Seeing as my true love has always been RT in Queen, it is most important to me to get to see him again if I can. The first time was at Yokohama Stadium in 2005, the night after the performance at Saitama Super Arena which became the Super Live QPR DVD. (I am a bit sleepy and the exact name escapes me)

Just the other day someone mentioned not having heard John's voice, and as if by magic, David Fuller just posted this on youtube (David, buddy, are you on MFC too???)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3wkCR1TR89Q and you can hear each of them speak. :wink2:

I know what you mean about wanting to see Rog cos he's your favorite. Freddie has always been my favorite, but I just love the guys too much to pass the opportunity to see them! I mean...getting to hear Brian play his Red Special...and hearing Roger play the drums....plus, hearing some of my all-time fave songs...what more could I ask for???

Yesss!!

Gosh...hearing Roger and Brian sing their own songs was really great too!

I never would've thought I'd get to hear Brian sing '39 and Roger sing Radio Ga Ga! That was so amazing!

I think Radio Ga Ga was my favourite song!

And someone yelled at me to sit down during I Want It All. I was so angry. haha It's not like we were far away! We were about..12 rows up!

Ugh, I *hate* it when people sit down at concerts! We had a bunch of older people behind us at our concert, but I didn't sit down for one song. LOL I figure, if I paid a lot for a ticket, I deserve the right to have as much fun as I want to and that just happens to include standing up and dancing to my favorite music. LOL :P

My favorite song had to be Love of My Life.

EXACTLY!! I was so angry! And this person wasn't even old! He was perfectly capable of standing. And I Want It All isn't a slow song!

I stood up half way through anyway!

Ah, that one was a tear jerker!

I just found my concert review of the show! I always write reviews if the concert is super special and then put it in my concert book. :)

I can understand your frustration! I have never been told to sit down, but I know if anyone ever did tell me to I would have to say no. Concerts are meant for standing and dancing! It's music, for crying out loud!

"Well, first thing is first when I say that SEEING QUEEN + PAUL WAS THE

MOST AWESOME THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!! *ahem* yeah.

My sister and I traveled 9 hours to Wisconsin so we could stay with her friend and attend the St. Paul show. We initially considered going to Chicago (how unfortunate that we didn't spring for both shows), too, but we thought going to Minnesota would be a big enough event, which it was.

On the day of the show we did a lot of sight-seeing and shopping at the Mall of America. All of us (including my sister's friend Daniel, who is fairly new to Queen) were excited. On the way to the arena we sang lots of Queen songs to pump ourselves up, although I don't think we really needed anymore pumping at that point! We got there around 6:30pm or so and I bought $130 worth of merchandise (a hoodie, a Mercury Phoenix Trust bracelet, and two tour programs).

When we reached our seats, we were amazed with how good they were. My sister, who is much like me and doesn't swear all that often, gasped at the view and exclaimed "Holy sh*t!" I told her she could thank me for getting the excellent seats. Actually, we weren't on the floor, but we were right opposite with the stage and the view was just wonderful. We really could enjoy ALL the sites from there!

We were pretty thrilled at this point and all the more eager to see the guys in action. The crowd seemed very mixed - there were tons of younger people and quite a few "older" people. The turnout was pretty good, although I wished *everyone* was as happy as I was to be there.

As soon as I heard the remix of "It's a Beautiful Day" I began to flip out. I don't think a lot of people knew it was Freddie singing as nobody gave much of a reaction, but I think this may have been that the lights were left on. People did begin to clap to the beat, which built the anticipation that much more!

One of the biggest highlights for me was when the music was playing with the curtain still shut, BUT YOU COULD HEAR THE RED SPECIAL FROM BEHIND THE CURTAIN! I yelled to my sister "It's the RED SPECIAL" as if she was unaware, but she knew as well as I did!

We were little giddy kids at this point with humongous grins on our faces. I even felt a little compelled to hug my sister, because I was just so overwhelmed with joy to be seeing my heroes on stage.

I can't tell all of you how many times I had told myself in the past that I would never see Queen. I had accepted this fact a long time ago, just because seeing them felt like such a long shot and even entertaining the idea of seeing them came across as depressing to me. The fact that it was actually happening to me didn't even seem real.

So, to say the least, I was like a raving maniac for the entire show and I am sure to the strangers around me, I will always be thought of as "That obnoxious woman at the Queen concert that wouldn't sit still for the entire show," but what the hey. It's Queen. 'Nuff said. I thought Paul was really great. I even began to love him mid-way the show, because he is

a big part that I got to see Queen live. A recurring thought I had during the show was "Now I can die a happy woman." Well, pretty dang happy anyway.

When Brian gave his speech at the beginning of LOML, I found it very moving and an awesome tribute to Freddie. I was awe stuck by this performance that I began to cry - A LOT. I know that probably sounds strange, though again, I couldn't believe I was singing those lyrics back to Brian. It was just so surreal to me...especially to have watched people sing those lyrics back to Freddie, while never imagining myself getting the chance

to do that with ANY Queen member. It was one of the greatest moments of my life.

I was so pleased that Under Pressure was performed, especially since the songs they were playing didn't match the handout of the setlist that we got before we went into the arena. When UP was skipped, I became very disppointed. So here's the deal, this may be wishful thinking on my part, but I think I may have made Brian chuckle when he announced UP. I know, it's a long shot but I for one am willing to deceive myself on this for the rest of my life. But anyway, when Brian was giving the speech he said something

along these lines: "Well, a couple of years ago, we wrote a song with a man by the name of David Bowie...." *VERY loud scream/squeal from the crowd, which would be me*....and then Brian chuckled and paused the speech for a moment. So yeah, long shot, but it's going to be something special to me anyway.

Radio Ga Ga was exactly what I was hoping for. I was glad to see that lots of people participated in the music video movements.

BoRhap nearly had me chocked up again, but it was so wonderful how the guys arranged the performance. I really could not think up a better way for them to present that song and I love how they seemed extra respectful to this song. I love the montages and seeing Freddie made me say to myself how much I wished he was there, too.

WWRY/WATC were both awesome, of course, and really need no explaining as to why!

My sister told me after the show how bad she felt that we stood in front of the people that sat directly behind us for the whole show. I replied, "I hate to say it, but I don't care! If they wanted to see, they needed to stand up and cheer, too. Plus, I waited nearly ten years to see Queen and I'm not going to feel bad for enjoying myself to the fullest."

My top five performances were probably these in no order:

- Love of My Life

- BoRhap

- Radio Ga Ga

- Under pressure

- WWRY"

AAAH! I have chills!! haha Gosh..so many memories you just brought back!

I don't think they did Under Pressure at mine. *sobs* OR A Kind Of Magic. That made me sad. haha But oh well!

Hmm..I have a review too somewhere..

"It was October 16, 2005. One of the days that would define my life. My mother and I arrived at Conteintel Airlines Arena about 7:30, SHOWTIME! We rushed in and bought a Freddie Mercury tee-shirt and a program. I heard two ignorant boys behind me making rude comments about Freddie being gay. >=( Got me a little mad.We were at our seats RIGHT NEXT TO THE STAGE. It felt just as though we were on the floor. Finally, the lights dimmed, and I heard Paul Rodgers's amazing voice, I instanty got chills all up and down my body. It was INCREDIBLE. I was in utter shock once that curtain dropped. Roger came down and sang Say It's Not True a little into the show. I looked at my mother and hugged her and her started to cry. You see, it was the fifth anniversary of my uncle's death by AIDS on the third. It was very emotional, but I really loved the song.Brian came down to sing Love Of My Life and '39. Of course I cried during Love Of My Life. HYSTERICALLY. I also cheered VERY loudly, loud enough for Bri to hear me and actually smile at me!!We sat right next to the stage, where they would all enter and exit the stage. During Bri's solo, Roger walked off the stage. I saw him being escorted off by security guards with flashlights, and screamed 'ROGER! ROGER I LOVE YOU' SO loud! I think I startled him. He looked over at me and SMILED AND WAVED! GAH!!At one point my mother said I was embarassing her by screaning so loud. heheThe highlight of the concert for me HAD to be Radio Ga Ga. I was calpping and singing along to all the words, and during the middle of the song, my mother poked me and said, "Jessica, the guy on guitar with the big hair is looking at you." My heart skipped about a million beats. I looked, and sure enough, BRIAN MAY WAS MAKING DIRECT EYE CONTACT WITH ME! I SWEAR TO GOD! And it was for a good 30 seconds! I jumped up and down and waved, and he smiled and said something to me!! After a minute he looked away and walked to the other side of the stage. That made my life. All in all it was an amazing night. This concert was definitely better than the second. I got every person on stage to wave. Paul, Bri, and Roger. Best night of my life BY FAR!"

haha, It's poorly written since I wrote it a while ago, sorry. This was my first show. The second show's review is waaaay too long for me to post.haha

Aw, your review was awesome too! What's with the guys making rude comments about Freddie at a *Queen Concert*??? Wow, some people... Glad they didn't ruin the night for you!

Yeah, I was so scared they wouldn't do Under Pressure because they kept switching up the setlist! I was so glad when Brian seemed to laugh at my cheering. That made the entire thing so much better! LOL we're such nerds....our lives revolve around getting Brian May's attention at concert. *giggles* :)

Thanks for posting that!

Roger Taylor is to help open the Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium this weekend.

Roger will be joined by Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) as part of a spectacular drumming extravaganza that will kick off the show.:punk: :punk: :punk:

just in case anyone was interested....

Actually, I was late in warning you.

Here is the news from BBC online:

1.30pm - The drumming starts

Things kick off with a massed diaplay of drumming led by Queen's Roger Taylor. I banish all thoughts of drummer jokes, as do the crowd who are clearly loving every minute. It's a good start.

So... obviously it all started with We Will Rock You.:punk: :punk: :punk:

My only excuse for not paying enough attention to this concert is that I just don't get what the purpose is ....

I mean.. OK, icebergs melting due to global warming, seroius conserquences... blah blah.

BUT ANYONE WITH A CONCRETE AGENDA OF ACTIONS THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR???? I don't think so.

....and, at the same time, let me congratulate you!

I can see you are a newbie and you started on the best possible thread:biggrin2:

:woot_jump: I love it!!! (the start, I mean) So powerful I almost dropped my coffee! I was really happy to see Roger there... keeping Queen alive, once again. :thumb_yello:

About the concert and it's purpose.. yeah.. I think the intention was good to raise awareness abt global warming, but I really don't know if people pay attention to it. It becomes more an opportunity to see some artists together. Still I enjoyed it. :wink2:

Ooh, that's a tough question!

Freddie-The March Of The Black Queen

Brian-Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together) or White Man

Roger-Breakthru (loooove it!) or Rock It! (Prime Jive)

John-Spread Your Wings
