I need to admit that the first two are actually quite hot. I prefer this "normal" clothing from his... whatever he might call it-way of clothing (guess you know what I mean).

I totally agree with you. Dressed in a "normal" way he is very very hot. :das: For the other clothing thing...well not always at least...

hey there! you are fast!!!

Of course I am! :naughty:

He does have a certain... a dramatic aura. "Something" so to speak. But anyway - not Mika :wub2:

I actually think that PW's pics are better than Mikas. PW are more.. different, they stand out more compared to Mikas.

BUT! Mika is better looking :das: But that isn't very important in the real world.

it's not all about the look, both the Mikster and Wolfy have special personality :thumb_yello:

I totally agree. Their art is different, their visions are different. They both are original and unique with their own worlds.

Patrick Wolf @ The Lowry

2007%2014:30:23:718

Stages were designed for Patrick Wolf

Gary Ryan

25/11/07

PATRICK Wolf's behavior has been increasingly erratic this year, culminating in the 24-year-old attacking his drummer onstage with a cymbal stand, before announcing his retirement from live performances.

You've heard about the boy who cried wolf, well this was the Wolf who cried whatever the voices in his head were seemingly shouting at any given time.

If his most recent album, The Magic Position was the joyous, hedonistic night out - fuelled by love, substances and infinite, tantalising possibilities - then this tour is the morning after, when you have to look at yourself in the mirror.

There's something of the tragic 1930s female film star about him tonight; a doomed beauty, a longing for escape in the voice, concealing his pain behind a knowing quip or glug of vodka; charisma as camouflage; singing - to misuse a Julie Burchill phrase - like an angel on angeldust (And yes, that may be the point some of you snort, `Oh just write him a Valentines Card, for heaven's sake!').

"It's a depressing winter," he says at one point. "I wish I had more happy songs."

Captivating

Wolf plays solo and is a captivating presence: flashes of Ziggy-era Bowie, Kate Bush and Morrissey sparkle throughout his performance, but rather than being a collage of past pan-sexual pop icons, he's clearly his own man.

Dressed in a sparkly pixie's outfit, his crimson hair moulded into a quiff, he resembles a sex offender from Narnia. Divested of fireworks and razzmatazz, opener Bluebells emerges as a haunting tale of fighting demons (`going nowhere fast / A darker day has hold at last') while a standout new track, The Days, luxuriates in heartbreak.

His childlike-wonder amplifies the Disney-like Pigeon Song, as Tristan broods with dark menace. At the point, he asks for requests, prompting shouts for the creepy paedo-pop of The Childcatcher.

For the encore (and after a costume change), he's joined by support act Lightspeed Champion, aka ex-Test Icicle Dev Hynes, for a stomping, giddily enthusiastic run-through of The Magic Position and Accident & Emergency, as fans send party-poppers shimmering over him.

In a world where the phrase idiosyncratic star is devalued by applying it to nostalgia cut-and-paste jobs such as Mika*, Patrick Wolf is a rare commodity: stages were designed for him, for the benefit of music and the sanity of his friends and family.

*ok, it's clear that Mika is not Gary's fav singer:thumbdown:

Wow. What an article. Thank you so much for posting!!! Gracias, Greta! :wub2:

That Gary Ryan deserves a night @ the MFC to get a punishment for that sentence. What a twat. :mf_rosetinted: That guy doesn't KNOW.

Yes, he is indeed a t**t. I read that review yesterday and was enjoying it until I got to the cut-and-paste bulls**t and then saw THAT name at the bottom.

PAH !

Good PW review though!:bleh:
