I imagine this is doing the rounds, but I thought I'd share:

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1940's, 50's, 60's 70's

Riding in the back of a van - loose - was always exciting and great fun.

We drank water from the garden hose or tap and NOT from a bottle.

We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank cordial with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all!

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with your eyes shut holding a pair of scissors, doesn't it?!

PS -The BIG type is because at our age, your eyes are buggered....

Priceless, Ruth, thanks for sharing....

our "go-cart" was our old baby buggy with the big wheels and springs, sitting inside while the other kids pushed you like mad ... prob v dangerous, but a helluva lotta fun!!!

*Grabs scissors and crutches*

Hours and hours spent outdoors pottering in the swamp and woods, catching tadpoles and toads, frogs and who knows what all! Ahhh, the memories! :thumb_yello:

Good afternoon Oldlings :)

Quiet here - but no surprise really - folk have lives!!! :naughty:

Hey there, Wendy! And anyone else lurking :wink2:

I'm back from Disney World -- a bit pink, as I forgot to put sunscreen

on yesterday, and it was very sunny.

Had a great but exhausting time -- I'm a lucky girl to get to play and

work at the same time :)

Hope everyone's well here -- it'll take me a little while to catch up

both here and IRL...

Hi Deb - glad you had an great time at Disney World. Its somewhere

I have always wanted to go - but think I am maybe a bit old now - or

I can save up and take my grandchildren (plenty time to save then :naughty: )

Hope your pink glow goes without too much itching or pain. Not much

chance of that here!! More weatherbeaten than anything!! :roftl:

Nice to see you back - I missed you!! :huglove:

Hey guys, good afternoon.

Glad you are all well, and that you had a good time at Disneyworld Deb. Been a while since I was there so I guess it's changed a lot.

Wendy, will this petrol strike affect you at all? They are saying it'll take a month for supplies to get back to normal.

I'm in sunny Plymton today, near Plymouth for an urgent pick up. So urgent, it's not actually ready yet!LOL! I'm really not at all surprised. So I'm having a coffee while I wait.

Hi Rose - the petrol station 6 miles away has none just now - and is not

sure if it will get anymore - and the other one 7 miles away said they will

run short by next week - and the strike does not even start until Sunday.

They have started shutting the plant down already though - started last

Monday!! :(

Oh - have you seen Caz's latest script - you feature in it!! Its hilarious!! :roftl:
