Bodies Without Organs: Ridiculously Delicious

Since we've been talking about music videos, and the early Mika interview where he recommends BWO was brought up again, I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to the group.

They definitely bring deliciously hilarious pop to a new level! They never fail to make me grin. To truly appreciate them you must watch their music videos.

There are several groups of these:

1) The actually quite well-made music videos--which, mind you, are still both ridiculous and hilarious.

2) The absolutely WTF?????? videos.

This one rules them all. It is... mind blowing.

You can see where Mika got some of his animal-costume inspiration...

3) And then, the in-between videos.

I love this song. How can you not laugh at those lyrics?

Each time the lead singer gets hit by that car, I am in stitches. I am not even gonna talk about him riding on the car roof half-naked...

I swear, I want to make love to these music videos. It doesn't hurt that the lead singer is quite easy on the eyes, but he's by far not the main attraction. And there's more! This group is a treasure-trove.

Oh, didn't even know "The Sixteen Tons Of Hardware" was BwO's song...

I've been listening to them a lot more than I first thought.

"Chariots Of Fire" and "Temple Of Love" does it for me! :punk:

The first one above, the video, I think it's quite great! The dog singing (The cuter one in Martin's hands) is fabulous.

What about the man with the moustache? :sneaky2:

I quite like these, how successful are they?

Oh, he's quite quite awesome. His name is Alexander Bard and when he's not managing synth pop groups (he's the person who got the group together, and he's been in many other bands), he dabbles at lecturing at universities and being a published philosopher.

If you like him, I must show you this video, from his 80s band Army of Lovers:

This is pretty much the best (gayest) music video I've ever seen, ever. It is my life ambition to sometime create something like this. My secret pain is that I don't think I could ever come up with anything that would measure up to this video in gayness and pure camp absurdity.

BWO are pretty well known in some countries...

I remember that recommendation and I "Googled" and "YouTubed" straight away. I'm loving "Sunshine in the Rain"!

:thumb_yello:

I agree with you 'bout the lead being quite attractive - although, there is something 'bout him that reminds me of Ashton Kutcher! :roftl:

Thank you so much Jack for posting this!

Although I live in Sweden I have not payed much attention to this gruop before.

In my opinion the lead-singer reminds me of Mika, a blond, tall and beautiful boy who takes of his shirt and dances around. Cute, and of course a good singer to.

I really hope that you will be able to make the vidoe of your dreams one day, hold on to your dream and whatever you do, don't give it up.

I had never heard of the band until now (thanks, Mika, for that). The songs are very catchy and the videos are pretty strange... I mean completely different to anything I've seen before. But I really like these guys. How long have they been around? Does anybody know?

Oh, and something curious happened while I was watching the 'Save my pride' video: I noticed that the singer (the blonde one) kind of swings the microphone in the same way Mika does almost at the end of 'Grace Kelly' (except Mika uses a light tube). Maybe it was my impression, but the movements seemed very similar to me. Anyway, Mika looks sexier doing it than the other one does (I don't know his name).:biggrin2:

lol, never heard of that band before mika talked about them, but i just realized i have an autograph of one of them. :naughty: i met alexander bard back in the days when he was in "army of lovers", i used to love that song "crucified"! :bleh: wow, he really looks a LOT different now, wouldn't have recognized him, but i remember the name.

BWO's lead singer is really cute, i agree to that! :biggrin2: and it's amazing how 80s their music sounds, i like that, ahh, the good old times! :bleh:

What??? Mika recommended them??? OMG I didn't know about that. Last week I've been on their concert and I have to tell that it was fantastic!!! I use to hate them but now I love them he he ;) Martin is really cute (and he's got Polish surname :D)

In some songs I can hear "Army of lovers" influence... I miss them, really! ;)

Ah BWO..... The TEMPLE OF KITSCH!

Totally unknown in France, I got to know this group from here a while ago. I got curious and googled and youtubed.... and I absolutely LOVE Chariots of Fire for this so-ridiculous video and this very very catchy ultra-commercial look-from-the-80s fun song... OMG, all these ouhouhou and those ahahahah... It's... there are no words to describe it... I ADORE it to the 5th degree !

Unbelievable group :roftl: !!!

I forwarded it to a few French friends so they'd discover that something THAT kitsch could exist and a friend of mine fell in love with Conqueer America :naughty: ...

The rest, to be frank, had the attitude I totally expected: HTF can this exist AND BE SUCCESSFUL? It's just too much!

I loved Army of Lovers' Crucified song in the 80s and I actually still do! I swore to myself the next party I throw in, I want Crucify and Chariots of Fire in it (and plenty of drinking to put people in that mood :roftl::roftl: ).

Oh, and I always thought: this lady in Army of Lovers... What LIPS!

OK I'm putting back Chariots of Fire on, it puts me in too good a mood :biggrin2::biggrin2: !
