Wendi
My mum had to wait over four months for a biopsy of her throat - she couldn't eat properly because of coughing all the time. She could hardly speak, and yet still had to wait all that time. She eventually got it done, and thankfully there is nothing serious wrong. My dad just went private to get a cataract removed as he would have had a long wait - so much for paying NI all your working life!!
kath
Ok I am off again. Will hopefully pop back on once more just before I go...because quite clearly, like so many of us, not only am I obsessed with Mika but also MFC! See ya later
Wendi
HMMM...could do...good idea Sherlock! Detective Wendi at the ready!! Catch you later I hope Kath - but I may be out - so safe journey and hurry back - on Thursday!!
miek
I just read back a little bit andit really does infuriate me that you can't get an MRI Wendi! When I read Leona's reply and anyone else who is in another country, who expresses an opinion, they cannot believe we have SO much trouble with the NHS/PCT here (national health service/primary care trust) Hi Shari. You're right, we don't know much about the health system in Britain. But it were only words to show some support to Wendi. And the worse the situation is...the louder you'll have to be! Shari
Don't get me started, bloody pct. I had to more of less jump up and down to get on the waitng list for an MRI. It doesn't matter if you make a fool of yourself Wendi, get what you should. I have a friend who is always going to see her GP. He said to her one day "You're beginning to ware a path here aren't you Mrs???" She maybe a bit of a hypochondriac, but she has them jumping for her and from what I know, nothing really wrong! Lincoln is carp for health service.
leonita
I've often wondered about this NHS thing- after seeing the movie 'Sicko' & doing a paper on this last year, some people say it's great, others complain of lack of availability/long waits. (in Canada also) Our Health Maintenance Organizations are, I believe, evil, but they do succumb to pressure. Mind you, this means many hours on the phone, kicking butt & taking names, angry letters to the top dogs, etc, but you can make them move faster. I tend to avoid the doctors unless it is really necessary - and that seems to count against me. I got tired of going to them - and hearing the words "It's just your ME". I was even told not to go back to the surgery with this virus because I may spread it!! I was so angry - I have had it since September!!!

In a small town/village there is only one doctors practise, and so we have no alternative as we are not allowed to go to a doctors practise anywhere else!! They all back each other up as well, so it can be very hard to get anything done!!

Damn, just when this is getting interesting, I have to go to school! Ladies, you'll have to carry on with the outrage & indignation without me, I'll check back with you later! Shari
I throw my arms up in disbelief Wendi. Leona is right, you need to be more assertive. I'm a bit like you, but there is only so much pain you can put up with. GP's are not doing their job properly if they fob you off. Isn't there another doctor you can ask to see? Ladies, you'll have to carry on with the outrage & indignation without me, I'll check back with you later! Leona Its also known as CFS - chronic fatigue syndrome - have had it for 6 years now - with lots of associated things that go with it!! Catch you later - take care and good luck I throw my arms up in disbelief Wendi. Leona is right, you need to be more assertive. I'm a bit like you, but there is only so much pain you can put up with. GP's are not doing their job properly if they fob you off.Isn't there another doctor you can ask to see? Nope - there are 5 doctors in this practise - and the nearest one apart from that is 25 miles away. They will not see anyone from outside their practise unless they are on holiday, and are not resident in the surrounding area!!

Shari
Yes not too bad today thank you Miek. Apart from the usual oldlings aches and pains. Poor Wendi, it doesn't give you much hope of getting better does it if they come up with excuses to not treat your ailments!

Shari
When my friend had a hysterectomy, they left a clip inside her. She had it removed and kept it for evidence. Tried sueing the NHS and got nowhere....even with evidence! It took 8 years out of her life with the stress and for nothing. They all stick together, you're right Wendi. OK, no more nhs talk, they make your blood boil.
