  1. I'm listening to this song for the first time- it's great and I can't help but think that it would have been a great album-promoting summer single! I've pre-ordered the album now anyway along with a half-price MIKA t-shirt! :) Exciting times!
  2. WOOOOOH! He will tour the UK, and dates will be released really soon! YAAAAAY!
  3. Apparently he hasn't arrived yet- by accident or design I don't know at the moment! :/
  4. Really nice to see that everyone had a great time! Love the 'vibe' of Good Wife , but see what everyone means about that suit . I really want him to tour the UK now!
  5. Haha! I agree, although I like it, as it probably reinforces the song's message and emotions more than something more complicated visually would. It certainly beats the TOOL 'short (porn-ish) films'!
  6. A revelation indeed! He's backtracked on the earlier 'I don't model myself on Freddie and barely listened to Queen anyway'. Maybe he's more comfortable in himself now to acknowledge the influence, or possibly just the awesomeness of Freddie Mercury!
  7. Just heard the song (probably illegally, cos I want to wait to order the hard copy of the album), and although it's so sad, it made me so happy- especially with the 'happy ending'-style ending! Finally another MIKA song that I actually like! Yes, the song sounds like it could be about Freddie when he discovered the gay scene with unfortunate mistiming given the HIV/AIDS epidemic. But then again, MIKA has said in the past that he's actually not a particular fan of Mercury or Queen (unlike me!) . :wub2: Looking forward to some of the other songs now!
  8. I'm actually cautiously excited about this album. :mikalove:More than can be said about the last one!
  9. 'Talk about you' is cheap and cheerful. It is quite 'Mika' in part, but lacks the originality of his previous work. As for crediting the Italian song, the main similarity is the cheesy and very well-used chord progression. It's difficult to understand the motive behind releasing a song clearly written to be catchy and sellable, yet doing virtually nothing to promote the single. I have no problem with him being less popular (in England at least), and it should be giving him more artistic freedom, without the pressure to produce something manufactured and simplistic. I don't hear this at all, and in part think this is because Mika is trying to become more mainstream again; but why release a song that will not appeal to fans that nobody else will actually hear? Oh Mika!
  10. Just listening to it now. So different from his old style, but great nonetheless. Really fresh and summery.
  11. If Mika predicted it'd be released in November 2014, we should be delighted if it really will be released early 2015. As for the single, it's not actually as awful as I thought it would be, even if the lyrics are about as tasteful as the wrecking ball video! Oh well, it's a catchy and almost reasonable tune.
  12. I've got to admit there's something very mika about the melody in the 1.30 snippet, but that's about the only good thing about it.
  13. It's sad really, people still remember Mika in the UK for LICM (everybody found his style so fun and refreshing) , but have no clue that he even released anything after that. I appreciate this isn't entirely Mika's fault, but releasing a French single 5 years after any major hit isn't exactly going to be the best way for him to come back to the British charts . Not that I care about popularity at all, but I think his recent music has been more commercial as a way of appealing to more people, and selling more records. His music no longer seems true to his unique style . The whole X-factor/The Voice saga also back this idea up. He once spoke about his dislike of the talent-show culture, but it seems he wants money and fame more than to be a unique songwriter nowadays. Becoming an 'overnight success' can't have been easy, and he suffered with 'writing block' after TBWKTM failed to impact on the charts, but surely he didn't think that being a singer was going to be easy or that judging talent shows was the way to solve the problem? Being famous probably changed his initial views on the music industry, and he appears to be slowly becoming like other 'celebrities', but hopefully (optimistically) he'll change his ways before it becomes too late. It would be amazing to see Mika in concert in the UK again, to hear his songs being played on the radio again, for him to be well-known enough to be in the charts again. But what would be better than anything would be to have some decent new songs released regularly and more frequently (this might help him to become better-known again too), which I'm sure would everybody on here happy Not that I actually believe any of this will happen, but it'd be nice!
  14. I don't think singles tend to be about intelligent text anyway. Then again, I didn't think they were about nude cartoons of the singer either. Lol! You never know with Mika.
  15. But maybe for us English people, it's a little surprising to see a naked cartoon man revealing all on the cover for a single. They could have just had him turning away slightly more to avoid the awkward penis (for lack of a better way to phrase it!). Unless that's what you French people like to see...
  16. It's awful! I don't mind French songs, but this is mainstream rubbish, not the Mika we knew. The single looks and maybe sounds a little on the obscene side too...
  17. Elle Me Dit VS Emily Popular Song (ft. Ariana Grande) VS Popular Song (ft. Priscilla Renea) Origin Of Love VS Origin Of Love (New Version): only just heard the new version now, hard to decide- I love them both! Stardust VS Stardust (ft. Chiara) Make You Happy (LA edit) VS Make You Happy (Miami edit) L'Amour Dans Le Mauvais Temps VS Blame It On The Weather In general: CD-vesion VS Acoustic/Live Normally, this is a hard choice as I like layers as well as simple arrangements. But for TOOL, the normal versions are too electronic and not layered enough to make me prefer the CD versions. Interesting thread but why are there so many different versions of the TOOL songs? I would prefer him to write new ones than rearrange old ones!
  18. I think the first two albums were much more original and provoked stronger love/hate response in people. TOOL was a bit wishy-washy in comparison, maybe more in the arrangements than the songs themselves. In that respect at least, I think quite a few of us want the 4th album to be more like the first two.
  19. Haha! I took exactly the same picture when I saw these in the supermarket!
  20. My thoughts at the moment, in no particular order: 1. Rain 2. Love Today 3. Overrated (demo) 4. Karen 5....need something from the English TOOL... let's go for Stardust 6. We are Golden 7.Stuck in the Middle 8. Happy Ending 9. Blue Eyes 10. Any Other World Thought this would be easier than the 'favourite song' but it's really not!
  21. Bonjour Philippe! Welcome to the MFC!
  22. What are they all wearing?! His house is really awesome though (aside from the creepy cat and stuffed owl)-it makes me excited about getting my own place (but that could never be in London!).
