Texts from Mikasounds

Shari posted this in another thread:

Has anyone received a text message saying it's from "The Brits"? I just got one saying vote for Mika on the brits and it appears to have cost me about £3.00 when I didn't even subscribe to the service!!!

I was on a htread recently asking if whwen you vote for Mika on the brits website, it asked me to register each time. I didn't think that was right and I only did it twice.

I know I haven't sent more than about 8 texts since I got my £10.00 credit last week and now it's about £7.00 something!

So just beware if this is a scam! The text said, TEXT to STOP MIKA to 82665 if you no longer wish to receive texts!

Anybody elase shed any light????

Just curious anyone else has received texts from Mikasounds, and if so, did it

cost you to receive the text?

If so, it's something to consider I suppose when you say that you

want them to text you with such announcements...

They give you the option when you sign up.

I got a similar thing from the Kaiser Chiefs and The Guillimots.

In fact, The Kaiser Chiefs sent me a happy birthday text on my birthday last year, completely unexpected and very sweet.

Take note Mikasounds!

Hi, Thanks for moving this querey Deb, Sorry if I posted it in the wrong place.

So are you saying the text came from Mikasounds and not the Brits? (There was a mention of Mikasounds in there somewhere)

Have I don't a stupid thing in cancelling it? Rose, when you said you can opt for texts when you sign up... I don't recall doing so. When I got the cancellation text thru, it cost me the standard 12p to receive too.

I'm confoooosed and I worry too much :(

It's not that it was in the wrong place, exactly -- I just wanted folks to see

it, since it was buried where it was. I don't think it ought to have cost

you anything, or at least not as much as it did. Figured maybe one of

your fellow UK'ers might have a better explanation for it. :)

no, i didn't get texted, BUT for the 1st time EVER since I subscribed to mikasound and chose to receive updates via email, they actually emailed me to let me know about this.

I got kinda startled as the email sender was MIKA
