The Australian Thread: Part Fifteen

Oh yes, we are very educational here

Yes, you better!

Okay, so I got impatient and tried to take it out of the tin. Too soon.

But it fits together like a jigsaw and you can't tell the difference!

P1050721.jpg

Except for like .. when you cut into it

P1050722.jpg

The colour is really something quite spectacular, and the camera flash is kind of washing it out. I'll take some pictures of it in the daylight tomorrow

And it tastes good!

I bet you are :naugty:

It didn't work  I'm wondering why :naughty:

I love the little story behind the pics :naughty:

Now it makes me think of those photos you see in your science book with different layers corresponding to a rock :naughty:

Hmm, we should all make rainbow cakes "in honour of Mika's birthday"* on the 18th :naughty:

:lol3: He has a strong immune system from eating random crap his whole life :mf_rosetinted:

:naughty: Lol! Well I can't say I was going for the "deadly disease" look, but I seem to have done quite well!

Yeah!

I used this recipe for the actual cake: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-White-Cake/Detail.aspx

(But you can use any recipe I guess, and this one worked out quite badly actually)

And this technique:

Divide mixture evenly between three bowls.

Tint mixture pink in one bowl and mix well.

Stir sifted cocoa and extra milk into another bowl and mix well.

Drop spoonfuls of each mixture into prepared pan and run a knife through cake mixture for a marbled effect.

I wanted it to look like this:

But I didn't have the right food dye

Looks like it's all there ever is

Isn't that a good thing?

Basically, all the food dye I could find :lol3: And we only had three colours, so cocoa for the brown/chocolate bit :bleh:

haha ok... thx for the recipe :wink2: I might try it in a while :roftl:

just wanted to tell you it's not deadly cake you've bake... it has nerves hahah ch3_nerveend.jpg

A scanning electron microscope picture of a nerve ending. It has been broken open to reveal vesicles (orange and blue) containing chemicals used to pass messages in the nervous system.

looks just the same.... :naughty:

Hahahaha! Oh thank goodness. *takes cake back from dog*

Mmmmmm, colourful nerve endings :naughty:

I learnt the other day that those electron microscope thingies work by spitting tiny particles of gold onto the thing and then taking a picture of that. :naughty: Learnt it on a kids show :naughty:

The Bishop is coming to my school tomorrow to bless the new locker bays, classrooms and toilets!

 And what happens if they're not blessed? Does it turn into "The School From Hell" Do demonic hands reach out from the sinks and toilets? Do exercise books disappear into the lockers never to be seen again? Do the teachers turn into zombies?

Oh no - that's normal school:naughty:

Lucky me, I grew up with all the principles a hooker should have.

That's none then :roftl:

181049920_8de74dea08.jpg?v=0

I love tree frogs

181048634_cbb3a7c0e9.jpg?v=0

What the heck is that!

Looks like a peccary to me, but definitely a member of the pig family

Its a maderia cake... they add food dye and flavouring, and swirl it all around so that is marbled... I love it.

I love Madeira cake, but especially marbled with chocolate (cocoa powder)

Well my cake is in the cooky-thing now. We didn't have any red so I did green, blue, yellow and chocolate. No major mishaps except for tipping over a scale full of sugar and accidentally using self raising flour and baking soda instead of plain flour and baking soda. :naughty: Wish me luck!

Self raising flour and baking soda - lucky it didn't rise too high to come out of the oven

It's incredible how many animals I learned about in the Australian thread

After the mallee fowl...the coati!

Its full name is a coatimundi

it might be the fractal cake as well

I bet you could do a fractal pattern with icing. That could be quite interesting.

OKD - words fail me. I have never seen a cake like this before. There are not many cakes where you have to put on sunglasses before you cut it. God knows what it really looks like if this is washed out.

It's certainly ...er ... colourful.

I think you're only supposed to add a few drops of colouring, not the whole bottle.:naughty:

But 10/10 for effort.:thumb_yello:

Geez, you're such a good uni student! :naughty:

I remember sitting and watching Oprah and Dr Phil on my days off from uni... and when I lieved with my ex I used to watch Maury...

I don't do that anymore of course...

I watch Ellen.

Hahaha. I just put it on one channel and watch that one all night while posting on MFC. Last night was the AMC channel. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, BLues Brothers 2000 and a 1968 movie, Coogan's Bluff. Mmmm....young Clint Eastwood.:naughty:

 It's amazing.

And woolworths sound more stupid... who cares if the what the wool is worth :hmph:

Safeway has the word safe in it...

:roftl:

Because Google wouldn't answer me on this one!

*waits to hear explosion from a different continent*

I noticed something...no icing or frosting on any of those cakes. Is that an aussie thing or were they just too lazy to put any on?

Does he bite himself?

And I assume by medication she means ADHD drugs...

No he scratches himself but only bites me and his siblings.

They mentioned Respiridol, I have no idea, I have never considered it before, and will do loads of research and try some other ideas first, but we definitely need to do something to improve this.
