  1. I'm tempted to open a separate thread for this, I'm so curious what everyone guessed
  2. We have an extra thread that you could post this in as well: I just edited out the prices as we are technically not allowed to sell tickets on here! Good luck
  3. There already is a full translation of this interview on the first page of this thread: https://www.mikafanclub.com/topic/36715-mika-as-a-guest-on-radio-scoop-france-18-january-2024/?do=findComment&comment=4292888 This is the part that I think you are referring to: Man: Yes it's true you sold Clairmont very well (laughs) He insists on it. Artists often get questions about how they feel before they release an album, but never after. What about you? Your album was out at the beginning of December, how do you feel about it now almost at the end of January just before the tour starts? Mika: What I like a lot is that each person has different favorite songs. The other thing is like as it is in French I was afraid regarding the international market and even if it was released only in a few countries. There are special editions out in other countries like for example in Japan and what's funny is that everything is written in Japanese and translated into Japanese. But there is something really great that's starting to happen: we already started being asked for synching the music for [TV] series in the US. Man: Waoh Mika: And honestly I love the idea that you can erase and break down this idea of fronteers "If you do this it will cut you from this part of...no one will be interested in England Well...it doesn't matter...now you have to express yourself in a totally different way, in a unique way, create your music following your own story and it means that it will stay true and maybe it will evolve a bit in an improbable way but it stays interesting. But like Deb said, I'm pretty sure he just means that after releasing the French album he was approached by tv people (including American ones) about the rights to the songs so they can use them in tv shows and stuff.
  4. Oui, tu as raison. Dire que tu as une billet c'est bien, c'est seulement le mot "vendre" que nous pourrait donner des difficultés
  5. Came here to say the same thing!! What other 18 year old boy would be able to perform a sensual love song by Edith Piaf about an affair with a man with such confidence and authenticity. And you can see Mika was smitten as well. Remarkable and delightful indeed!!
  6. Ahh ok that makes sense, I get it. I mean by the way he phrased it I just assumed the game involved some wild imagining where you really think about what it would be like falling in love with the other person (whether you describe it out loud or not). It's not just "hey that guy is hot". But that's an assumption from my side And even if you don't act on it it still creates a sort of tension in your mind, a "what if" scenario. To me it even makes more sense in the context of the song if the idea came from a moment of vague, one sided attraction as it feels similar to "I see you". Although it goes a step further because I see you is just "Oh I like you but I could never tell you" and 30 Secondes at least goes "I like you, what if I actually did something about it". But it still lives in that uncertain in between stage. But like I said, I definitely know what you mean! And I do think that his songs are often inspired by several things and he just picks the ones that he feels most comfortable sharing which is fair enough.
  7. I mean the question is just "You have lost your accent as opposed to Jane Birkin". And then he seems to get offended on Jane Birkin's behalf and says that what she had wasn't an accent, it was something nicer. But then like you said, he goes on a rant about how having an accent is cool anyway soo... bit contradictory
  8. Oh it's interesting that you feel this way. Why does the setting make it feel less romantic to you? To me it makes perfect sense and is exactly the scene I picture when listening to the song. It's about potential so the moment when you see someone (for example in a bar) and just get hit by a feeling and within seconds you create a whole story in your mind and a million possibilities flash before your eyes. Of course that has to do with physical attraction but it's also a feeling you get when someone smiles at you kindly or expresses a common interest or whatever. And what makes it so thrilling but also nerve-wrecking is that you don't know what's gonna happen. You have to take those 30 seconds of risk just in the faint hope that they might change your life. But you don't know if you're gonna spend the rest of your life with that person or have an awkward one night stand with them or they're just gonna laugh in your face or anything else in between. Basically you don't know if that random good-looking stranger might potentially become a special person but just the prospect of it is so wonderful that it makes taking that risk worth it. That's very romantic to me
  9. WAIT how did I not know that??! 7 whole episodes of Mika and Lang Lang?? YES PLEASE!!
  10. Hi Will and welcome to the MFC! I (re)discovered Mika through Eurovision as well and couldn't agree more. He makes me feel seen as a queer person as well and helped me discover this wonderful community of course. Have fun and don't hesitate to ask if you need help!
  11. I'm just catching up on the second episode and I gotta say I'm enjoying this a lot, the coaches are such a fun bunch!! I love the running gags of Mika's "le snake" nickname and Bigflo talking to the camera. He acts almost like a narrator for the audience and I find it highly entertaining. And so many incredible talents and unique voices of course!!
  12. Yes and to me it also ties in to the theme of love as a radical form of resistance that has always been present in his music but maybe even more so in this album ("by making love we resist"). So love not just as a gentle, subtle thing but a powerful force or weapon against hate. That feels very Mika to me Could it be Cloud? That's what it looks like to me and that's also sth that's on the album cover. Doesn't really make sense together with Apocalypse though.
  13. Well what I mean is that those are two different ways to read that sentence. 1. "Libre, je ne sais pas faire... moi" --> grammatically correct, the pause before "moi" means that it accentuates the pronoun, meaning "Me... I don't know how to be free". This version is more obvious and makes more sense (to me). 2. "Je ne sais pas faire... moi?!" --> grammatically incorrect, the pause before "moi" expresses this awkwardness and confusion, meaning "I don't know how to do... me / my life?!". I don't even think that's just Mika French, to me it sounds more like when you're talking to a friend and say things like "I'm such a mess, I don't know how to do... life" I agree that the second version seems strange and wouldn't have considered it if it wasn't for the "new" translation "I don't know how to be me". If you think that's overthinking it and this wasn't intentional and the translator simply got it wrong, I also think that's valid and... very possible!
  14. Ohhh I get the translation now!! Took me a while I also saw it as "Me, I don't know how to be free". But the other way makes sense as well. It might not be grammatically correct but I think that's the point. If you see Moi as the end of the sentence (Je ne sais pas faire moi) it literally means "I don't know how to do me" (which sounds very bad in English) but it's an awkward way of saying "I don't know how to do this project that is... me?!" which is strange in any language but you do know what he means in the context of the song. I think it's intentional that it can mean both and they just had to pick one "version" for the translation.
  15. I just gave it a go. Agreed, that was a bit too much for me as well To the question of whether he's happy with his life since 2007 he says that it's hard to quantify but he has had so many experiences (good and bad ones) so he feels privileged and lucky to have such a full life. They talk about Jane Birkin and I think he says that she didn't get to listen to it but her daughters did and sent him a nice message. The interviewer says Mika has the same elegance (which Mika takes as a big compliment) and the accent of course (which Mika doesn't like as much :D). The interviewer says that love is also a big topic on the album and Mika says yes in all its different facets (rage, joy, etc) and the interviewer brings up faithfulness which yes, Mika says is good and very important. I'm not sure if the interviewer interpreted something differently, he was probably just talking about MAEP which does talk about faithfulness to be fair. And yes they played a game where Mika had to guess the person based on their voice and yes and no questions. It turned out to be last year's winner Aurélien who said that his win was all thanks to Mika because he saved him in the Super Cross Battles (which is interesting, I didn't realize).
  16. Well ok the whole story that my brain came up with is this: The young boy wants to learn to skate but is discouraged (maybe because it's seen as a feminine sport) and gives up. But adult Mika overcomes those societal pressures and fulfills this childhood dream by learning to skate as an adult. I'm sure it's gonna be something completely different as his music videos are (almost) always confusing to me
  17. Ohh this looks amazing!! Do you think the boy is supposed to be a younger version of him?! I'm already making up my own storyline even though we're gonna find out soon enough
  18. Bougez music video!! Just him smashing it at 75 different sports!! No I think as he said he just wanted to change up his workout routine and then had the idea that he might as well film something. Maybe even just the little clips for Instagram but possibly a music video?!
  19. If you'd like to talk about it, you could always open a thread for it. (That's my subtle way of saying maybe you're getting a bit off topic ) Besides, as fun as this theory is, I think the chances of him currently training for a dancing on ice type tv show are slim to none but what do I know.
  20. Ohh I had never seen this before and have been missing out. That was mesmerizing!!
  21. I thought he was just doing something fun as a workout to get himself into shape for the tour but I like your ideas much better!!
  22. Exactly the next thing I was gonna say! Have you ever inhaled when you had a cold? Maybe even with salt water?! Congrats you will stay young forever just like Mika (who miraculously doesn't look like a completely different person after a 5 year absence from the voice)
  23. Ah yes Mika is just so irritatingly nice and boring, it's necessary to make stuff up to write an article about him. And being gay isn't controversial enough anymore either, what a shame for the press. Sorry, sometimes I just can't with these articles
  24. Was that a thing?? I was really into The Voice of Germany when it was in its second season and whenever someone didn't manage to get into the next round, the coaches would give constructive criticism. Although maybe they only do this for some candidates, I assume there are some... less good auditions that don't even make it onto tv?!
  25. Hi There's an official pre-gig party being planned in this extra thread: Head over there for more information and to let us know if you're attending!
