  1. Aaaaah he should have included this one xD Tss... I hope he'll sing it when he comes to Brussels
  2. Thank youuu ! I was sooo happy to watch it once again xD I liek this version of Celebrate far more than the other :'D Maybe because it's "only Mika" (Sorry Pharell... xD). Is this version on the CD ??? *Getting my copy next Monday morning*
  3. My mother called me right on time, I could see it right after the BBC dance thing xD I loved when he played Karen on the piano
  4. Thank you Oh, are you ill ? :'( I hope it's not too serious :'S
  5. Mika has just performed "Celebrate" on BBC 1 It was weird... I mean, it had nothign to do with the show ^^' It was pretty cool~ Made me laugh when the dancers came to him and hung onto his legs xD The lyrics were different :0 I haven't listened to the CD verion yet so maybe it is just the one from the CD but it was something like "pick up the pieces on the floor" (not sure) ? ... I was suprised but I really liked it I couldn't record it, though :'( My camera ran out of battery ><
  6. I didn't know their name either xD But this "We are Young" song is played quite often at the supermarket (student job) :> Oooh :'( I hope you can enjoy your trip to Spain, though.
  7. I think so too.. :') I just feel that he doesn't need to become that big, as long as he is free to do what he wants with his music and still enjoys it... However, I guess I can't really complain when it comes to Mika's gigs in Europe... So I guess, American & Canadian fans'd be happy to see him more there as well :'>
  8. Reading your whole interpretation, it'd make more sense Actually, there is a spelling mistake in the FR lyrics... I thought Mika had *again* invented some words xD It's "de fierté" :> Here we are, you and me on our (mountain)top These two pridemountains we have to lift Who’s to take the blame? The one (blame) we always argue about Will the first who jumps be the king or the clown/crazy ("fou" means clown /crazy) ?
  9. Don't even dare thinking of going there xD I can't even imagine how much a glass of sparkling water ~ I expected something more..."authentic", though :'>
  10. Like a sun in a bad mood. I'm like a sun in a bad mood which doesn't want to shine which doesn't get smiled at even with the moon (so...that's quite something) I'm like a sun in a bad mood which doesn't want to rise (in French "to rise" & "to get up" = se lever) which It's true, I joyfully cast a cloud over the atmosphere I'm like a sun in a bad mood which doesn't want to rise which slips away, ruining the ambiance It's true, I joyfully cast a cloud over the atmosphere I'm on my own Without your pretty face, so alone Like the sun Whatever I pay, I have lights cut (refers to bills) And like a sun in a bad mood, from which you'd rather protect yourself I can burst into tears but ???????? (uncomplete) I'm not asking for something impossible (= Je ne demande pas la lune > I'm not asking for the moon) nor for glory nor for wealth I just want sun in my life but it doesn't work as the sun is me I'm on my own Without your pretty face, so alone Like the sun Whatever I pay, I have my lights cut I'm like a sun without a hat A king without his castle Tell me why you avoid me Even when I'm at the zenith Love, it's as stupid as the moon What wouldn't we do for nothing (+ prune= plum) I can't sleep without pills I put an hour forward and then back (refers to changing time + stepping forward and then back) I'm on my own Without your pretty face, so alone Like the sun Whatever I pay, I have my lights cut Voilà... It's a bit weird to translate it into English as they play with the several meanings words have in French :'> Like "s"éclipser" (refers to an eclipse, the sun disappears...) The word for "pretty face" is common but pretty unformal... Maybe there's a far better equivelent in English :'X If you have any question, I'm sure the otehr French speakers & I'll do our best to help x)
  11. TRANSLATION : Here we are, you and me on our (mountain)top These two pridemountains we have to lift Who’s to take the blame? The one (blame) we always argue about Will the first who jumps be the king or the clown/crazy ("fou" means clown /crazy) ? Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could even forget ourselves My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather No one here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather Me, I’d rather make love despite the bad weather Here we are, waiting for the first of us to slide He/She’ll break the link, sat right by the precipice We’ll learn that only mountains do not meet each other, Far too proud to make any first step Behind us falls the pouring rain Running down to a shelter We could forget ourselves My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love despite of the bad weather My love, no one’s in sight There’s only the bitter weather left No one’s here, no more season Why should we listen in vain to the cruel weather I’d rather make love in spite of the bad weather Making love while despite the bad weather Hmmm hmmm hmmm.... Note : assassin means « murderer » temps means « time » + « weather » in French être au bord du précipice = to be on the brink of collapse. As you can see, there isn't ONE translation for each line as words have got several meanings... He's playing with sort of idioms, "poetry"... I think the lyrics are beautiful... I'll give my opinion once I have heard the song ^^
  12. I'm looking forward to listen to it... I expected worse French lyrics than these as a lot of people think this song is awful xD haha~ We'll see on Monday then
  13. I like both, actually :> I don't know Antwerp so well either, I used to go there quite often for shopping (xD) and I visited a couple of places (Cathedral, Rubenshuis,...) when a Japanese friends came to Belgium for a few days~I really like the atmosphere there~ ) And...I love the station !~ However, I don't really know what life is like there... I don't know the places where Antwerpenaren go so... I have more an "outsider's point of view" :'> In Brussels, I like small streets and little bars... it's pretty cool as well :> Especially when it comes to culture with all the gigs & cinemas...
  14. I've got a question for you ! xD In French, he talked about "Frites de Quick" ... What is it ? As Belgian, I thought of the Belgian fast food restaurant "Quick" but... Does it exist beyond Belgium ? Does anyone know about "frites de Quick" ? :DDD *haha*
  15. I don't know it at all xD I'm sure I'll need ages before I have fully discovered Brussels... xD I went to tons of places I had never been to in Brussels this summer, I had had no time to walk much around the city with university I hope I can see a bit more of Brussels this year
  16. @NickyM : No clue about it yet... :'/ What's "FUN" ? xD
  17. I'm not really fond of dogs but... how coud I resist ? ...They're sooo cute :0 The video was short but I like it sooo much :'> TRANSLATION "It's during a shooting in London, where he lives, that we met Mika. The English singer of Syrian-Lebanese origin is doing the promo of his 3rd CD of which he's pretty proud. After the worldwide success of his first 2 CDs, made of catchy, pop, and tangy melodies, Mika made a break. Mika : I hadn't written anythign for a year. I couldn't write... And then, life happened. My sister had an accident and I fell in love. And then, I began to talk about my life. Really for the 1st time. A personal diary which he celebrates which each of his songs, mostly, electro. The 29 year-old singer has grown up and doesn't hesitate anymore to give his opinion, he asked, for example, for the departure of Assad in the context of the Syrian conflict. Mika comes to terms with himself and what he say, he has just revealed his homosexuality. In short, he's fully happy and he sings it with "The Origin of Love". Mika : I wanted a love song which is full of joy. You see a film in your head when you listen to this song. A confusing movie. In his film, a girl is forced to look at the movie of her last love story with intrument that prevent her from closing her eyes, a reference to The Clockwork Orange movie. Fan may be reassured, they'll also find some joyful songs on the cd. Mika, real star in the US (huhu), will be touring in France from November and he can't wait to celebrate it ! "
  18. I'll start translating then But my translations aren't perfect either, you know TRANSLATION : Mika in Le Figaro ________________________________________ If “Elle me dit” has litterally invaded radio channels & dancefloors for more than a year now butthe Cd on which it is has just been released. It’s an opportunity to discover a more mature Mika, complexer but still perfectionist and passionate. Discovered in 2007 with Life in Cartoon Motion, a CD for which more than 19 billion copies were sold and Mika keeps going with his life of “globe-singer”. Born in Lebanon of an American father and a Lebanese-Syrian mother, the one who grew up in Paris and in England says that “he comes from nowhere.” Like his brother and his 3 sisters, he has thus found his identity thanks to Arts. So, although he lives in London, he also feels home in Paris or in the English country. He is so fond of the idea of living in a hotel that he’d find “glam” to grow old like the old witches settled at the Carlyle in NY, with their awful hair, their 60’s Chanel tailors and their mean little dog. Fancy free but endowed with a great humour. Which languages do you speak ? With my family, we speak English or French and women talks in Arabish to go on about us. If you weren’t a singer, what would you do ? I’d be illustrator, painter or chef. I’m a very bad cook but I always have tips to provide while watching Top-chef. It’s a bit the same with cars… My 3rd car has been just sent to the breaker’s yard but I can’t help criticizing other people’s driving. Whic views delight you ? The one that offers the Hotel Palácio Belmonte in Lisbonne and the one of a friend’s little house, near Alba, in the vineyards of Piémont and the snowy alpine peaks. In which music halls have you loved performing ? Le Cirque d'Hiver, because of its 360° configuration which unsettles at first but forces to expose yourself , and the le United Palace Theater à New York, because of the legends that performed there and who still do, such as Bob Dylan. Q:1st cinematic shock ? Nikita, by Luc Besson, featuring Jean Reno. Q: After Grace Kelly, to which icon woudl you like to dedicate a song? Elsa Schiaparelli. She was surrealistic, strange, creative and independent. A real fashion & design genius who is not well known enough. Q:1st gig ? Shabba Ranks, inVirginia. I was 8 and I loved reggae without suspecting that this singer was really silly and mean. But as he was a hour and a half late, I was already sleeping when he got on stage. CDs that you wouldn’t ever exchange for anything in the world? Pandemonium Shadow Show, by Harry Nilsson, my collection of Henryk Gorecki’s and the compilation of Barbara’s radio performances that a friend made for me. Something you're still collecting ? The original illustrations of the covers of Mad between 1956 and 1966. This period fascinates me! Q: If you had to keep only one instrument, what would it be ? It wouldn’t be my kazou for sure, but my piano, of course. Q:The song you wish you had written ? Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes (Paul Simon). Q: Your « bad » taste ? Quick French fries dunked in Coke. Q: Best addresses to eat ? In Paris, in the 1st « arrondissement », L'Épi d'Or ; in Italy, « le Piémont », the restaurant of “Relais San Maurizio” and in London, Yashin Sushi, in Kensington. Q: What kind of lover are you ? Complicated, volatile but not flighty (inconsistent). In short, I often disappear but I remain very faithful. Q: Favourite actors ? Fanny Ardant, Danny DeVito, Jacques Tati et Johnny Depp. Q: What are you often blamed for ? I always question everything thing and I push others to do the same. Shops where you can’t resist ? Cire Trudon, for their artisanal candles, and Deyrolle, a well know Parisian stuffer (XD). Q: Singers that influenced your life ? With Gainsbourg, disovered sex, with Barbara, I discovered sorrow, wih Fairouz ; Lenanon, with Nilsson, the 60’s, with Cohen, poetry and with France Gall…not much, actually. Q:Whic book lie on your night table? Les Extraordinaires Aventures de Kavalier & Clay, de Michael Chabon ; Orlando, de Virginia Woolf ; et Léon l'Africain, d'Amin Maalouf. Q: And what about God ? I find him far more tolerant than his religions….
  19. Q-music said that it wasn't only between 4 & 6 PM The contest runs all day from 22nd sept. to 27~29th (not sure) september~
  20. Aaah simple interview but I like it Thank you for sharing !! Have you already started to translate it ? I can do it otherwise~
  21. Well, I think I'll study listening to the radio from the 22nd September Yep, I also thought he might do it again as well It'd be REALLY great~
  22. Actually, I doubt we could find his boyfriend's identity. As said earlier, when Mika doesn't want to talk about something, he ensures to avoid mentioning anything related, or at least, he remains vague sooo I doubt we'd find his boyfriend's indentity :'> And anyway, knowing him happy is just enough for me. Trying to guess who it might be sounds pretty fun, though... (XD) ~ Gandalf could be his old friend from the "Friendship is timeless interview" ;D haha~
  23. I'll then make sure that my cellphone has got credit I've just saved Q-music station on my phone so that I can listen to it wherever I am ~ @ Droopsie : We'll probably see each other there *hopefully, with tickets * We'll see :>
