Mika: the album sure to please

By Caitlin O’Halloran

Mika, the singer known for songs like “Love Today,” “Happy Ending,” and “Lollipop” is releasing an album that is sure to be a big hit with old fans and win over new listeners.

The Boy Who Knew Too Much is set to arrive September 22. For those who loved his debut album, Life in Cartoon Motion, the new stuff is sure to satisfy.

Just like the previous, Mika’s songs are simultaneously fun and quirky. His combination of pop and electronica will please even the pickiest.

Strong vocals are well supported by everything from traditional instruments, electronic beats, to a background chorus.

Aside from the logistics of it all, the best part has to be how enjoyable the album is, meaning you can listen to the entire thing without skipping around or feeling overly-saturated by the same thing.

Individuality is key for Mika and important for the listener, but don’t get it twisted, Mika maintains a cohesive theme.

While singles like “We Are Golden” are a sure hit, other tracks, like “Blame It On The Girls,” have a great synth beat and a catchy chorus that incorporates a salsa-sounding melody that makes it a stellar choice for a dance party.

With his mix of high falsettos, melodic vocals, and quirky lyrics, this guy has the kind of musicality that can take a pop song out of the guilty pleasure category and make it your own personal anthem. Listen to ‘em loud and proud.

Mika will perform in Boston at the Orpheum on October 15.

Oh at last!!! A reviewer who know good music and hasn't got their own head up their own backside!!!!!!! Some of the more recent reviews have really got on my nerves, comparing Mika to this one, that one, and saying he has no originallity!

:roftl::roftl: You tell em Marilyn. What a poetic way to put it.

And in case you think I'm laughing at you, I'm not. I completely agree.

I am so thrilled that Mika keeps getting amazing glowing reviews.

I really like this one as it is out of Boston, U.S.A.

I just read that We Are Golden was played on a radio station in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.

I really want to see Mika break the American market this time around.

GO MIKA!!

That's how I feel. I was so excited to see that this was out of Boston. Hopefully the American listening public will pay attention?

That is so great! I'm so longing for our beautiful boy to break into America! So he's being played, and has those TV appearances coming up! Hopefully things are looking really possitive!!!! *prays*
