  1. Geez Louise! Someone likes their hashtags! #I #wish #people #would #stop #using #hashtags #like #this, #just #write #it #properly #will #ya! As for the pics, I must admit I'm a wee bit intrigued. Shame I don't like Ariana's verion of the song...
  2. I know, it's really sad. When I was looking at the new posts list I saw that the thread hadn't even cracked 1000 posts... Maybe we should get some of the oldlings in here, they seems to fly through the threads
  3. Woot! Yay for NA fans! Totally pleased for you guys! That is a serious schedule... reminds me of the last time he toured there properly! This is making me start to think it's an acoustic tour... I'm thinking a petition might help
  4. Sorry Deb Meh, if I could get Mika to come to the Citrus City and by my wedding singer then I'd be happy Maybe he's paid someone to start them up!
  5. Righto... Once I read it all, I wasn't that worried. Is that wrong? Well Mika, you know what they say about big feet ... Big socks!
  6. Mid life crisis then? OMG YES!!!! Meh... I should get Christine to moan for a gig in Oz, but I just can't be arsed. Maybe I should work on another stroke... he did come back here after I had the last two, maybe it'll work again No I'm not serious... strokes are a bitch to get over. Maybe not just yet... he needs to be full on missing for a little bit longer...
  7. I'm only inviting 1st cousins as well. No 2nd cousins (my cousin's kids or my parent's cousins) as there's too many of them. Same with the great aunts and uncles (though my great aunt was hinting at an invite on Friday night). I'm not inviting that many friends. There's 4 from school and 3 from uni (plus 2 friends have husbands). That's really sweet about the holding hands bit. Right... so the distance to get to the wedding is the same as from Orange to Sydney... That's a fair drive! I got the quote late last week and it ended up being $430 (about 332 euro). That was for my bouquet, one to throw, 2 of hte bridesmaids flowers, the groom's and groomsmen's buttonholes, plus buttonholes/corsages for our parents (I still need to add one more bouquet and buttonhole so that takes it up to about $525/405.43 euro). It helps that the woman that does them lives in town so I don't have to pay for freight. I want to get an estimate on real flowers and compare them to see what's cheaper. Oh, you definitely have to keep in mind that not everyone will come, but at the same time be prepared to pay for everyone. I'm almost certain that half of Derek's father's family won't be there as they live in Queensland (they won't come down here for stuff but Derek's parents will go up there for a 50th over the weekend... anyways). Ooooh, and I found out over the weekend that the lady that does cake decorating (who happens to be married to someone I work with) is now taking orders for the rest of the year! Hopefully she's not booked yet. And I really need to speak with my friend about the invites.
  8. I thought the same. It was quite refreshing to read mature comments TBH. Sounds like tall poppy syndrome to me .
  9. Ooooh cool! Where did you end up getting married? What sort of decorations did you make? I want to know all the gory details! 80 Mine's sitting around 118 at the moment. I did have 136 and that was including MFC people, but I've had to cut back. It was going to cost over $5200 for the reception! Having said that, I did work out that it would cost over $7000 for the reception at one vineyard, and $1800 just for room hire at another. I'ver never heard of a bride not having flowers. Any reason why? I would hope she does get to meet them! I've met all of my cousins' partners so that isn't an issue with me. Does your daughter have friends/family with kids? at least it's inconvenient for everyone! How far away is it?
  10. It was a very interesting article... I totally disagree with the guy and I think he misses the point and context of the song, but still... people are entitled to their opinions.
  11. I don't think it'd be that hot in the Citrus City in November for flowers to wilt... It's more likely to snow or rain The artificial flowers look pretty darn real now. The girl that does them is a friend of my cousin's and she had the artificial ones as well. They looked that real that my grandmother was watering one of the table decorations cause she though they were real! And no, no dress sorted yet. I do know what I want, I just haven't tried any on yet. I was told last year that I had to order my dress by no later than May, so I held off. I also had every intention of losing weight, but I wasn't that motivated (Mum did think I'd lost a bit of weight when I saw her last, so maybe I am motivated). If we don't have a band gig on Saturday we might be going then, it all depends on if we have the numbers to play. If not then we won't be going there but will be looking at dresses.
  12. Nice! And researching French Weddings... sounds very hard And that contraption sounds kinds sorta awesome! We might be having our photos here: Then again, we're going to have a look at the garden of a man that used to be in state parliament, so I think we'll have to decide which one we like better. That sounds pretty good actually. Lucky there's more accommodation in the small town! I you should try to encourage people to stay in the town. Maybe you can speak with the guest houses and/or hotels and see if you can get some sort of deal for a bulk booking The way I see it is, they'll last longer (though if my Grandmother waters them they might not! ) and they look pretty lifelike. That and I want to be able to keep them forever and not have to dry or press them Hibiscus flowers would be nice, but I imagine to get them shipped in to where I live would cost a bit of money... and I try to avoid frangipani flowers. Years ago I remember seeing all these girls putting frangipani stickers all over their cars and I was sick of seeing them everywhere! I'm still waiting for a quote on the flowers so if they cost a lot more than real ones than I'll just go with real ones. I'm looking at purple, pink and cream roses for my bouquet and purple and pink roses for the bridesmaids so if needs be I should be able to get real ones... Hey there! Congrats! Feel free to share ideas with us... certain people (ie, me!) are still a bit clueless about what they want
  13. Righto then. I'll just have to remember it for when we fill this thread up and have to make a new one And your'e right. There seems to be fewer people around.Mika really needs to do a proper tour rather than the festivals. And don't worry, I'm not going anywhere! Where else would I go to procrastinate at work? Speaking of weddings, we're waiting for a quote on artificial flowers and I need to contact a lady I sorta kinda know (okay, I work with her hubby) as she does cakes though I'm not sure if she's taking bookings or if she's even available. Oooooh, and we're going to start looking at dresses very soon! It was going to be this weekend but my sister and I have band things on so we can't do it.
  14. Oh geez, not again. That happened last time. Though they are recording the album already so that is a little weird.
  15. Awesome! And it doesn't surprise me that Ben's only worried about going somewhere with a pool. And gee he's looking good he's rocking the silver fox look almost as good as Adam Clayton (but not quite)...
  16. That place sounds lovely! I don't know if this would be possible, but my cousin got married about an hour away from where we live and she ended up hiring a couple of buses for people to go in so they could have a few drinks and not worry about their cars. Maybe you could see who would be interested in getting a bus and maybe get a quote from a local bus company We're definitely doing music but we're a bit undecided at the moment as to whether we go with an iPod/DJ or a band. I think Derek wants a band. Then again, I'm not 100% sure there's going to be room for a band as well as a dance floor. We'll be able to see how much room there is this week, as we're going to a Scottish function there on Friday (we've both been in the room before, but I can't remember how big it is! ). In Oz, the bride and groom get up and dance for one song, then the rest of the bridal party and the parents get up, then the rest of the guests join in. Some people do dance lessons for the bridal waltz, but some don't. It's all a matter of preference. Of course, the more the merrier! Has your daughter made any decisions for the wedding yet? At the moment I'm trying to get flowers organised. I'm going with a local girl that does artificial flowers and I'm just waiting for a quote from her. I've also decided on wedding favours, the cake (though the woman that I want to do the cake isn't taking orders until April ), I've made a deposit for the honeymoon and we're going to properly look at dresses in the next week or two! For the honeymoon, we're going to a place called Bargara, which is near a city called Bundaberg. Bundaberg has a rum factory there and Derek wants to go there, so we're having our honeymoon there. We managed to rent a house there for $700 a week, which is pretty good considering some of the houses we looked at were over $1000. It's near the beachso we'll probably be spending a fair bit of time there. I've also been looking into some stuff we can do together and I'm thinking snorkelling, as Bargara is near the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef. There's a company that does day trips from a town called 1770 (yes, that's actually it's name) to a nearby island and you can get a glass bottom boat to the island and wander around or you can go snorkelling or scuba diving. Just need to convince the boy that it's a good idea!
  17. Hey silver, have you noticed how it's pretty much just us talking in here? Maybe the next thread should be: The Australian Thread: Party 24 (AKA nico_collard & silver's meeting place)
  18. AWWWWW! I wanna go there! It looks so pretty!
  19. That's a bit of an insult to Alizée to be compared to KStew...
