i learnt it in french when i was in kindergarten :boxed:then in english, then in italian...it was something like fra martino campanaro dormi tu...bla bla bla then i heard it in german and i stumbled upon the romanian version some time ago... it took me a while to figure out what song it was:roftl: i know for sure the name hadn't anything to do with John/jacques/ and not even martin :boxed:

i'll post it if i'll find it.

p.s.: i remembered another song i learnt in kindergarten... my bonnie lies over the ocean my bonnie lies over the sea... i hated that song it was so sad :(

and there was another sad song Oh my darling clementine... and for this reason i couldn't stand english when i was little... that teacher only taught us sad songs

„Schneeflöckchen Weißröckchen

wann kommst du geschneit?

Du wohnst in den Wolken,

dein Weg ist so weit.

Komm setz dich ans Fenster,

du lieblicher Stern,

malst Blumen und Blätter,

wir haben dich gern.:cool::roftl:

OH DEAR WHAT CAN THE MATTER BE?

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Johnnie's so long at the fair.

He promised to buy me a bunch of blue ribbons,

He promised to buy me a bunch of blue ribbons,

He promised to buy me a bunch of blue ribbons

To tie up my bonnie brown hair.

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Oh dear what can the matter be?

Johnnie's so long at the fair.

He promised to bring me a basket of posies,

A garland of lilies, a garland of roses,

A little straw hat to set off the blue ribbons

That tie up my bonnie brown hair.

I'm A Little Teapot

I'm a little teapot

Short and stout

Here is my handle

Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up

Hear me shout:

Tip me over

and pour me out!

I've got 3 kids, all at the English School here, so i was "forced" to learn all these lol

ALICE BLUE GOWN

-McCarthy and Tierney -

In my sweet little Alice blue gown,

When I first wandered down into town,

I was both proud and shy,

As I felt every eye,

But in every shop window I'd primp, passing by.

Then in a manner of fashion I'd frown,

And the world seemed to smile all around.

Till it wilted I wore it;

I'll always adore it-

My sweet little Alice blue gown.

I know it as "Bruder Jacob" Or:

Frère Jacques, Frère Jacques

Dormez-vous, dormez-vous?

Sonnez les matines, Sonnez les matines.

Ding ding dong, ding ding dong.

I used to know that one !!

All the ones I know are in spanish. I really liked this one:

La mar estaba serena, serena estaba la mar.

Then you replace all the vowels. In the first row are all a.

La mar astaba sarana, sarana astaba la mar.

And then you do the same with the rest of the vowels.

Then there are a list of songs I remember that were really famous, but they are too long to write them here.:bleh:.

Here's an old song that i can barely remember...

"Puedo ser cafe

puedo ser azul

puedo ser violeta cielo"

English:

"I could be brown

i could be blue

i could be violet sky"

.....hold on a sec

I remember learning that in nursery, feels like it was only last year that I was learning it :blush-anim-cl:
