  1. Thanks Dcdeb! Dublin!! *Insert indescribable quantities of glee here* You gonna go to both??
  2. It's a classic. Very visual but all about the psychology behind the story. It's not the sorta thing you can just jump into I have no idea if it would be your thing (obviously, I don't know you) but it is one of those 'everyone should give it a proper go at least once' kinda classics.
  3. I have indeed read the book, and while I agree the original ending is important, I still didn't like the book overall because I hated all the slang. I know the whole point was to indoctrinate the reader into speaking this psuedo-language just like the indoctrination in the story and movie, but it just annoyed me Also, I agree, I didn't know about Katy Perry's dress and thought of Victor/Victoria!
  4. Oh really? Oh the opening just hooked me, this and Pick Up Off The Floor (they have a similar subdued, melancholic sorta sound, which obviously changes in Dr. John during the chorus) and I just loved it. Admittedly, the chorus grated a bit in Dr. John the first few listens but then I loved it.
  5. Thought so. I already drew him in the customised TBWKTM suit I drew. I think what I'll do is have Mika sprawled back in the table seats with his feet up (just a silhouette) and have Dr.John, also a silhouette (but with the distinctive beard and feather shapes) sitting at the actual bar. Maybe back turned to Mika.... or off to one side... I really shouldn't be talking about this in this thread haha! I do love this song though. It was an instant favourite when I heard it.
  6. I'm definately into more arty, abstract things too generally speaking. This bar won't look realistic, it'll be more like a watercolour impressionist style mess Only realistic things I do are portraits. Dr. John is the dude on the cover of the new album isn't he? With the feathers and yellow coat?
  7. Yeah I know, I'm really not getting my hopes up. Mostly coz Dublin would OWN BELFAST. Mostly coz it's closer and thus cheaper for me
  8. Everyone keeps saying that about all my art! It'll (hopefully) all be in the yearbook, so everyone will see it This bar one is the next on my list though. I have no real reason to do it other than that the image is so ingrained in my head - which is partially why I love Mika. He inspires so much of my art. I might actually, if you don't mind, try to incorporate a sort of ghostly figure of a younger Mika with one of these 'lovers' and the parents standing near by...or maybe incorporate a ghostly figure of Dr. John.... You have any mad art skillz?? Even if you don't, I'll credit the concept partially to you as you've inspired another bit of it.
  9. I really love that idea. Would probably tweak some little bits but overall I really like it. I've actually got the bar in my head (and the feet on the table and all!) - I'm going drawing it for the yearbook. Dark shadowy bar with an almost sepia tone to it, and a Mika silhouette in the corner with feet up on the table.
  10. We can worry about costs and things anyway if it starts to look solid. We're getting over excited here, it's not for nearly 5 months! I hardly ever go to gigs. Like, one a year or so on average. So no one is going to complain if I go to see Mika early next year. I doubt I could get away with two though. Boourns.
  11. Girl 1: 'Is that a lamp? Or a person?' Girl 2: 'It's a lamp. With a person standing next to it.' Don't ask, I do not know.
  12. We sure this isn't spam? Two new users with 'xx's in their names, both 11, both looking for Mika's details....
  13. Yup, Cork to Dublin is only €19 return for a student, and €22 for an adult (moi! ) I wonder how much the train is from Dublin to Belfast? I'm sure we'll work something out. The Dublin bus trip really isn't TOO bad I found. And we can pick Debbie and people up in Dublin! I'm not sure about Belfast if we get a Dublin, just because of monies. But I'll definately think fast when it's made official and let you know.
  14. It's 7.5 hours by bus. I recently did 4.5 hours on bus to see Tim Minchin in Dublin, and that was okay. How do you travel up? If my passport is sorted by then I may just fly up. I'd go if I had company, either going up or to look forward to when I got there. But I'm still gonna pray for Dublin
  15. What's the Waterfront like? I could go to Belfast if I really had to, but for the trip/currency conversion etc involved I'd nearly rather just go to England and make a holiday of it!
  16. I just got told I exceeded my vote limit! My work here - is done!
  17. Clearly, we're not going about it the right way. We have to do something different to try and get a different outcome.
  18. That's a great movie, I must watch it. And yes, it does feel that way. Arrrggghhh.
