Hi guys :) I'm new here... Finally joined! Anyways, here are the FULL lyrics, I'm absolutely positive they're right:

~

Karen a 30 ans, Mais Elle n'a rien d'autre à faire

So, there they are... Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I didn't see them this complete anywhere else. Also, rest assured that I did get extra credit for this!:thumb_yello:

I've seen it but haven't been inside, it's in a touristic part of Paris (but what part is not touristic :aah:) so you can't really miss it :wink2:

I guess...my friend showed me the pics and outside it's beautiful but not much inside, I think it needs a coat of pain :naughty:

That pic is beautiful and you look gorgeous!:blush-anim-cl:

Thank you :blush-anim-cl:

and you have the best siggy EVER :wub2:

I went there twice but closed... and I came across a dirty old pervert try to touch me :sneaky2: disgusted so never near there after...I think this is quite dangerous place for girls.... :sneaky2:

Yes it's kinda dangerous but I was during the day, it's because of Pigalle... and you can imagine how men looked at me there walking wearing this :aah: But I had lucky cos I met one french guy who helped me to find it and I wasn't alone :wink2:

I wasn't alone but if not with men it's useless...I was there around noon but Sunday and rained so not many ppl there but many perverts : anyways I just got a bad memory near 82 rue des martyrs

Me and my friend wore feminine dress at that time ...felt like every local passenger stares at us...:mf_rosetinted:

Sorry about the perverts.

One of the reasons I don't care for this song is it all sounds a bit seedy. :naughty:

I love that song... but that place is seedy a lot.... :mf_rosetinted: But there were many shops and places for artists so I assume that's the reason that attracted Mika.... but not a place for girls :naughty:

Are the lyrics of the studio-version the same?

And could someone translate the lyrics again, please? I could only found a translation of a very early lyrics-version without corrections in this thread :(

I try my best but it's never easy to translate lyrics

Karen is 20, yes but Karen has nothing else, and time is already going by

Leaning on the bar Rue des Martyrs, 82, Karen looks back on her life

She would like a better life than her brothers and sisters who fell into line

Karen says that Paris is big, that another life is waiting for her,

She says nobody will buy her

So Karen relies on her lipstick and moves

She says she's better than this

Karen doesn't care she's free, she's free

Karen says she'll be a star, she sleeps with bastards

She says people will envy her

Karen always drinks in your honour, sings other people's songs,

Sings her dreams and ours

Sings at the Bistrot 82

Karen is 30 but she's got nothing else to do

Not even having children not even dusting

She lives with her mother two streets away from the 82

One day love came

It knocked on her door, she shouted at it to make it leave

'I don't open to strangers'

Karen says that Paris is big, that another life is waiting for her,

She says nobody will buy her

Karen still relies on her lipstick and moves

She says she's better than this

Karen doesn't care she's free, she's free

Karen says she'll be a star, she sleeps with bastards

She says people will envy her

Karen always drinks in your honour, sings other people's songs,

Sings her dreams and ours

Sings at the Bistrot 82

Karen is 50, she's got no allowances no money

She smokes and coughs on a small white bed

She thinks about going to have a drink at the 82

But she will die just before

On her old rotten mattress

This wretched spring which is hurting her sides

Karen says that life is hard, that she's heading for disaster

She says nobody will stop her

Karen then places her bet on darkness

Closes her eyes and goes away

Without understanding why, Karen goes away, she's free, she's free

Karen says she'll be a star, she sleeps with bastards

She says people will envy her

Karen always drinks in your honour, sings other people's songs,

Sings her dreams and ours

Sings at the Bistrot 82

Etoile2rose, "Karen" could be compared to other songs, French ones or English ones. You know, like "Cendrillon" by Téléphone or "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Show must go on" by Queen.

Neither of them were nice, sweet songs but many people loved (and still love) them and sung along or even danced on them.
