«Me ne frego. Google translator Mika, energy and rebirth: «The Italian public has finally entered my world» The singer-songwriter and showman closes his tour at the No Borders Music Festival: «From now on I will no longer be afraid to be myself» Mika's relationship with Italy is long and consolidated. Yet only with this summer's tour, which ends on Sunday 23rd at the No Borders Music Festival, did the showman feel "discovered" by the public, flooded with a strong and profound energy. How did it go? «It was a nice surprise. I had the feeling that people were now discovering my way of communicating on stage because there hadn't been an opportunity to do that before. Maybe they had seen me on TV, but TV is another thing.» What happens on stage? «There is the eclecticism of my music: you laugh, you cry, you jump like at a rave in Ibiza, and for me this mix of serious, absurd, irony and emotion is very important. So for the first time the Italian public entered my world, I know it's strange because I've done so many concerts here. But sports halls are different from summer festivals». Was it a rebirth? «Absolutely and it has changed my relationship with this country, I say this without exaggerating. Finally in Italy I was able to rediscover the energy that I find at festivals in France, Asia or America. This will change my way of communicating with Italy, in all aspects» How? «I'll never be afraid to be myself again.» A duet of yours with a blind girl who was at the Matera concert went viral: what ties have you created with the public? «There were crazy moments. At my concerts there is a tradition of carrying signs with questions, messages and requests. In her case I didn't understand that she didn't see until she arrived on stage and the duet was very intense. But then there were people who came to play or dance, others with identical looks to mine, a nurse recited a poem. Everything happened. At Umbria Jazz I moved the piano into the audience 10 minutes before the start, and all this made each show different». How does your way of being on stage change in relation to the context? «Everything changes: gestures, clothes, lineup. A concert like that of No Borders, at 2 pm, in full daylight, brings a sense of infinity. The public is very close and harmony with the place is needed. The artist must always be provoked and this too is provocation. You have to almost get to discomfort because in discomfort there is more creativity and less premeditation. A naturalistic context like this creates a sort of spiritual nudism». No Borders, without borders: is it fitting for you, citizen of the world and artist full of contaminations? «I am obsessed with borders because I think that creativity and art are the most poetic and strongest way to erode, override and dismantle them. In a world that is changing rapidly, I think removing them is madness, they are also there to push, provoke and contaminate from one side to the other.» The idea of borders recalls that of migrations. «Even there it is impossible to think of having no borders, but the history of the human being is that of his movements and exchanges between countries allow light to pass through. It is no coincidence that the darkest moments were those in which the borders were less permeable and coincided with the walls». You said that the last few years have not been easy, on an artistic and personal level. The worst is over? «With the slogan of the tour, "may your head always bloom", I had first of all launched a challenge to myself, that is, precisely to make my head bloom. And the fact that I am now in a research phase is a sign that perhaps yes, it is passing. I feel a ferocious creativity and two years ago I could not have said it». He will turn 40 in August: how does he live it? «I do not care. If they had asked me two years ago I would have answered that it was an important number, but now that my creative process is fierce again I really don't think about it». Isn't that a good age? «No, it's somewhere in between m... It's not a small enough number to feel young and naive and it's not high enough to be wise or mature.» But how does he feel? «I feel a little dangerous, in a good way. In the sense that anything is possible.» Will he get himself a gift? “I don't need a gift, but I found a tavern in Greece where you eat barefoot on the beach, with husband and wife cooking. And this in my opinion, in all its simplicity (and even a little inconvenience) is the most beautiful thing I can do» Corriere della Sera Page 1 Page 34 6 hours ago, Kumazzz said: Goigest IG story https://www.instagram.com/stories/goigest/3152841885924522578/ Corriere della Sera WEB https://www.corriere.it/spettacoli/23_luglio_22/01-spettacoli-documentoacorriere-web-sezioni-1df133d8-28a4-11ee-89c0-53762a55bc2e.shtml Pressreader https://pressreader.com/article/282484303250248 Snapinsta.app_video_119370200_297436322652215_6035661734336817242_n.mp4 841.67 kB · 0 downloads 1
