  1. Hi girls, how are you? 😘 Unfortunately I have to say I don't feel so well this month. There's actually no reason but since January I started to feel a little bit depressed, lonely and hopeless... It's sad but I don't want to speak about it with my family because they would worry too much. That's why I want to share it with you and ask you, if you ever feel the same and what do you do against it? I'd like to find some new friends or hobbies because my best friend is so busy with her job, school, hobbies, boyfriend etc. However, it's quite difficult, I don't know where to start. I'm trying to focus on studying now but it's also hard to do so. Sorry if my post doesn't make sense, I just had to share my thoughts with someone. Thank you for reading it.

Hey, Andrea! I would like to begin this message with a virtual hug. I know what you're talking about, I feel the same sometimes, mostly during winter and mostly during the exam session when there's just a lot to study and necessarily a lot of time spent at home. I usually start to feel worse after the shift to wintertime, it feels like I can't get used to it, days are too short, too dark, so I also feel less productive and motivated 'cause my days seem shorter than they should be and the sun going down too soon makes it worse, since it feels like the day is "cut" and I don't have enough time to do everything. Going out helps, even for a walk. Making plans, even if it's not an everyday activity. Generally, finding something new which can make you feel motivated, which can be starting a new tv show or listening to new music, but I feel that nothing helps like actually going out, even for a little while, interact with people, it makes loneliness a little easier to handle. Springtime also will help, you'll see

      Hi Andrea :bye:

Maybe you could go to the swimming pool, it's a good way to feel in summer even in winter.

And if you can try to spend some time outside if the weather is not too bad. Natural light and fresh air helps feeling better.

St John's Wort (which is a flower) can help you through winter as well. You can find it in pharmacies (no prescription needed, no side effects, not addictive)  In Germany it is widely used to fight against winter blues.

Anything creative will keep you busy and happier as well...cooking, baking, drawing, painting, turning on music and dance to it.

You might also try to learn a new language (memrise and duolingo are free on phone and computers )

If you miss seing people, try to join an acting group or get together with other students to study together at the library or at your place or their place. Ask students you get along with if they'd be interested.

Pets are also very cheerful and keep you busy, do you have any pets? If you don't try to adopt one  or find a cat café and go there once in a while.

And as Silver said we are all here for you :huglove: so feel free to talk with us anytime, we are a big family here :group_hug:
