  1. wow, isnt it amazing how like 99.9%of people are affraid of some sort of insect? i'll probably get tomatoed, but i love insects, and spiders, i love to pick them up and have them climb up my arm and see everybody get sick to their stomachs just at the sight of it, oh, and snakes...damn, i miss Steve Irwin...my hero i dont think there's any animal i have a phobia for. instead, i can't stand to have pictures taken of me. point a camera at me and i'll freak out. and i keep having the same nightmares every once in a while..the oldest one i can remember is the one where i'm trying to scream but nothing comes out, which is really scary for some reason, and now i keep dreaming that my guitar is being smashed or torn apart or even that it melts;weird, i know; and lately, i've been so affected by global warming that i keep having these apocaliptical nightmares well, i cant really call these fears, but its the best i can come up with...not that i'm not the most affraid person on the planet...i am, i just cant put my finger on it
  2. wow, that is really, genuinely great work! and i love how you made it so stylized. i can never pull that off!i'm utterly impressed!
  3. this is such a great thing you guys are doing, but at first i was pretty hesitant about it, because i am very lousy at these things and i didnt want to add some more work for you sivan...however, my internet connection broke down a few days ago and all i kept thinking was what an idiot i was for not taking this chance...so, i guess i'm in:)! juley from Romania, that is(i also thought it would be nice to represent my country and all), but, i still have some things that are holding me back a bit, but i'm following the commit first, sort out later phylosophy:wink2: ; main thing would be that the only picture of myself that i have on my computer is ...well...just of my hands(its my avatar actually) because i am the biggest picturephobe known to man and i erase almost all photos of myself. would that be a huge issue?
  4. Hey!it's just the same in romanian, i had no idea. the site is http://www.playpiano.com and the link to the free offer is http://www.playpiano.com/free_offer.htm; i've only gone through the first couple of lessons and its pretty useful.it does seem a bit intimidating at times but you figure it out eventually and make amazing progress in a short period of time, and it's meant for adults so it doesnt take that much time at all; if it doesnt work for you, i'm sure there are plenty more on the web. and i dont have a piano either, just a dusty three-octave keyboard that's missing a key and one of the speakers, but where there's a will, there's a way. so if you enjoy playing the piano, i'm sure you'll find the time and means to do it eventually! i'm really glad i could help out:)
  5. it is an international language! you see, i had no idea either...i studied piano for 4 years in primary school and didnt get round to learning chords and stuff like that, and i could only read sheet music and thought that was the whole thing. but then i taught myself guitar, and they use tabs to write music so that you can easily read/write it in electronic format...and this is unanimous, regardless of the country you're in and what you call the notes there. and recently i was looking for piano sheet music, but its really hard to find for modern songs, so i came across piano tabs and thats how i realised it works in the same way...basically, the most basic note, if i may say so,is C(in romanian it's called DO, i'm not sure if it's the same in french) and the next are D, E, F, G, A, B and C again..it's simple right? and this way you can translate tabs into sheet music; only, if you wanna play by ear and things like that, you'll have to go a bit deeper; i'm a bit busy with school now but when i'll have time i'll start taking some chord theory classes over the internet...some are free and some cost a bit, but you can get an idea of what its all about and progressively evolve from there on your own. if you really like playing the piano, you might want to find some similar lessons on the net...just google something like 'learn to play chord piano' or 'chord piano lessons'and dont forget to include the word free:wink2: if you like, i'm gonna post the link to a site where you can find a lot of offers for lessons like these including a free yearlong weekly newsletter that is pretty basic, but gets you started, that's the one i'm gonna take up. i'm not really good at explaining things, but i hope this gives you an idea and who knows, even motivates you to find out some more for yourself! good luck!
  6. sorry for butting in, but i cant go to bed without tipping my hat to all you lovely lovely people; its so amazing how this community feels so 'homey', even though it has hundreds of members(or is it thousands allready?); and to think that when i first joined, and i am ashamed to admit it, i just did it to download mika goodies and now i spend so much time here that i'm neglecting school and sleep hours, not that i mind it(i know it doesnt show, because i've spent more time just surfin around reading all the great conversations here(and sending out death threats:naughty: -don't worry, just kiddin) than actually posting, but i'll get round to that too eventually)...anyhow, i'm really glad i did join and hope we'll still be here chatting about mika's best of album in 15years
  7. well, since i got the album, stuck in the middle and any other world have been making up a lot of ground, but...it's still grace kelly, no doubt about it, couldn't say why though...it's just so...right; oh, this seems so unfair to all the other songs, they're all so great...oh well
  8. awww...that's such a beautiful story, the kind i'd make up with my friends, and it would start with 'wouldn't it be nice if...' and end with me being called a Mika-maniac, which is always nice... i'm really happy for you and your family(and secretly hope that your luck will somehow rub off on me too:biggrin2: )
  9. damn...the spaces between the chords didn't come out right...well i don't think i can fix it, so you'll just have to listen to the song and work the timing out for yourselves..sorry
  10. Well, i sorta improvised a piano version for grace kelly, so, if you wanna try, here it is! It's far from accurate but it's good enough for singing along while holding a toothbrush in your hand(works for me anyway) and i have a long list of excuses for why i'm so useless at this, if need be:naughty: . I think the main chords are G C D7sus4 D7, but i try to dress it up to the best of my ability. The left hand riff ( i've never tabbed piano before so i might get the terminology wrong) i think goes a bit like G G F# G G F# G G D F D F# on a lower octave and i just repeat it throughout the intro and verses. First verse G Do i attract you, do I repulse you C G with my queasy smile [and so on] Pre-chorus G C I try to be like Grace Kelly, D7sus4 D7 G but all her looks were too sad [and so on] Chorus G G5 I could be brown, I could be blue, (F#) G* a* b* C I could be vi - o - let sky C D7sus4 I could be hurtful, i could be purple, D7 G i could be anything you like G G5 Gotta be green, gotta be mean, (F#) G* a* b* C gotta be e - very - thin more C D7sus4 Why don't you like me, why don't you like me, D7 G walk out the door !!! Second verse G G5 How can i help it, how can i help it, (F#) G* a* b* C how can i help what you think C D7sus4 Hello my baby, hello my baby , D7 G puttin my life on the brink [and so on] Second pre-chorus G G5 (F#)G*a*b*C I try to be like Grace Kelly [Mmmmmm......], D7sus4 D7 G but all her looks were too sad [Aaaaaa....] G G5 (F#)G*a*b*C So I try a little Freddy [Mmmmmm......], D7sus4 D7 I got identity mad! That's about it...oh, and (F#) means you play the note alone, and G* means that you play only the first two notes of the triad, i think it sounds better that way, and i don't know if there's a name for that chord Thanks for tuning in:)
  11. i didnt mean to kill it, but look, i'll make up for it, i know cpr so, as i think arcenciel was the last one to post who didnt get talked about... ARCENCIEL(sorry for messin your name up the first time:blush-anim-cl:) she's about my age, lives in the most beautiful city in the world, if you ask me, so i guess she must speak fluent French, feat which i will never achieve:roftl: , and she seems really funny(loved the youngling post, had a nice laugh there:thumb_yello: )
  12. sorry,arenciel...been quite distracted lately...anyhow, you're right on the money, just got to admit, manchild is the only song i've heard from eels, cause my pc is an antique pile of junk and i cant download much on it, but i heard that song in a very special context and it's very emotional and powerful for me...sorry for diluting the conversation
  13. oo,oo, i'm interested! i've started trying to work 'em out too, but, as much as i love getting it right once in a while, i'm pretty useless and reasonably sure i'm far off, especially on the piano, which i've just taken off the mothballs, so, if u could post/send/smoke signal those tabs and sheets I WILL WORSHIP YOU! speaking of which, i learned guitar by myself too, its not as frightening as it seems and the rewards are through the roof(especially when you surpass people who have been paying for lessons for ages:naughty: )
  14. oh,wait...it was the purple one that i meant...my memory deceives me when i'm starving...need a huge apple, asap, that'll fix it
  15. how come you didnt include the leopard-print coat thingy among the options? that was awesome, however, i am leaning towards the blue-green sweater too...definately hugable
  16. there's no getting my lazy self to start studyin for my contest tomorrow, so i might as well put you guys in a pickle:naughty: Mika_lover i know u are a skinny chef who hates borat(high five,i cant stand him anymore either) and of course the userid gives away a few things as well
  17. oh, come on winter people, we can still catch up!
  18. it has a video? damn...i think i deserve the stupid helmet now:blush-anim-cl:
  19. every season has it's own kind of magic, but winter will always have a special place in my heart, even if i haven't seen much of it in recent years, but it's snowing today, only the second time this so-called winter, and it makes me smile... i just love all the possibilities of winter, and it reminds me of all the wonderful times i've had as a kid, making snowmen, having snowball fights... snow-capped mountains, starry nights, ice skating(i've just skated for the first time recently, although it's been my childhood fantasy for longer than i can remember), running around like a maniac, trying to catch snow on the tip of my tongue, tossing my cat through heaps of snow, watching those perfect, graceful bits of stars glide down while lying on my back in two feet of snow, wet, numb, but utterly happy....ahhh....
  20. it just struck me that this would make an interesting poll, unlike the funny, yet inherently predictable ones i've seen so far, no offence of course
  21. damn this is tough! i've been staring at the screen for ten mintutes scratching my head, but i might be getting close; my favourite, definately Grace Kelly, but after that, it's kinda neck and neck; lets say Happy Ending, Lollipop, Billy Brown, Love Today, Any other world, and so on, but i can't get either of them out of my head
  22. don't worry:original: , i'm sure he'll be back to his colourful self in no time...there's no way he's letting a pesky flu get him down
  23. this is just surreal...i'm no good at listing my favorite bands or songs or artists, but there's no doubt in my mind that queen are THE number one...there's just no expressing how brilliant they are... i mean to be compared to a genius like freddie is phenomenal, but to have brian may's stamp of approval too...i'm speachless...mika, you the man!
