is now like real life :tears:

After reading threads were people apoligise for saying they dont like Mika's new backing singer, and someone apoligising for having a cult club, its like real life.

What happened to the care-free days?

-feels like a hippy-

the MFC feels like school

where you have your friends and you dont really talk to other people

and with the inside jokes

some people dont feel comfortable here anymore!

im not one of those people, lol, i am not going to be driven out of the MFC, no matter how many people chase me with fire torches and call me a witch :mf_rosetinted:

This post is in no-way trying to start a rebellion

I have been here a while now - and I think its sad if some folk

feel they cant talk, or are being got at intentionally.

In a forum with the member numbers we have I guess the odd

disagreement is inevitable - but if we all watch what we post, and

think of others feelings, then we can get our point across without

being nasty.

We are all here because we like/love/admire Mika, and his music, and

he suffered from bullying and unkindness through his younger years - we

dont want to do that to others!!!

Mika is love (and tolerance helps too!!) :thumb_yello:

like how many people are apoligising for stuff xD

Mika is the key.

lets just talk about him from now on :thumb_yello:

Yes I have noticed - and I think its kinda sad - people have different ideas of what will offend - and there is no real way round that.

I have popped into he younger threads occasionally, and have been made

welcome and been answered, but I do tend to stay in a few threads,

mainly because I have limited time, and too much thread hopping is

a bit confusing at times!!

I feel welcome on the forum - and I hope we can get back to everyone

feeling that way!! :thumb_yello:

*blows out torch and puts pitch fork back in shed* :(

i know what you mean though, the mfc isnt as busy as it used to be as the larger population of it are school age kids who don't have as much free time now that schools have started again.

And it all does seem a bit one sided but hey - people change.

So its important that we recognise that some people are bound to move on now that the mika plague has died down.

It doesnt mean that we dont appreciate the new members or the forum itself any less than we did before.

but stop being so serious!

Arrrrrrrrrgh! This is so weird, i swear to you that ive just finished watching Mean Girls (for like the 90th time.. :naughty:) but, its like that. Ok, there are no 'plastics' or whatever, but i do think that there are certain 'groups' on here.

I dont feel like i can approach just anyone on here now like i used to. I feel like i cant. And i feel like people cant be bothered to get to know other people now - theyre just happy talking with the people they always talk to.

I hope everyone feels free to drop in to the Oldlings anytime, or can talk to me if they want to - I have never knowingly ignored anyone - and I am here because of Mika - and anyone who likes him is ok by me!!! :biggrin2:

I partly agree with you- in fact I posted a similar comment under a different thread a few minutes ago...

I still feel very welcome here, and love it, but I do get the impression that "different" or slightly negative opinions are not being very well tolerated lately.

Of course I think that slagging people off or calling names, etc..., is totally unacceptable.

However, negative opinions can be posted with respect and without insulting anyone, and this should be allowed and respected as well. My feeling is that this is not always happening, and every time that someone tries to express their dissatisfaction with someone/something, they are jumped on and tried to make "feel guilty" or told off.

I totally agree!! As long as there is respect then there should not be a problem. Deal with the issue, not the person!!

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by this... people DO apologize for

things in real life, don't they? If they feel they've made a mistake about

something? How is that a bad thing? :boxed:

AFAIK, no one's been REQUIRED to apologize for anything... that's something they've done on their own.

but if we all watch what we post, and

think of others feelings, then we can get our point across without

being nasty.

That's the key, isn't it, Wendi? To think of others' feelings, and try not

to be nasty.

I personally wasn't involved in the closing of the "cult" thread

or even the back-up singer thread (just after the fact), but I think

in both cases we had situations where SOME members feelings and

sensibilities were hurt and offended. Obviously, we can't prevent

from hurting or offending EVERY one EVERY time, but if we get a

substantial number of complaints about a subject, we can't just ignore

it, can we? That's part of the whole "watching out for people's feelings"

thing, IMO. It seems to me that some people can't believe that something

they say could have a negative effect on someone else... they can't

conceive that not everyone shares their sense of humor or might get

hurt feelings more easily than they do.

Aside from the controversial back-up singer thread, can you tell me

specifically where you've seen this happening, Sariflor? I'd really like

to know, sincerely! Not being patronizing. I don't think *I've* told

anyone off, except some of the spammers that we've had... :wink2:

OTOH, I know that I have been told off and mocked by some MFC'ers!

:naughty:

We had thread after thread just a few months ago filled

with complaints and negative remarks about Mika and his management

relating to all the tour cancellations -- none of those threads were

deleted. All members expressed their views, whether they were pro

or anti... at least it seemed that way to me. I don't think anyone

was "run out of town on a rail" for expressing a negative viewpoint.

Even the back-up singer thread was not objectionable, as I understand

it, until the attacks turned a little too personal.

So I'd really like to know where your feeling that people are being

made to feel guilty or are being told off comes from. Really!

The only way we can learn is if we listen to each other. :)

Well...I did get "turned off" quite a bit with some of the comments and appologies about the backing singer. The whole "Mika chose her, so we have to love her" thing just got me to back off from MFC a bit, I don't really feel like getting into conversations that go much further than "have a nice evening" or "So, did you meet Mika?" at the moment :boxed:

awww :wub2: I miss the good ol' days and the late night chats :tears:

I wondered where did ya end up... :boxed: and you know that I mean it. i thought I had chocked ya with my mika-honey.. ever since bologna I am sickening sweet about him :wub2: but I cannot help it.. :blush-anim-cl:

I have not followed the whole backsinger thing, before gig I was not much online and then I dived head over heels into the gigs section (france before, italy after). but I think I kinda understood there was some complaint about his backsinger. as far as about me, from what I could see she's a good singer and just plays along on stage with the others. she seemed a smiley girl and cute. her voice is rather powerful and.. *gets ready to be shoot* though I liked missionary man, it's not my fave mika cover yet. so I didn't care that much about the fact her voice actually covers mika's. don't know the original surprisingly, as I love eurythmics.. could it be she sings so loud cause she's singing annie's part..? I have no idea, seriously.. :boxed:

Aww, if people feel that they can't start a conversation with me, my feelings would be hurt.

I love talking to my first friends from the MFC, but I also absolutely love meeting new members. I enjoy getting to know other people as well.

I'm a bit lost with the backing singer, but I've been somewhat lost since my computer broke a month ago and I've recently returned. I'll get caught up again.

And apologizing..I do that a lot. haha I don't know why, but someone will bump into ME and I'LL say sorry. I'm strange like that..

You have a point!

I agree with what you say.

Off course it's a good thing when people appologies and say they are sorry, but I have had a little feeling it has gone overboard some times....:mf_rosetinted:

I know I'm jumping in to deep water by saying this, but can it be a culture thing?

In both our countries we are very used to people speaking their mind, loud and clear.:biggrin2:

PLease don't shoot me for this, it's just a little thought..

And a question.:thumb_yello:

Well that sentence will get you lots of conversation at the moment, because sooo many people met Mika recently :naughty:

let's be honest, visit 99% of all forums on the net and you will read things on a daily basis that will shock and disgust you...

if the worst thing at MFC is that people are perhaps a little too polite... it is not really worth worrying about.

I know what you are trying to say, we hope that people can say what they feel, but try saying what you feel all the time in real life... i bet you can't!
