Tell me your favorite lyrics

Recommended Posts

nice to meet you.

I am a fan of Japan.

Posting a topic for the first time.

I'm sorry if I'm rude.

It's been about two years since I became a fan of MIKA, and I'm very sorry that my history is still short.

I am very happy that MIKA will come to Japan in 2023.

Well, I am studying English and I would like to study abroad in England someday.

Therefore, I would be happy if I could get along with everyone while also studying English, so I launched a topic.

If you have any favorite phrases from MIKA's songs, please let us know!

thank you.

Hi :bye:

Welcome to the MFC.

I don't think we've had a thread about favourite lyrics before, so it will be interesting to see the replies.  But I'm going to move this topic to the Chat About Mika section, as I think it fits better there.

I think one of my favourite lyrics is from I SeeYou:

For fear of what you might do
I say nothing but stare at you

I JUST posted a Story today from my drawing progress with exactly these lyrics!!!

So yes, I agree. I love those lyrics as well!

Also amongst my favourites, from Lonely Alcoholic:

If we're altogether screaming why can't we make a sound?
Oh, 'cause the dirt on which we're stepping is the one in which we will be found

My favorite lyrics are also from I See You, but they're these ones:

Truth be told
My problems solved
You mean the world to me but you'll never know
You could be cruel to me
Why go risking the way that I see you

Hopefully I got the last line there right, as I've read different variations. I'm going by what's in my sheet music book :)

The more I think about I See You, the more I think it might be my favorite MIKA song. There's something so beautiful and sad about it. It gives me chills. I feel similarly about By The Time.

Great idea for a thread, @kwmr. I've been wanting to start one but I haven't thought of anything yet!

The last line is right, but the second's not. It's actually, "Truth be told, my problem's old..."

Sometimes even the "official" or published lyrics are wrong, not to mention the weird distortions you find on lyrics sites. (And if I see "stumble out my eyes" posted one more time by Mika's Facebook page, I think I'll scream! I mean, have they even ever listened to "Happy Ending"? :lol3: )

Anyway... ;)

Favorite lyrics... so hard to choose. Some songs are full of great lyrics, one line after another. But three immediately spring to mind:

"How could you break my heart

Already played my part

I kept my promise, man

Show me the Promiseland"

AND

"It's a still there Monday morning kind of love"

AND

"I don't need to be the richest
I know enough is enough"

The first because I've felt that way -- that I've done everything for somebody that I possibly could, and feel like they haven't appreciated it, and I'd like to be acknowledged.

The second because it's so descriptive to me, like, "I'm crazy about you and we had a wild weekend, and now that it's Monday morning I still feel the same way about you."

And the third because I know the wisdom in it. Enough IS enough.

Thank you for the correction :) I never knew that one was wrong, but now that I know what it says, I like it even more because it sounds more interesting and Mika-like.

It's quite hard picking out favourite Mika lyrics as there are so many! And some of my favourite lyrics might not necessarily be from one of my favourite songs (but saying that I also find it hard to choose a favourite song too! 😅

These are just a few of my favourites:

From We Are Golden:

"We are not what you think we are
We are golden, we are golden

Who gives a damn about the family you come from
No giving up when you’re young and you want some"

They're such inspiring lyrics, words I truly live by!

From Staring at the Sun:

"Here I stand, staring at the sun
Distant land, staring at the sun
You're not there, but we share the same one
Miles apart, staring at the sun
Distant hearts, staring at the sun
One thing's true, just like you, there's only one"

The words to this song got me through some lonely days in the past.

From Dear Jealousy:

"Jealousy
Bring the music back to me
I can't even write a song
If you're standing over me"

As someone who wants to be a writer, I feel these lyrics so much! 😅

From Live Your Life:

"You've got the whole world in your pocket
But you just don't know"

There's just something so simple and honest about these lyrics, the whole world really is out there for you but sometimes you just don't know where to start looking.

From Tiny Love:

"We may be tiny to the world but in our hearts
We be giants with our tiny tiny love"

I felt such a connection with Tiny Love when I first heard it, it's such a special song and these lyrics are true and beautiful.

And finally lyrics that just always make me laugh! 😁

From Rio:

"Give me a peanut and I’ll turn blue
I can't even eat the things you do"

my favourite lyrics is  stay high

Wherever we go, I wanna stay high, not low
Wherever we go, we're gonna get higher than the sun, my baby
Wherever we go (Wherever we go), I wanna stay high, not low
Wherever we go (Wherever we go), we gonna stay high

and also tiny love

We be giants with our tiny tiny love"

Could be because I have blue eyes, but I've always loved the song Blue Eyes and felt connected to it, these lyrics especially:

"Come, sorrow is so peculiar

Comes in a day, then it'll never leave ya

You take a pill, wonder if it will fix you

Then wonder why sorrow has never left you"

And:

"Blue eyes, blue eyes

What's the matter with you?"

For me its this: “breath out, breath in, throw me LIVING off the deep end while I’m sleeping’…………….

And, “is it really necessary, every single day, you’re making me more ordinary, in every possible way”…….. when somebody or many are trying to break your spirit.

Oh I love this thread, I can't believe it hasn't existed before.

I have so many favorite lyrics!!

For me it's basically all of the origin of love but particularly:

"Like stupid Adam and Eve they found their love in a tree,
god didn't think they deserved it

He taught them hate, taught them pride, gave them a leaf made them hide,
let's push their stories aside, you know the origin is you"

also

"Ours is a family that's based upon tradition

But with my carless words I tread upon your vision"

"Lived my life as the good boy I was told I should be
Prayed every night to a religion that was chosen for me"

"I live for glitter, not you!"

"But your Mamma thought there was something wrong,

didn't want you sleeping with a boy too long." (So so sad!)

"Everyone says now or never, I say only if it's better" (this one is vastly underrated, it's brilliant advice)

I agree with Charlotte, the entirety of the Middle 8 of Origin of Love has a special place in my heart!

I love "There's a place for you whoever you are" from Sanremo as well. I do feel like that one needs to be appreciated more!

Also, I just really like "He's got looks that books take pages to tell". I don't know why but that line is just very satisfying to me.
