(Off topic); but before he records HMDYLM, I want him to play "Tah Dah" and "Lover Boy" live, release another live album, and rerecord "Instant Martyr" and "Only Lonely One".

I think you hit the nail on the head Christine. Anyone remember "Holy Johnny", "How Much Do You Love Me" or any of those other songs he sang during the LICM era? The only one he kept was Rain. It'd be great if he put out some new recorded music this year (in that update video he implied he would), but I think these few new songs will just be tunes he plays for this tour, or they'll go on other projects (like with Century Man) Ma Jeunesse is an okay song. The poetry/lyrics are some of his best, but the actual music is quite plain and boring (although simplicity is MIKA's calling card). More instrumentation than just block chords on the piano would help it out.

Huh, that's interesting. I don't really care that he's gay, but I guess I could say I'm a little "disappointed", the "call me bisexual" bit leaves him a bit more open. That is to say, being exclusively gay/straight isn't as impressive as being bisexual/pansexual/etc.

It would be more than a bit difficult for MIKA to go independent, or leave his current label period; The label holds all the control. He's certainly signed for at least a 3 album deal (The average for a new artist is 5-7). And there's no telling how is deal is structured, typically, the Record label is required to release only 1 or 2 albums, after that it's all options on the Label side, meaning that he can't record for anyone else, but they don't have to release any material. And then of course, recording costs- MIKA could certainly pay them himself, but he'd have to pay for those and all the other expenses if he starts his own label to release his own material. I think you guys are making it out to be alot dimplier than it is; and there's still the fact that most people in the Music Industry don't understand the Music Industry (sounds absurd, but its true); and I doubt MIKA is an exception to the rule. The Tour cycle for TBWKTM will begin to wind down in the relatively near future, I'm sure he'll inform us of his plans once he's ready to begin work on his next project. But it's unlikely the label drops him, and it will be difficult for him to get out of his contract, especially considering his success- TBWKTM didn't do as well as LICM, but it was a moderate success. It made money; MIKA brings in money, and that's what's important to a label.

For the most part, I prefer the version of the song with the most Piano in it, wheather that be the studio, aucostic, or live version. I also think that the version your hear first is gonna generally be the one you like the most, simply because you heard it first.

Yeah,, I don't hear it either :S Your post made me rotfl! I like the first minute of BIOTG's album version alot. ALOT. But otherwise, I prefer it live It's that "stripped" version of the chords on the album version that I love, I still can't figure out what notes those are :/ I can't wait to see what he does for the video, I'm sure he'll blow it out of the water again like WAG.!
