I think they came about in the late 1800s. They've been going a good long while. People use the plain ones for dunking in their tea mostly. And then of course, they added chocolate...and dark chocolate, and at one point they had them with chocolate on top and really thin sliver of caramel in between the biscuit and the chocolate. But not nice caramel like you get in Galaxy, that tough kind of caramel that's almost like toffee. They failed on that last one. And the dark chocolate ones fail too because I don't like dark chocolate. OMG you totally know you need to go on a diet when you can relay the entire history and varieties of digestives to someone.
