  1. Would I travel away from home with Mika without coming home? No. I have a family...children and a husband, and I couldn't do that, even if it was tempting. It's fun to think about a little though! If he invited you, would you have dinner with Mika's family and what would you talk about?

    MIKA in DC!

I am definitely going to the DC show. And I'm watching the clock. tic tic tic... Hey...anyone who's ordering... I read online that parking is very difficult and buying the parking pass for $10 per car is a good idea. It allows you to park right behind the building. Parking in DC (for those not familiar) is always a nightmare.
  6. Shontih, thank you for this thread....so fun looking at the gorgeous pictures....yummy.... I love your avatar too!
  7. I don't get an arrogant vibe from Mika at all. In fact...where Freddie was rather arrogant and all out, Mika is has a very sweet, sexy vibe. It's not like he's unsure of himself at all, but he's softer. People don't know what they are talking about. grrr.
  8. Those who can't do, review. Frustrated artists. Sad really. Has to write for a place called "Pitchfork." Think we know who she *really* works for. uh huh.
  9. Great idea on the tartan trousers. I think he'll look great in them! My family is still in the "teasing" stage about Mika, but I think if i were making him pants, my husband would definitely move his emotion to jealousy!
  10. OK. I read through this WHOLE thread and I am DYING here. First off: Ladies, I am **impressed** great job on the necklace, and all the other gifts you made and gave to Mika...getting there, getting everything to him, and getting to meet him. Bravo!!!! You were rewarded so well! And you deserved it too....I'm so happy for and envious of you. Thank you SO much for sharing everything with us! It means so much for us to hear every detail. I loved seeing the video of him asking for Robertina!!! That was fantastic!!!! And him saying how much he loved the necklace. Awwwwwww.... And Mika himself. What a darling!!! How sweet is this man! Sigh. *now for a moment of realization/horror/fright* aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mika reads **THIS** forum?!? Oh my word!!! I mean we were talking about his....um...pecs the other day!!! And this is the place where I've made the confession that I am a 41 year old who has been feeling like a teenager over a singer born the year I graduated high school. I'm a mother of four, very sensible woman, mind you...I have a masters degree in psychology for pete's sake! And I can't stop singing Mika's songs...and thinking about his music makes me happy....I scan the 'net for any tidbit of news about him, quiz my teenage daughters to see if there's any buzz at their schools about him. It's absolutely crazy. But MIKA can't know about that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. It is a double edged sword to be compared to and to sound like someone as unique as Freddie. I know Mika enjoys the attention and patronage of people like Brian May...who wouldn't, especially this early in his career. I heard him say however that he isn't as big a Queen fan as some would like him to be (oh, that sent a little dagger in my heart... ) I think it must be very frustrating to work so hard on your own work then to have it passed off as a clone of someone else's work. Mika's music clearly is not a merely a Queen tribute or rip off. I can understand how he would want to distance himself from Freddie somewhat, and I can understand how annoying it must be to go to interview after interview and have the same thing said to you...."You sound like Freddie..." When his sound is so fresh and nothing else out there sounds like him now he gets people asking him if he's retro. And he isn't.
  12. Love is important. Loving each other is important. Getting loved back is important. That's what's important. All the rest is not important. As for me, I love Mika.
  13. I pray for him to be careful with his heart. He's a gorgeous young man, talented from his toes to the top of his head...just about ready to be megafamous. He will be able have just about anyone he fancies on a silver platter soon. I think it's difficult, not impossible, but difficult to have relationships under those circumstances (heck, under "normal" circumstances it's not easy). So I wish him peace and luck in love. xoxo
  14. this is too funny... my teen daughters would be sooooo embarassed if they knew I was involved in a conversation like this in a public place. I think I'll tell 'em tonight over dinner! hee hee!!!
  15. Hi all... I love Brian May, and one of the first things I did when I "discovered" Mika was to check Brian's website to see if he'd "discovered" him too! And of course, Brian had long before I did! I was delighted to see that they had clicked. I love Brian's website and that he talks to us so freely. We get a real sense of who he is that way. I wish Roger would have a blog like Brian. I like knowing that Brian's a geek for stereoscopic pictures and astronomy, and that he's all for saving hedgehogs. And that he abhors smoking and for heaven's sake don't try to sneak and take his picture with your cell phone in an airport...he doesn't like it! I honestly don't know what I'd say to him if I ever met him. I mean, what could I say.... "Excuse me, Mr. May... I've loved your music all my life....I loved Freddie so much, I still feel his loss..." I couldn't bear to be so trite even if it was true. Hmm....maybe this would be better: "I've introduced my kids to Queen's music and they love it too. My six year old asked me once if Roger was your dad! hee hee!" Bet he'd get a kick out of that!
  16. Fantastic work! Beautiful concept too. Looking at the world through Mika glasses....yeah...
  17. Oh man, I would have LOVED to have been to that performance!!! If anyone hears of him doing anything like that in NYC or DC please post it!!!
  18. I love this pic too....it's my favorite!!!! He's very photogenic though, and looks yummy in all his pictures. mmmmhmmmm... edited to add: this didn't turn out right...I love the picture of mika with his chin stuck out playfully....the darling.
  19. Not afraid of much... I don't want rodents in my house...not afraid of them, but of disease. Ummm....I like water, swimming is ok, but I don't want to be in a little boat on a rocky sea. Not afraid of sharks or any other creatures like that as long as they are behind a safe barrier. Not afraid of spiders or praying mantis-- I'll handle them. My husband has me dispose of all the creepy crawlies that get in the house. As long as I know it isn't poisonous or harmful I'll handle snakes or critters. I don't like to get bitten, etc. I'm a little freaked out by the prospect of bird flu becoming a pandemic though.
  20. Well, the first Queen concert I saw was in 1980, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. It was the first concert I ever saw, and I remember beforehand they were playing David Bowie music. They came on stage and there were these red, green and white lights, and Freddie was all over the place. The opening song was "Let Me Entertain You." The second concert was in 1982 , in Washington DC, USA, and I had much better seats for that one, 8th row. Freddie wore his red leather pants and blue kneepads. He had such a personal way with the audience, you really felt like he was talking just to you when he spoke and sang. When he sang "Love of My Life" he sang it WITH us, and when Brian did it recently on tour again, it tore my heart out, remembering when Freddie sang it with "me." It was truely amazing...that is why he is remembered as a great showman, not because he pranced across the stage, but because of his ability to make it all so personal, even if you were in the back row at Live Aid. I have to say, as an old (ahem) lady....Mika sort of makes me feel a little of that Freddie magic, even though I know he's special in his own right and deserves to be taken on his own merits. I know he's not trying to be Freddie reincarnated or anything like that, that would be silly and foolish (still I'd adore hearing him sing with Queen). Mika is Mika, he's different and I love him for his own dear Mika-self. But his similarities to Freddie, I must admit, make me a little misty-eyed...and make my heart glad.
