  1. I can tell you that it's not a big girl. Like I said, I could actually see someone taking issue with the song, but no big girl--heck, almost no girl--would write anything like that article. It's likely a male journalist. --Jack
  2. Thank you so much! You are awesome. :-) I was looking for the everyday objects vid for aaaaaaages. --Jack
  3. Exactly--I think this article is extremely offensive to big girls, personally. I really wish I had that writer's email. --Jack
  4. ...whoa. I can actually understand a number of people having issues with that song, because some of its lyrics do sound... um... ambiguous. But, WTF. Wow, that's just great! Way to go by equating healthy heavier girls with people who are far beyond that point and at a dangerous weight. This is perfectly reasonable--just like any person who says they find smaller-chested girls attractive must REALLY mean they like preadolescent children. Shows what the author of this article thinks of Big Girls too--to them "Big Girl" obviously seems to mean "someone who needs to be winched out of their house." Classy. Yes, because his reluctance to tell the press all about his sex life must necessarily be a shrewd marketing technique--we can see how much it's helping him, right? Everyone just looooooves that he won't talk, right? And I like the implication here: "how dare Mika want people to like him regardless of his sexuality!" Apparently, wanting to be judged on one's music and not who one wants to shag is "irksome." Thanks so much for letting us know. Wonderful--because the only way a fat girl can be beautiful is on the inside, right? There's no way anyone can think that she's beautiful on the outside, after all! And certainly making a song about celebrating that outside, as an alternative to all the ones celebrating slender girls, cannot possibly be a positive undertaking in itself. Not when the author's idea of anyone actually having a thing for big girls is a guy whacking off to videos of a woman being airlifted out of her house. Despite all the high and mighty attitude, it appears that to honestly be attracted to bigger girls is ridiculous and a form of sexual deviancy, and big girls must ONLY be celebrated for their personalities. I usually don't get upset at negative articles, but this one is just offensive! Can you post the email for this reporter so I can share a bit of my mind with him or her? --Jack
  5. For the quote compilation, I mean, not the laugh one. :-)
  6. Brilliant, Violet_sky! Could you possibly post links to all the full clips you used? I though I'd know all of them, but I know only half... --Jack
  7. Ha! A while ago, I joked about Mika hooking up with Patrick Wolf... I am really tickled to see that so many of you had a similar idea! Honestly, I'm not sure how well they'd match in real-life, but hey, they'd look cute together! If we're picking girls, sure, I'll go with Lollipop Girl too--it does seem like there's something between her and Mika already... --Jack
  8. Beautiful article! I love some of those quotes. I really appreciate having a pop star who can be so unpretentiously articulate about his life and work. --Jack
  9. Oh, beautiful, esperia! Where is that photo from, and d'you have any more? --Jack
  10. Okay, guys, I know a lot of you don't like Perez, but geez... they're friends. Friends tend to come see their friends when they're in the area. Friends sometimes invite friends to their interviews, you know? And there are pictures from that day taken after the interview where the two of them are hugging and playing around, etc. As for pictures speaking for themselves... Honestly, I'm not crazy about most of the things Perez says on his site either, but each time I see photos of him and Mika together, they look like they're having a great time. Perez always seems to make Mika smile or laugh, and he really lets him bring out his playful side. So, since we have no idea what Perez is like one-on-one, I don't think we'll need to rescue Mika from him just yet. --Jack
  11. Wait wait wait--is he wearing DAISYLOU's necklace? Daisy? Is that the one you made him? If he is, how wonderful is that? --Jack
  12. Yes, it's not a forum, it's a livejournal community! Something quite different. I am on it. :-) It is very quiet though, in comparison to here. --Jack
  13. Don't apologize; I understand you perfectly! Soft, eh? Maybe kind of like Jack Sparrow doll I also made, then? That was actually a lot harder! --Jack
  14. I actually quite love "Erase" though. And it's the perfect breather segue into the more operatic and also ultimately more melancholy "Happy Ending." I guess in my opinion, Mika's all adorable and zero annoying! --Jack
  15. Yep! He is painted with nail polish and covered in glitter and rhinestones (if you have the movie, you know what scene that's from). The hair is also sculpted with nail polish. The feather boa was hand-dyed, as were the trousers. :-) The Curt Wild doll is wearing "leather" trousers made of garbage bags and electrical tape, ha, and we cut his hair and styled it, and then cemented it with clear nail polish as well. His face was highlighted and contoured with markers (we also gave him Ewan McGregor's mole), and permanent markers were used for his nails and his shoes. Nail polish is best because it's relatively cheap and it doesn't wash off! Queenie: my sister did most of the work on Brian Slade, so credit should go to her! :-) --Jack
  16. Great quotes. I love the fact that he is unashamed to be a pop artist, and isn't trying to be all pretentious with his music. I'm into alternative and indie rock, but I love pop provided it's good pop (my favorite is 60s and 70s pop, exactly)--and I'm really glad people like Mika are bringing it back. --Jack
  17. Ooooh, yes! Seriously, it should be so easy! Just get a Ken or a Blake doll with longish hair, curl it, and get or sew appropriate clothes! (Ken dolls often come with gold and silver sneakers anyway, or you can paint them, and for tight trousers, you can probably modify Barbie's clothes.) We should have a competition! --Jack
  18. ...You know that the scary thing is, I think I could quite easily make one? My friends and I have made custom Barbie rockstar dolls before. For instance, Velvet Goldmine inspired dolls and others: If I tried to make up a test copy, would anyone actually want one? I might do one for fun and if it came out well, I could totally make them for people... --Jack
  19. If he's on a plane? Cognac and a blanket. Cognac being the important part. --Jack
  20. Awww, he's adorable! I love that he likes/knows anime and manga. He's such a regular boy, it's cute as heck. --Jack
  21. It's not your fault, EnFa! It's that stupid website (contactmusic.com). I checked out their Mika stories, and they are the ones who've posted a bunch of false, badly resesearched, or nonsense articles about him before. Basically, while some of their stories on him ARE right, it seems you can't trust anything they say about him without a back-up. --Jack
  22. I told you! hahah. Wish he'd read to the end of the thread before posting, though! --Jack
  23. Agreed, it doesn't sound like something Mika would say at all. He never complains that people dislike him or solicits favor like that! I think this is either severely misquoted, or entirely made up. --Jack
  24. Narcolepsy is when you can't help falling asleep at random times, but Mika doesn't have that, obviously. I just made up that "article" to illustrate my point. :-) --Jack
  25. Avoca, merci beaucoup, beaucoup, beaucoup, et mille fois plus, merci! They are wonderful photos and thank you so much for uploading them. That said. Man. I cannot believe that I am actually worried and ANGRY on behalf of a popstar I don't even know, but I am. He looks so tired lately. Beautiful, but exhausted. And you can tell so in his concerts-- he has less spark, he strains his voice, etc. He was lovely in Japan, but he also looked a bit lost and out of place and as though it wasn't quite his sort of circus (with the lollipop girls who were sweet lolita knock-offs and were apparently provided by the studio and not his friends). HE NEEDS TO TAKE A BREAK. And yet he's going to be touring all summer, and then he's doing another UK/European tour come fall? He's even touring on his own birthday, for Chrissakes! What the hell is he and/or his management thinking? I am almost annoyed at him! Seriously! I know that he tours with his family and they look out for his health, and thank god for that, but he should cut this out before he gets himself sick. I am worried he'll burn out. I swear, if I get to meet him after his US show, I will demand that he take a holiday. --Jack
