I have asked the same thing as Sara on other threads...it seems the days of gorgeous and varied stage clothes are gone:blink:

I think he looks like Where's Wally/Where's Waldo:

whereswaldo.jpg

Is that the same as Where's Charlie?

Yes, it's the same. In French he is called Charlie:thumb_yello:

What I would like to know is: why does he always wear that red and white stripey tshirt now? He's wearing it without fail to every single gig . I really don't understand it!

I really wish that he'd vary his stage clothes more often, honestly.

I guess it ties into the concept of his shows as a theatrical production.

It's the costume for the show, and so that's what he wears night after

night -- just like the characters in a West End show wear the same costume

every night. :dunno: I'm not saying I necessarily *like* it, but I think I

do understand it.

Just to say that I totally agree with you. He's really tired after the shows, where he gives his full engery, and yet he still makes time afterwards to meet people like these kids (and the other fans outside) night after night.

This is exactly why he's one of a kind, and why I love him :wub2:. Because in these gestures, he shows what a kind hearted person he is.

Yes, we've said it time and again... he really is very special, especially

in this regard. :wub2:

Here's my report!

Villa Manin is an amazing place!!! The queue was a lot better than Rome thanks also to Giulietta who was in charge for the numeric system :thumb_yello:

I had the feeling (don't ask me why) that the gig was in hurry...Mika sang almost without stops between songs...but...his voice was great and the band was amazing!

I missed Imma who came in the afternoon to chat with fans :boxed: Everybody said she was adorable as usual!

We met Mika outside after the gig but he was in hurry again :naughty: so he only shook people's hands and no autographs and stuff like that.

I was a bit sad about that but...hope to have more time in the next gig :wink2:

ok, will try a report now, although i'm still a bit ill (caught a stomach flu that kept me up most of last night), and hadn't slept properly for a week or so (never again a camping holiday, at least not by train! ... or that's what i say NOW, until i forget the bad sides of this experience... :teehee:)

part 1: my holiday / pre-gig

well, i left for italy / lido di jesolo on july 2nd, to spend 4 days sunbathing at the beach before the gig. travelling with that ca. 30kg bag on trains and buses was horrible, but once i was there and had set up my tent, the holiday was quite nice, apart from millions of mosquitoes, and lack of sleep, since in a tent the sun & heat wakes you up in the early morning (and you know me, i never make it to bed in time to be fully awake so early, lol!). but you don't really need sleep, if all you do all day is sit/lie at the beach and be lazy. :bleh: got a nice tan as well. :biggrin2:

allegra was so kind to find+book a nice+cheap bed+breakfast for us in codroipo, right next to villa manin, for the night of the gig... but considering all the options, i decided that i wanted to go there already 1 day earlier, instead of dragging my heavy bag through a bunch of trains and buses on the gig day, and therefor arriving late, sweaty, and totally knackered. so i called the b+b, and since that woman only spoke italian and french, i had to rely on my very very basic french knowledge and am still surprised that i managed to ask the price, book a room, and tell her my time of arrival and that i'd have a room the next day too with my friends, and it really all worked out!! the things mika makes me do. making a phone call in french. i'd have told anyone they're crazy, if they had said i'd ever do that, lol! :naughty:

so, i arrived at the b+b the evening before the gig, and went walking around a bit, to see where all the entrances were, and generally what the whole area looked like. actually the gig was not even in codroipo, but in passagio, which consists of the villa and of about 20 more houses, 2 bars and 2 restaurants, and that's it. i guess that's the only time i can say that i saw ALL of the "town" that mika was playing in, lol! anyway, the raw stage was already standing when i arrived, and they only added the decoration and details the next day. the b+b was really lovely, very comfortable, and a nice owner, who had 10 cats - of which 2 came into my room when i left the window open. aww i love cats!! :wub2: there was one fluffy one too, but she chose to ignore me, and ran away when i tried to come close, pfft. :sneaky2: well, she probably knew i'd fluff her to pieces if i got hold of her! :lmao:

then, gig day. i was used to waking up at 6-7am by then, so that's what happened there too - and so i arrived at the villa at ca. 7:30am. guess that's the earliest i ever started queuing for a mika gig! :naughty: no one was there when i arrived, but i wasn't sure where the queue would be, so i went around the venue 1x, to see if there was someone anywhere else - there wasn't, but when i came back, there was a curly guy with a golden hat sitting in a chair, it turned out that he was luca, who is also on mfc. (hi luca! :bye:). we decided to start with the numbers, chatted a bit, and soon after, faballa arrived, and a bit later, while i was at the b+b, the girls from rome came with their bus. i got an update from them about the rome gig (kick ass shirtless? why wasn't i there, arrgh!! xD :naughty:), and we also chatted a bit, before they went off to get their stuff to their rooms. later when they got back, i handed the numbers list to them, to go on with it, since it was easier for italian speakers to explain the system to newbies. :wink2:

part 2: queuing and gig

i guess this must've been the nicest queuing i ever had, in this beautiful setting of villa manin, quite warm but not too hot since we got a place in the shade, watching the stage being set up and later the soundcheck (didn't see mika though, just the band, although i think i heard him one time...). at some point i saw imma and david standing between the stage and the barriers, and i went to the barrier and called for imma, since i had bought her a little bday present in lido di jesolo... they had so much hello kitty stuff there, that made me think of imma, and since it was her birthday just last week, i bought her a hello kitty stick with a fan on the one and a lollipop on the other side. i thought a fan wouldn't be a bad idea with those temperatures! :naughty: some more people joined me waiting for imma, including luca, who had made a banner for her, which she adored. :wub2: she liked my present too, and even tweeted me about it (which i only was able to read today, but i was told about her tweet), so sweet of her! :wub2:

fast forward a few hours, at 6 we had to leave the area where the stage was and go outside of the walls of villa manin, where barriers were set up, and the numbered people got an extra entrance again, and were let in 10 minutes before everyone else (thanx john! :wub2:). of course with my good number, i got a front row centre spot - but since at the very centre, there was some cable thing on the floor where it wasn't easy to stand, i went to the barrier left to it, and tiibet ended up on the centre spot on this cable thing... guess it was impossible to jump on that thing (or was it, tiibet?), i had to be really careful myself, at one point i hurt my foot a bit when slipping off the barrier platform sideways. well, but i don't wanna complain, that centre spot is perfect for getting lots of eye contact from mika, and taking some really good pix+videos. :bleh: and i had nice company too, with faballa on one and tiibet on my other side. :original:

so, the gig... mika was in such a fab & silly mood, joking around and all - like, during sitm, he pulled out the plug of martin's guitar :lmfao: and jimmy stole his microphone, that was hilarious! :lmao: from what i remember, the setlist was:

relax

big girl

sitm

dr john

blue eyes

billy brown

touches you

rain

biotg

kick ass

oms

happy ending

love today

we are golden

toy boy

gk

lollipop

it was so fab to finally see kick ass live! :wub2: actually tiibet wanted to film it, but since the battery of her camera had died, and i knew that i wouldn't be able to film it, due to an acute uber-enthusastic dancing and singing syndrome :naughty:, i just gave her my camera, so she filmed it with that one. (thanx tiibet! :wub2:)

part 3: gig and m+g

i absolutely love this flower background, which was there during all the gig. so beautiful! :wub2: no skulls or clowns or videoscreens this time, just flowers. and the inflatable mika letters (ok, there were some skulls on those... :naughty:). also those flower costumes of mika+band are so fab! only noticed now that obviously mika has several different flower vests... the one from yesterday had a huge spider on the back, which i only noticed later on the pix... eek!! but i'm sure i hadn't seen that one before on other pix, i'd remember! *g* (haven't seen any pix from the last week though).

he mentioned the "dyslexic generation" banner at one point, and said sth like that it's probably the weirdest banner he ever got. and the best. and at another point he said that he messed up so many words, and that he thinks that touring makes you stupid. :naughty:

before toy boy, he said that he has dreams about this piano part going on for one hour, and while everyone would be booing and leaving, he'd still be sitting there, doing this piano part. :lmfao: got those talking parts on video, and also some songs, will upload them probably tomorrow.

the gig seemed a bit too short for me, though i really don't know why... he played almost as many songs as on the other tour, and talked almost as much as well i think. :dunno: but maybe it really was just those 2 missing songs (ggg and aow) that made the difference. no idea. i just know that the arena tour gigs had the ideal length for me, and this gig seemed shorter, so i somehow had the feeling that something was missing. but guess i'm just spoiled from the arena tour. :naughty: still of course i had a fab time. :biggrin2: in the end, mika bowed to the crowd (like ), so i guess he enjoyed it too. :bleh:

so, after the show, we went the long way around to the back of the venue, where the backstage entrance was. there would've been shorter ways to the back, but they were blocked. so we waited at the back, and it quickly became more+more people, since the public parking places were next to the backstage entrance. guess it was ca. 100 people waiting. we didn't have to wait long, until john came and talked with the security guys how to best set up the queue. they found a way, and john left, and the security guy tried to set up the queue. what was weird though, he said everyone would get a picture with mika, that's why he said we had to form ONE line, so everyone could get the pic. we knew this couldn't be true, guess that guy must've misunderstood what john said.

inside of the barriers, there was a group of people, who later turned out to be the group with that dyslexic banner. mika arrived in a van together with his family (i think most of his siblings were there), and got out behind the barrier, to meet that group, took a pic with them, and chatted with them for a bit. then he came over to us. there was one line behind the barrier, and then the line was going on along the street. mika seemed in a hurry, and it first looked like he wouldn't go along the whole line at all, but just to those directly at the barrier. he shook everyones hands and at the beginning mostly just quickly said hi to people, but later also chatted to some for a bit longer, and enjoyed getting presents. :naughty: anyway, i feared he'd get in the car after greeting those directly at the barrier, since the car was waiting there (it followed him along the line later). luckily he didn't, but came to me to shake hands, and when i asked him how he was, he said sth like good but he needs some sleep because he had to drive to serbia. and he told me he liked my outfit. :-D i was wearing a long colourful dress with flowers, and some flowers in my hair, round my neck and in my face. and i told him i loved his flower background. :biggrin2:

ok, that's basically it i guess. and since i can't keep my eyes open anymore now, i wish you all a good night. ;-) will post pix+vids tomorrow.

Thanks for writing reports! :wub2: And thanks for the company, the whole day was a lot of fun!

That cable thing, yes... I wanted to be near Mellody and Faballa because of flower things (Mellody had a flower dress and Faballa had a flower in her hat and I had a flower as a brooch), and the cable spot was free (because it was not so easy to jump on it), so I just went there. I saw it was in the middle, and of course it was a bit embarrassing, but everything happened so fast and it was a great view after all. I had to tell the girl behind me that it was impossible to fit her next to me because of cables, and she really didn't want to believe me at first :sneaky2: but she did after a couple of songs. Actually, it was a very easy place for me because I was standing higher than usually and the barrier was lower in the middle, and I'm short... :teehee:

And agree about queueing, it was so relaxed and everything went well. I was panicking when people started to crowd but there was no need for a panic, we got a well organized numbered queue, thanks to Giulletta and were let in before another queue, thanks to John, again! And the venue was beautiful! :wub2:

Have you checked your vids yet, Karin? :biggrin2:

...and actually close to the stage (only 3 persons in front of me):biggrin2:...it was AMAZING...HE WAS AMAZING...I'm sooo happy for going to see MIKA's gig, even though I had to do a few things (not very nice things :blush-anim-cl:) to get there. I took a day off telling my boss I have 2 appointments at the doctor, I lied to my future sister-in-law who knew I was at work, I didn't tell anyone what I was about to do. Just took the train, waited for 8 hours at Villa Manin for the gig to begin. After all this waiting, I felt everything finished so fast...it lasted only 1 and half hour  ...and didn't even get to hear 2 of my favorites songs ("I see you" and "Pick up the floor"). Plus: I had a big post written for MIKA saying "PROUD 2B ALSO BORN ON AUGUST THE 18TH - LOVE MIKA 2DAY" , but I think HE couldn't see too much of it because of the lousy paper I wrote on which wouldn't stand right :furious:...I also hoped for a pic at MEET&GREET, but that didn't happen either ...And, for a glorious ending of the day, I had to wait 4 hours in the middle of the night for the train to come to get back home, slept in the toilet of the train station :roftl: because it was chilly outside :wink2: and then, after arriving in Verona, got directly to work. Isn't that niiiice??

But you know what?? I DON'T REGRET ANY OF THAT...Because I enjoyed every single minute of the show, singing, dancing, screaming, watching THE GREAT MAN at work on an amazing stage ("film set" as he says)...It's obvious that he enjoys so much what he's doing...feeling free to act, to perform...I simply love HIM, admire HIM...If only I get to see MIKA more:wub2::wub2::wub2:...

Well, that's my report...Hope it wasn't too long or boring...Keep in touch everybody:cool:

slept all day, since i was feeling really ill again this morning... but now i'm feeling much better. :biggrin2: so i've started preparing & uploading stuff tonight. for a start, some videos... i have 3 more (love today shooting, talk before toy boy, and some bits of the m+g), will upload them tomorrow together with the pix. :wink2:

talk & sitm:

kick ass (filmed by tiibet):

bits of biotg & lollipop:

talk & oms:

band introduction & happy ending:

btw, something i forgot to mention in my report... the support act was some DJ, who was on stage for over an hour iirc... mika only came on about 9:30. some of the music the DJ played was quite good, but in general he wasn't really that entertaining.
