mamiam
Thank you all so much - lovely reports and pics from the Barcelona gig - what a night you all had!! I'm impressed by what Meeks managed to do, in spite of being sick - and Alba, you're about to getting really spoiled now, being onstage with MIKA, again! But he obviously likes to have you by his side, and can relax and joke, what a compliment!! Anyway, I'm really happy for you! So "live your life" - and enjoy your Spanish summer! Espanyols, anglesos, catalans… [ovació] i libanesos. Game-based learning, li diuen: passar-ho bé i aprendre alhora.
Kumazzz
RAK1
Okay, it's been a while since I've done a gig report. So I'll try not to ramble on Woke up on the Saturday, at the hostel I was staying at, and got ready to go to the hotel I was staying at with Meeks and Rosa.It turned out it wasn't that far from me, and the venue was about the same distance. Meeks was waiting at the room for me, and we waited for Rosa and the other 2 lovely Spanish ladies (whose names escape me, apologies, brain isn't great at remembering things recently), and when they arrived, we walked over to the venue. It was a lovely place, like a small walled town, with a market square (where the gig was held) and we had a walk around, thanks to those who helped us with that, grabbed some very tasty food and went back out to the queue. Later I joined those getting their faces painted in the animal theme. I don't think I need to say what I had on my face Thanks to Valeria for that, she did a fantastic job with mine, and Saskia who did some of the other people waiting. The queue was fairly good, but I would like to say that if you start the organisation of queues at gigs, can you please see it through to the end, and make sure EVERYONE is in the order of the number they are given just before the gates open. Otherwise just don't bother starting it. It seems that recent queues I have been in lately, once those starting this have their place sorted, they just don't bother with the rest of the queue when it's almost time to go in. And people who came later after the numbers were given out, just jumped in, and ignored anyone who were there before they were. When we started this system back in 07, it worked pretty well, and everyone with the numbers went into the venue in order. Lately it seems no one cares once they are up the front in their place. That's just not how it's done, and seems a bit selfish. Anyway, once in and in place over by the speakers, myself Saskia and Marion made ourselves comfortable, and sat out the first band, as it was too hot to dance at that time, but we did get up when Brika, and her guitarist came on. Not dancing , but watching and listening. In between the acts, up in the main building to our right, the MC/magician entertained everyone from the top window. He was a bit crazy. And more about him shortly. Next was Caloncho, from Mexico, with a bonkers trombonist and crazy guitarist, but such great fun to watch, they had the crowd bouncing. Then Molotov Jukebox, who are fronted by a lady who is in Game of Thrones. They had a great vibe too, and also had the crowd jumping. Then the MC came onto the stage to do some more magic, with his bear, Boris, who you'll already know did some Dirty Dancing with Mika during Big Girls Then it was Mikas turn, and he didn't disappoint. Got a bit of eye contact almost at the end, which was funny, as I think he noticed the face paint He did his best on the Spanish for Talk About You, and made Meeks a star for the night during Elle Me Dit After it had finished, we just got to where he came out, just as his car was pulling away, and we just had time to do a quick wave like we did in Strasbourg a couple of weeks ago, which seemed to amuse him as he drove away ( he had his window open) Then it was time to go. A very excited Meeks and myself walked back to the hotel, where I was hoping to get a cup of tea, but at 2.30am the hotel didn't serve them, so had to go to bed without one. It was a great night, and a great stay in Barcelona, and I want to say thanks to all those who made it fun. Meeks, Rosa, Marion, Saskia, Grazia, Nina, Valeria, the other two Spanish ladies I mentioned, Valmont69, and everyone else I met that day. I love the Spanish gigs, and hope to go to another one soon
