  1. Of course I'll wait with you! Wouldn't miss a chance to actually say hi to him. Do people usually take water to gigs? Gotta keep the cords lubed so the voice doesn't go out
  2. If there was a Salt Lake City gig, I'd be rescheduling my trip to visit my friend I noticed that and was a little bummed. Still, maybe more shows will get added and he'll do SLC for my birthday (because that's when I'll be there).
  3. If I wasn't going to Salt Lake City for my birthday in November, I'd be able to afford to go to the Vancouver show too. Much as I ache to see Vancouver again and Mika a second time, the friend I haven't seen for 10 years wins because I've been promising to visit her for over a year and have had to keep postponing. It breaks my heart, but at least I'll get to see him in Seattle
  4. YES!!!! This was my hope because I'm too old to queue all day and too claustrophobic because crushed in a crowd of people wanting to be at the front and adore Mika to be stuck in the back just because I'm claustrophobic. I am giddy!
  5. Not only will this be my first time seeing Mika, this will be my first time at a concert. Advice for concert newbies is deeply appreciated
  6. EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! No power on this earth can stop me from being in Seattle on the 26th of October. I'm going to have to some begging and borrowing to get there, but I will find a way. There aren't enough public transit connections to Seattle on Saturday, so I'm going to have to bus over on Friday, spend a night in a hotel...or at my friend's house...and do SOMETHING on Saturday until the show and hope to all that is good and pure in the universe that my mom can pick me up at the ferry dock on the peninsula on Sunday because there's no public transit on Sunday. Then, there's the issue of the backpack I'm going to have to haul food and change of clothes in. EEEEEEEE!!!! I can't wait! Still soooo glad it isn't until October because this is going to take some good planning. Did I mention EEEEEEEEEE!!!
  7. Wait. What? I in no way implied that there was anything wrong with being a fan. I simply said that there is differnce between being a fan and actually having a relationship with someone. There's nothing wrong with caring about someone you don't actually know. That's called compassion. It's a beautiful human trait. It's just important to not take it so far that you mistake it for a relationship. That leads to scary stalker behavior. You just said that to a poet. Being a poet and being driven by my passions does not give me license to abandon reason in favor of the fantasy that I have a meaningful relationship with someone, who I have never met, just because his voice makes me all tingly. Being a fan is a wonderful thing. Those loving feelings and that sense of attraction is very real. It's good to feel those things. This fan club is a place where we share that and celebrate it together. It only becomes a bad thing when people start to think that loving someone and feeling attracted to someone is the same thing as having a relationship with that person. It isn't the same thing at all. That was ALL I was saying.
  8. It's worrisome when people do not understand the difference between feelings they have for someone they've never met and feelings that people have for people they have actual relationships with. The difference between loving Mika and loving a lover is that you don't actually have a relationship with Mika. It's possible to feel many powerful things for a person you've never met because that person could look beautiful and say intelligent and funny things and be talented. You can care about that person's feelings and think you want to be with person. All of those feelings are lovely and valid and nobody should say otherwise. But don't mistake those feelings for being the same as the feelings that develop from actually having a relationship with someone. They feel similar, but are not the same at all. It's completely different when the other person loves you back. Mika genuinely cares about his fans in the way that compassionate people care about others, but he doesn't know any of us well enough to love us back. It's normal to feel pain when your crushes start dating other people because it shatters the dream world you built up around the person. It's healthy to be able to cope with life without those dreams and to be happy for the person you care about. If you can't be happy for the person when he falls in love, it's possible you never cared about his feelings and only ever cared about the way he made you feel. That isn't love. That's fandom.
  9. I was going to ask how you found my blog. Then, I remembered that it's in my contact info! Glad to know people actually read it. Hope you enjoy it :)

  10. He is so entirely one of my people! "Thank F" is something my friends and I have been saying since....well, probably before Mika was old enough to get away with swearing. Also, I'm the daughter of a sailor. Swearing doesn't bother me. In fact, I probably do it more than he does since I did, in fact, learn to swear like a sailor.
  11. Mika will always be Mika. He has acoustic versions of his songs, dance remixes, studio versions, etc. It's a smart move as an artist because he can get his music played in a variety of places and build name recognition so that people will go to see his shows. I like all of the versions of his songs because I like ALL kinds of music. I love that he's versatile and seems to enjoy all of the versions of his songs. It means he isn't locked into being just one thing all of his life. He'll always have the freedom to experiment because he's always experimenting. Most people are going to love some of his stuff and hate other stuff he does. That's fine because they'll stick around for what they love. The more people who stick around, the longer we get to see him in the spotlight. Don't worry much about the bits you don't like. He'll still keep creating stuff you do like. He's versatile that way.
  12. Also, I am a huge spaz! HI! Welcome to the MFC! It's the best kind of madhouse in here. Make yourself comfy and have fun!
  13. I left 12 years ago and I'm STILL homesick for Missoula. Dude! When did Missoula get clubs?! Ride the carousel once for me!
  14. It's about time! I had just checked iTunes earlier today and it wasn't up yet, so it must have gone live after I downloaded the video YAAAAY!!!!
  15. Coraline is worth reading! I wept when The Graveyard Book ended because I missed the characters as painfully as I miss all of my friends who are a million miles away.
  16. HUGE fan. His adult works are even better, if a bit more gorey towards the end. Neverwhere Stardust Smoke and Mirrors Fragile Things Anansi Boys American Gods He did Good Omens with Terry Pratchett, which my first introduction to their work. He did a graphic novel entitled Sandman that was amazing, though certainly NOT for a younger crowd. It's getting to be able to time to re-read all of them because my memory is getting hazy, but reading them again is going to be a pleasure. The movie projects he's been involved with are equally amazing MirrorMask is incredible. Stardust was much better than I'd anticipated. I love Neil Gaiman so hard
  17. I wrote: Things Mika was thinking: D) When I get home, I'm buying myself a PONY! The question is, why WOULDN'T he think that?! C'mon, who doesn't want a pony?
  18. Did you buy the album from iTunes or import it to iTunes from the CD? This confused me for a good long while until I realized that buying a digital copy of the album was counted differently than buying a CD and importing it into iTunes. If you imported it from a CD, you need to put the CD into your computer and validate the CD version. If you bought it from iTunes and it won't validate, you should get in touch with somebody who might be able to fix it or who would at least be able to pass the message on to someone who could fix it.
  19. Things Mika was thinking: A) I shouldn't have had that for breakfast. I hope nobody notices. B) This would be so much more entertaining if I had a drink. C) I'm going to look like such a tit if I forget someone's name. D) When I get home, I'm buying myself a PONY! E) garlic, hummus, lentils, spinach...what am I forgetting?! F) aw crap! Another picture of me staring off into space. Now those girls on the MFC are never going to stop wondering what I'm thinking!
  20. ORLY?! AWESOME! I'll do that when I get back. I really DO have to go catch my bus now! See y'all in a week!
  21. I want my letter R!!! (Reference to a post in which I said I had enough points for him to think of me the next time he types a letter R in a tweet ) I get excited about this, but I know how life goes, so I don't get so invested that I'm disappointed when plans change or things go wrong. Even with the best organization in the world, things don't work out smoothly, ever. If all I ever get is another album, I'm happy about it. All the better if it's autographed, but I've signed my name hundreds of times in a row and that is not a job I envy (even if I do want to be a famous writer and sign countless copies of my books for fans ) I'm just happy Mika knows we're here and acknowledges us in ways that are very specifically for us.
  22. Thank you, FD! I hope that being gone for a week means that Team Mika will have an answer for us when I get back Ok, I'm off on my vacation and I'll see y'all when I get back!
