GlitterGoat
I hope you're all ok (wherever in the world you are) I'm Lewis (but that's far too formal), so let's twist it up a bit & pronounce it 'Louie'... most people do. It sounds much friendlier, right? There.. ok.. I'm 24. I'm officially from North UK at the moment, but always seem to find myself down South (in the London area) every month, which will hopefully be a permanent move soon. I love the South London music scene & surround myself with musicians, performers (artsy people are the best, right!?) =) I remember first hearing Mika, whilst at school (2007 era.) My musical tastes were pretty basic & radio-based, you know.. kind of just evolving with the "top 40" charts every week..not too intellectual, haha. It's only been in the last 5 years that I feel I've grown to respect music, much more as an art-form. * Analysing & pulling my own personal interpretation from lyrics, listening to different musician's songwriting processes. * Discovering "behind the scenes" talent (i.e. songwriters, collaborators, producers) & recognizing some incredibly talented names that don't get half as much credit as they should. * Educating myself about the workings of the music industry & hearing first-hand stories about it. * Buying music! <- So important! In my school days, I used to be one of those people who would just illegally download most of my music & delete it after a few weeks. I think there's just big satisfaction in knowing that you've financially supported someone, in order for them to continue doing what they love to do and what you love to discover. So as I'm pretty new to PROPERLY RE-discovering Mika's music, I definitely can't profess to be some kind of Mika Superfan, I guess :/ It's just weird, listening to his music, years later & really connecting with it. It's more than just a 'catchy song' this time you know. I also think he's extremely humble, polite, intriguing & such a likeable man, who deserves all the success. I love his perspective on things. I'm sure he has an avid, dedicated fanbase & as he doesn't perform much in the UK anymore, I will attend a show or 2 this year (probably around the Aug/Sept mark). As I'm already an avid traveler, this doesn't bother me, but it'd be nice to maybe meet some of you there, if anyone is attending. I love meeting new people! GlitterGoat
Wow, you guys are literally from all over the world! ? hello ireland! I grew up surrounded by the Irish & dye my hair bright apple green, every week, so I'm convinced I'm Irish at heart :] They also know how to have a good time ? I did see the Hyde Park date, lovelies.. however, I'm always dubious about festivals. You never know how long the sets are (for each person) & other than Mika, none of the other acts appeal to me (hope there's no killer Kylie fans here!)? I dunno, I guess I find the other shows a bit more one-to-one & an overall better experience. I've been to festivals in the past & couldn't recall 80% of it, due to alcohol? As this will be my first Mika concert, I kinda want to get more from it (i.e. the full Mika experience), if u know what I mean haha ? I definitely won't completely rule out Hyde Park though... P.s. yes, I do tend to ramble a lot, haha. I just.... type... and then realise I've just published an essay, once I see it go up Hugs x
