Lol! Yeah b***** (:bleh:) is a pretty common word here, and not considered a swear word, I don't think ... we had an advert a while back ... can't remmeber what happened in it, but at the end the dogs looks up and goes "bugger!". :roftl:

:lmao: :lmao: The dog is hilarious :lmao: :lmao:

I don't think this advert would be allowed on British TV :mf_rosetinted:

Really? Well, the.. "Where the hell are ya?" add also got banned.

Bugger gets used a lot in Aus

(we Aussies must like making adds that other countries don't approve of :mf_rosetinted:)

Look, so now you had me looking up the meaning, and I found it quite surprising (and this explanation is funny):

Originally, it was derived from the French word "Bougge*rie" ("of Bulgaria"), meaning the medieval Bulgarian clerical sect of the Bogomils, which was branded by the established church as particularly devoted to the practice of sodomy.[1]

Today, the term is a general-purpose expletive, used to imply dissatisfaction (bugger, I've missed the bus), or used to describe someone whose behaviour is in some way displeasing (the bugger's given me the wrong change).

The word is also used amongst friends in an affectionate way (you old bugger) and is used as a noun to imply that one is very fond of something (I'm a bugger for Welsh cakes). It can also imply a negative tendency (He's a silly bugger for losing his keys).

A colloquial phrase to denote or faint surprise at an unexpected (or possibly unwanted) occurrence is "Bugger me, here's my bus". In colloquial use it can indicate the state of being tired, such as "I'm buggered."

Such a wide range of uses for a word with such a pleasant underlying meaning. :naughty:

Don't you mean "Where the bloody hell are ya?" :bleh:

Really, it wouldn't? Weird. We must care less about our children's impressionable minds.
