Well Tibet posted a great video

So I tweaked the lyrics on the first page a bit.

I agree now that I also hear, She gave me her hand but I ignore her.

And I still am having trouble with the line after Daddy's face

Well finally my life is over

or I'll find my life is over

??

And I cannot make out the verse with heartbreaker, I can hear they say I'm a big heartbreaker, I try to remember

??? ________ is not yours are yours??

And at the end I now think he's saying you're not alone, you're not alone

So then, I had this realization about the whole thing. Dr John is there in the bar beside him "sees him there with him"

So his mom comes and offers her hand to get him up and he ignores her. He tells Dr John to lay his head on his shoulder.

So then he stays there in the bar and daddy comes and he stays there and asks Dr John for his shoulder this time. And if I fall asleep will it be over "will my life be over"

So you're not alone, Dr John is there with him.

When I first heard the song, I thought he was talking about putting his head on his parent's shoulders, but no it's Dr John.

I really really really love this song and I hope he talks more about writing it.

I too want to thank you guys!

I loved WAG when I first heard it then & now after seeing Doctor John on Itunes youtube vids I have fallen in love with it too.

It is fantastic to be a member here & get the lyrics so quickly!

Thank you again!:bow::bow:

What a great weekend!:woot_jump::dance_man::dance_man:

I agree with you 100%! I also think it brilliant when our MFC musicians figure out how to play the songs. I couldn't figure it out in 1,000,000 years!

This is such a great song!!!

I'll try

I look for joy in a strange place

from the back of the bar

from afar

I See the look on my momma's face

when her son's fallen over undone

She says that my life is over

But boy you don't know what you got till it's gone

Come put your head upon my shoulder

She gave me her hand but ignore her

oh Dr. John

What am I doing

When I'm wrong

Cause I Keep on trying...

Something ain't going, something ain't going on

Oh Dr John

I look for joy in a strange place

From the back of the bar

From afar

I see the look on my Daddy's face

When his son's fallen over, undone

I Found?? when my life is over

Well I didn't know what I had now it's gone

Can I lay my head upon your shoulder

If I fall asleep will it be over...

Oh Dr John

What am I doing

When I'm wrong

Cause I Keep on trying...

Something ain't going, something ain't going on

Oh Dr John

What am I doing

When I'm wrong

Cause I keep on trying

Something ain't going, something ain't going on

They say I'm a big heartbreaker

I tried to remember

Not the urge

Oh Dr John

What am I doing

When I'm wrong

Cause I keep on trying

Repeats

Oh Dr John

You're not alone

You're not alone

Oh Dr John

You're not alone

You're not alone

I hear "Well, Father..."

"Well, father my life is over" maybe?

I already love this song.:wub2:

Yeah apparentely he broke both his parents heart:naughty:

But maybe when he says "they say I'm a big heartbreaker" maybe it's not just his parents.. right?

If this song applies to him of course:aah:

I'm loving what I am hearing so far. A lot of people were comparing Dr. John with Billy Brown a while ago (I suppose it's the storytelling), but I think this is the Stuck in the middle of the bunch. Very personal and typical Mika happy tune sad lyrics.

Did I say that I love it yet?:wub2::naughty:

I think people comparing might have meant the songwriting style and not the lyrics:wink2:. If you have to compare, I'd also say it was written in the style of music from the '60s, like Billy Brown. And if anything resembles SITM on the new album it will be Good Gone Girl, I think....

You guys have done an incredible job. The only thing I would change is that he says in the back of a bar, not from. That is listening to the 30 second snippet on ITunes, not the videos of the gig.It wouldn't be the first time he changes lyrics:naughty:

Why Good gone girl?

Thematically I hear a resemblance with SITM, and he's said that Dr. John is his most intimate song in the new record.

I think it's a personal song and I think this is a little bit about his "secret" life that he spoke of in the Observer Music Monthly magazine. He was probably just trying to discover who he was and just ended up with loads of people. He was probably a little messed up during his teenage years :naughty: That's probably why they called him a "heartbreaker" because he couldn't choose. Instead he pick and mixed :roftl:

That's MY interpretation anyway! Don't shoot me :naughty:

I think you have a really good point there:wink2: I couldn't think of that at first:naughty:

I get why he did that, in a way... If he did.

Does anything I said make sense?:roftl:

:teehee: oops forgot about the sample, you're right

The song reminds me of something, Beatles or Queen, I can't put my finger on it.

That's why I said songwriting style and not the content of the lyrics...:wink2:... I could go into more details but not at this point. :wink2:.. and it's only my opinion, based on my way of interpreting songwriting techiques, anyway..
