    In Episode 1 of The Piano, when Harry started playing, Mika made a comment along the lines of "There should be balloons attached to the piano and he can float in the air like in Up." This implies that Mika has seen the Disney movie Up. But maybe he wasn't watching properly because it's a house with balloons attached not a piano! I wouldn't be surprised if Mika has seen the movie though, it's such an uplifting (excuse the pun!) and heartwarming story and one of my favourites by Disney.

    Impressed you know that but not the names! Bad Man is just that, he's bad with a bad attitude too. Good thing is I haven't seen him in a long time and I actually think he might have abandoned his house... Raided house lady is a sweet old lady who moved into the very top house on the street a couple of weeks after a police raid. I just happened to be walking my dog when it happened too! She's probably got nothing to do with what happened but I can't help let my imagination wander and then wonder if she's a secret gangster granny! He has one? Or he looks like one? Alpaca Man may well have moved, I haven't seen him for a while either. He was always cheery and would say hello, his house will be forever be known as the Alpaca House! As for where the name came from it was a Freudian slip by my Mum! I remember she said something like "I saw that nice man with the alpaca again today." And the name has stuck ever since! (he had a tall skinny jack russel terrier! )

    Anyone else not know their neighbours by name but you do know the animals/pets names instead? Just me? This has lead to me giving people in my neighbourhood rather unusual nicknames (which of course they are unaware of ), simply because I don't know their real names 😅 The nicknames are: - Lady at 17 - Man in the White House - The Sisters - Bad Man - Baseball Cap Man - Chihuahua Man - Beagle Lady - Alpaca Man - That Guy with The Westie - Raided house lady - Liverpool Household Realising now they sound like really lazy villain names from a low budget comic book 😅

    I feel like this needs it's own definition! Snarflabble /snɑːf 'labble/ verb INFORMAL. MADE-UP To consume something very quickly or greedily which then leads to a sudden state of overwhelming excitement and giddiness. e.g "They snarflabbled up Mika's new music and become so overjoyed with excitement that nothing could distract them from it." Maybe one day we should write a whole new dictionary of made up words! 😁

    That's a good point. We could end up with too many threads that are all rather similar to one another 😅 I think this thread was originally meant for general random chat anyway, not just random words... I'm looking at you @Hero!

    Go for it! I'm all for anything that makes my day more positive (that's actually part of my New Year's resolution for this year!). I have a general day to day diary but I also keep a Happiness Journal which is just for all the things that make me happy. And it literally can be anything from seeing a dog wagging its tail to hearing a favourite song on the radio. I should really update my journal though because the main thing in it at the moment is my report of seeing Mika in London last year! So maybe a thread here would help remind me to write more often!

    This has just reminded me of something else that could be a little naughty! In the first episode Claudia describes Mika and Lang Lang as "secret squirrels", Lang Lang then replied by saying "yes, give us some nuts!" Oh Lang Lang, you had to say that in front of Mika?!

    Emphasis on the "should" (it might take a while) and even if I get the episodes would I be allowed to post them directly here or would it be easier with a shared file or youtube? or @dcdeb do you plan on recording them all, are you ok to continue doing that?

    I get why it's blocked due to copyright from Channel 4 but you'd think this would also affect other countries, anyway I'm glad people outside the UK have been able to watch it. (I can only see this video if I use a VPN 🙃) Once the entire series has aired I should be able to get all episodes in good quality, no ads and clean opening/ending. I'll have a go at making a google drive for them! Earlier when I said Fiona was my favourite, her original piece was definitely my favourite from that episode, but of course Harry stole my heart! So sad to see that his wife died, I've had a family member with dementia and Harry's story really touched me. It was moving and heartwarming.

    What a beautiful first episode! My personal favourite was Fiona, but all of the contestants were amazing! There wasn't one that I didn't like. Loving it and can't wait for next week now!

    This is a great interview, thanks for finding it and sharing! They say he did the interview through a video call, they could have taken some screenshots! I'd love to have seen him with his unstyled messy curly hair! Also I never knew this: "In 2015, he voiced French-language animation film The Prophet" How did I miss that?! I won't go off topic here about it, I'll ask more in the Looking for Something thread 🙂

    I was annoyed at that too. You could clearly see the change in his body language when they brought that up. Even though he said that he had one teacher that pulled him through the bad times, I have a feeling he said that only to end the conversation quickly. I've never read anywhere that Mika liked any of his school teachers. The excitement about dog food though, his little face lighting up was everything! 🥺

    Mika might not necessarily be live in the studio, I think the last time he was on the show (talking about Eurovison) it was through a video live chat. Still nice to see him promoting The Piano though! 😊

    I've been wondering for ages if Caro Emerald would release new music, her social media has been quiet for such a long time that for a while I was googling "Caro Emerald news" at least once a week, only to find nothing under that name... Turns out that quite a few months ago Caro reinvented herself as The Jordan and she released a new album under that name only 4 days ago! I've given it a listen and it's very different from what she used to do. No more upbeat jazz songs. Her new album Nowhere Near the Sky is more moody and the lyrics are very honest and open about what she's been through in the last few years. In interviews she's been asked a lot why the sudden change, all she says is "listen to the album", apparently Caro has been working on moving away from who she was for the last 6 years and she's now with new management too. I get the impression that she felt trapped previously, always made to sound and look a certain way, now she's finally able to be her true self. I'm actually not that keen on her new music, I think because it's so different from what I'm used to it's hard now listening to it and thinking "oh wait, this is Caro Emerald now, but also not?!" From her new album there are only 2 songs that I do like: Best Damn Day I'm Not Sorry You can listen to the whole album here: I still live Caro's back catalogue of music but it might take me a while for her new music to grow on me.

    So I was right all along that Nomfundo is singing in Zulu! It's a lovely language and I'm glad she was allowed to use it for this song and that the production company didn't think it needed to be all in English to appeal to western media. It's certainly more authentic this way and gives it a true African feeling.
