1. Same here. I just would have assumed he was another random male model, or at most a soap opera star or something. I certainly wouldn't expect to find a stupidly talented popstar behind that ad. But who knows, maybe people who recognize his name but had forgotten about him since Grace Kelly may see this ad and go "wait, that's Mika? That dorky kid with the fluffy hair and the weird red outfit in that song about being like Grace Kelly? He got HOT!" I think it all comes down to learning to speak Mika-ese. For example, over the past four years I have learned that in Mika-ese, "acoustic gig" means "with loads of drums and amplification, just without backing tracks." And apparently "hiding away working on my third album" means "working on my third album... in between parties, premieres, and making some side cash with corporate gigs and big name ad campaigns."
2. All four Japanese gigs I went to had lockers at the venue. Lockers! It was terribly civilized. I'm totally with you on the freezing thing. Copenhagen was a traumatic experience for me.
3. This has been my favourite since 2007.
4. I noticed you posted this in the Mika poses thread... out of curiousity, what gig is it from? :teehee:

5. I find the worst is when Mika (or any artist, really) stays in one spot and the people in line to meet him are expected to file past. That's SO awkward. At least when he's moving down a line he is in control of how long he talks to any given fan. When the fans are moving past the artist it creates an uncomfortable dance in terms of just how much of his time to take.
6. :roftl: Poor upside down Mika! All the blood will rush to his head!

I was away all of last week (holiday in California! :surfing:) but we're almost done. Stay tuned for the big announcement! :biggrin2:

7. "If you're feeling sad that there are no more amazing, intimate, exclusive videos from a once-in-a-lifetime gig, never fear! As consolation, soon you'll be able to drop your hard earned cash on a bizarre, shapeless eyeball t-shirt!"
8. Same here. I think meeting friends online is easier than meeting potential partners, simply because you don't have to worry about friends just being out for a shag. Well, most of the time.
9. I know three couples who met online that are very happy. Two are happily married and one couple is living together. I also had a friend who met a girl on the internet and moved across the country to be with her after six weeks. It ended in disaster when she threw his computer off the balcony and the cops were called. I have to agree with the coffee shop girl that I wouldn't give out my Facebook info to some random guy I met on the street (assuming I wasn't already married). If I thought he was attractive/interesting/etc I'd give him my email address or my phone number and tell him to text me. It's not that there's anything terribly incriminating on my Facebook page, but I wouldn't want some random guy seeing everything from a few scanned childhood pics to pics of my parents' dogs or whatever. That's TMI too fast.
10. Thank you! I'm going from a kind and fine Google translation, but what's he saying with "...non sapevo che esistesse un'etichetta degli appuntamenti via Internet. None e come fare sesso occasionale."...? Google translates that to mean that basically there's an understanding with online relationships that they are about casual sex, and that he's not into that sort of thing. Is that what that actually means? I so can't wait for the original.
11. Thanks for posting Robi! Ooh I can't wait for the original. In the mean time, I can haz translated summary? Oh that's too bad. How about here? It's a different photo hosting site so maybe that might help?
12. Biggest ripoff EVAR. Trust Sandbag to start selling tickets from the far ass-end of the row rather than the middle. Oh well, it turned out okay in the end. And I got to hang out with you lovely Dutchies which was an added bonus. Dammit, now I want to go back to Amsterdam.
13. After watching the vids from this gig, it wasn't the NYC Le Poisson Rouge show it reminded me of but that footage from Latitude Festival - y'know, where he was just rocking out with a bunch of people in the woods. If you haven't seen this video before, Mika's at the left of the frame standing behind the piano. Awesome, thanks for sharing!
14. See, Mika? If you stop giving us something new to chew on, this is the madness your fan club descends into!
15. I reject that hypothesis. Clearly Mika is telling us he's a pirate! Oh lovely! So nice to see it from another point of view.
16. What's this? Mika's turning into Adam Lambert? Yeah, you're probably right. Thank you so much for such a detailed report! I'm really hoping Mikasounds posts all the footage and not just some snippets. The YouTube vids people have posted are amazing of course, but to see a pro recording would be such a treat. I agree with what you were saying about loving Mika's voice when it's more restrained like it was at this gig. It's fine for him to go all out when he's on a stage in front of thousands, but the way he sang at this gig was just so fitting. It's also funny you should mention that it was really acoustic. After the acoustic tour I started thinking that Mika's definition of "acoustic" simply meant "without backing tracks". I love the way some of the songs came together in what felt like a spontaneous random act of music. I can't believe Only Lonely One is just Mika singing and beating on the piano, David playing the same few chords over and over, and Cherisse playing that little drum thing. It's beyond my comprehension how something so simple can sound so good, but I just love it. The videos where he's standing behind the piano (Only Lonely One and Lollipop) remind me of those videos from Latitude where he was just standing behind a random piano in the woods, rocking out with a bunch of people.
