Popeyes asks customers to show some video love By JOE GUY COLLIER The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 04/01/08 Â Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits wants customers to tell it why they love the chain's Louisiana-style fried chicken. Popeyes, owned by Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises, launched this week an on-line video contest with free chicken for a year at stake. Â Contestants are asked to visit the Web site, http://www.bonafidechicken.com, and upload 30-second videos of themselves beginning with the phrase: "Hey, Popeyes! I'm a bonafide..." Â The "Are you bonafide?" contest, which ends May 23, refers to Popeyes' traditional "bone-in" chicken. The contestant receiving the most on-line votes will win a grand prize of free Popeyes food for a year, a three-day trip for two to New York, Miami, New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas or Vail, Colo., and Popeyes merchandise. Â It's the latest example of companies using customer-supplied video to create so-called "viral" advertisements via the internet.
