My dinner with Mika

Guess who treats this evening? Mika. Forgiveness? Yes, Mika. And the singer can accept. In spite of two years of madness which he has just lived, the star had the delicate idea, the day before yesterday, of inviting seven journalists around him at table in Fidelity, a restaurant near the Eastern railway station (Paris the Xth century). Those who had believed straightaway in his «Life in Cartoon Motion», at the beginning of 2007, sold in more than a million copies at our place.

« I wanted to spend a little of time with people who supported me from the beginning», he announces in French always quasi perfect. «It is really my first language, I lived here until the age of 7 years. »Then, willy-nilly, the anglo-Lebanese singer treats on us, without big twines either.

Jacket azure, rising beard, little curls and generous smiles, it even passed unobserved by arriving. A kissing here, and here is Mika who already gives news, in the bar, for the drink, between champagne and glass of wine. «I finished my disc three days ago. I recorded fourteen titles in Los Angeles.

There will be eleven on the album. It will be a bit the disc of my adolescence, first agitations, while precedent spoke about my childhood.»

« I am going to put a CD for sale on my Internet site four titles»

ONE waits in mid-September for this CD, preceded of a single in July. Mika will be then in tour in March, 2010 with Bercy in Paris. But he will sing already before summer. «I am going to make some acoustical concerts with ropes on June 11th and 12th to the Winter circus, he explains by ordering a gaspacho of cucumber. A return on stage which will follow the exit of new titles. «I wanted to take back music without thinking of commercial considerations. I am going to put a CD for sale on my Internet site, at the end of the month, four titles " Songs for Sorrow " in only 10 000 copies. It will be available in 15 € in a book of 68 pages illustrated by designers' about twenty, of which Peter Blake who made the case of Sergeant Pepper s of Beatles, Frenchmen de Kerascoët or the couturier Paul Smith. It will be very inspired by ambiences of fairy tale.»

Mika has already a lot said about it while an imposing rib of beef arrives. «This makes too much there, no? »Not sure finally, the time of new confidentiality.

« I am searching a home in one Paris time, in the campaign. I want to spend six months in Paris and six months in London. I would really like to find something on the side of Fontainebleau.» The meat is already far, puts in a bread lost for dessert while the artist remembers his last concerts in France: the Park of the Princes, Francofolies of Rochelle, «one of the best of tour». He was not ironed in Paris since, in spite of calls of the foot of the Élysée Palace.

« Madonna told me strange things on her sexual life»

« When the Lebanese president came in France in March, I accepted an invitation to have dinner with Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. I did not want to enter this game. Carla Bruni, nevertheless, it is incredible! When I think in Taratata that I made with her at my beginning» Mika has a good time, answers, denies mildly: no duet with lady dodderer, no songs for Madonna. «It was never a matter of it. I met Madonna then in Los Angeles in a holiday after Oscars. She told me strange things on her sexual life and drank heavily alcohol.»

It is more than midnight. Meal is ended. The musician feels like making us listen to some pieces of his future disc. They discover Mika more done wonders for the self-confidence there than ever, daring arrangements in technicolour. Special mention in "We Are Golden", impressive symphony pop who would make one tousling single, "Keys «, ballade as mellow as dazzling, or "Rain", small more ambitious sister of «Rest, Take it Easy». Of tasty affectation to conclude a dinner really not as others.

That's hysterical. Best laugh all day :roftl:

Do I need to retranslate or will the online translation do ?

If you feel like retranslating, I wouldn't mind -- I've gotten the gist, but

I'd like to see what you have to say. PM me if you don't want to post it :wink2:

It says there's gonna be 11 songs on the album....does that include the songs on the EP?

the article also says they recorded 14 songs altogether, so 3 songs must not be included in the album, but just in the EP or single/s

Mon dîner avec Mika

Devine qui régale ce soir ? Mika. Pardon ? Oui, Mika.

There is another article in Le Parisien from the previous day. Sorry if it has already been posted:

http://www.leparisien.fr/loisirs-et-spectacles/mika-devoile-son-nouvel-opus-07-05-2009-505373.php

Nothing new... just the gig in New York

I found this..

Guess who's treating us this evening? Mika. What ? Yes, Mika. And the singer knows how to receive. Despite two years of madness which he has just lived, the star had the delicate idea, the day before yesterday, to invite to table seven journalists in la Fidélité, a restaurant near the east station ( Xth Bets). Those who believed from the outset in his "Life in Cartoon Motion", in early 2007, which sold over a million copies in France.

"I wanted to spend some time with the people who have supported me from the very beginning," he announces in a french which is almost always perfect. "It's really my first language, I lived here until the age of 7."

HERE THERE'S AN EXPRESSION AND I DUNNO HOW TO TRANSLATE IT.. SORRY.

Blue jacket, emerging beard, little curls and generous smiles, he even arrived unnoticed arriving. An embrace here, and Mika arrives, already giving us news. In the bar, for the apéritif, champagne and a glass of wine.

" I finished my disk three days ago. I recorded fourteen songs in Los Angeles.

There will be eleven on the album. It will be a bit like the disk of my adolescence, my first emotions, while the first spoke about my childhood. "

"On my website I'm going to sell a CD with four songs"

This CD is due to come out in mid-September, preceded by a single in July. Mika will be on tour in March 2010 with a Bercy in Paris. But he'll sing before then.

" I am going to do some acoustic concerts with strings on June 11th and 12th in the Cirque d'Hiver, he explains, ordering a cucumber gazpacho. A return on stage which will follow the release of new songs. " I wanted to start with the musical side of things without thinking of the commercial side. On my website, at the end of the month, I'm going to sell a CD with four songs called "Songs for Sorrow", but only 10 000 copies.

It will be available for 15 € in a book of 68 pages illustrated by about twenty artists, of whom Peter Blake who made the cover of Sergeant Pepper by the Beatles, the french of Kerascoët or the dressmaker Paul Smith. I was very inspired by fairy tale atmospheres." Mika has already said a lot about it when an impressive beef rib is brought to his table. " That's too much isn't it ?" Mika tucks in and now's the time for more secrets.

"I'm trying to find a house about an hour away from Paris, in the countryside. I want to spend six months in Paris and six months in London. I'd like to find something around Fontainebleau." Dessert now and the artist remembers his last concerts in France: the Parc des Princes, the Francofolies de La Rochelle, "one of the best of the tour ". He hadn't returned to Paris since, despite of appeals from the foot of the Elysee.

"Madonna told me bizarre things about her sex life"

" When the Lebanese president came to France in March, I received an invitation to have dinner with Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni. I didn't want to play along with this. Carla Bruni, all the same, it is incredible! When I think of Taratata that I did with her for my debuts … " Mika enjoys himself, answers, denies things in a friendly way: no duet with Lady Gaga, no songs for Madonna. " I wasn't ever going to. I then met Madonna in Los Angeles at a party after the Oscars. She told me bizarre things about her sex life and she was drinking a lot of alcohol."

It's after midnight. The meal is finished. The musician wants to make us listen to some tracks off his next album. Through them, we discover an incredibely relaxed Mika, daring things in technicolor. A special mention to "We Are Golden", an impressive pop symphony which would make one ruffling single, "Touches", a ballad which is as tender as it is brilliant, or "Rain", a more ambitious younger sister of " Relax, Take it Easy ". Delicious treats to finish off a dinner which is really, like no other.
