I looked around the room, at the people I was supposed to know. I struggled to remember. I looked back down at the folder in front of me. I opened it slowly, and saw immediately that I had the power of telekenesis. I looked around to see what I could try and move, then I saw a vase in the middle of the table. I looked at the others; they were busy reading whatever it was in their folders. When I was satisfied that no-one was looking, I focused on the vase, which started levitating. I grinned as someone gasped.

"Nico, stop showing off!" Someone muttered.

The vase dropped and smashed as I took my eyes off it. I looked around the room to see who had spoken to me, but no-one spoke.

I shrugged as I replied, "Well, what's the point of having powers if i can't use them?"

"Not all powers are good you know," Soa replied. I looked at her.

"Fine, whatever." I muttered. "Look, if we're all supposed to know each other, why don't we start by taking off these masks and introducing ourselves?"

Everyone looked around uneasily. I took my mask off and sat it on the table.

"I'm Nico."

Wow, this has been a while...

As we went around the room and introduced ourselves, I noticed some were missing, their names also not included in the booklet. Of course, not everyone had survived whatever it was that I had made sure they would never remember, but I couldn't remember who was no longer with us (to cover for those who don't want to rejoin :wink2:).

"I'm Soa," I murmured, removing my mask. "and as you may have read, I manipulate memory"

"Can you get our memories back?" asked Nico.

"No, but they will come back. Its a temporary block designed to dissolve" I glanced around, realising I may have revealed too much "Or thats what I gather from them saying it'll come back."

"How are we supposed to get to know each other when I'm not even sure what I know about myself is real. I mean beside from what I read in here?" one of the girls said, waving her folder about.

"why would they make up these other lives for us, if they were just going to bring us back to whatever we were before?" added Nico

"Maybe they didn't plan to bring us back to this kind of life. Maybe they wanted to let us slip off the radar, asleep, until they could bring us back?" I asked. That had after all been part of what Nobu had told me.

"But why would they need to do that?" asked Mzee.

"They said all this will come back to us, and our host will present himself later for questions, so I guess we can focus on that later," I suggested, trying to move the topic. "Lets just get back to focussing on the information in these folders and who we are."

One of the boys shook his head.

"Screw this. How the hell do we even know what that guys is telling us is true? How do we know what you're telling us is true?"

The rest of the group looked around and shrugged.

"I guess we just have to trust what we've been told." Mzee replied.

"But why? Surely I can leave and do what I want. Nothing's stopping us from leaving." He stood and walked over to teh door and turned the door knob.

He frowned and tried to turn the knob again. "We're locked in."

Artsy stood up and shoved him out of the way. She tried, and again, discovered the door was locked.

She then backed up and tried to shoulder barge the door. The door did not budge. She glared at the door.

"Arts, take a seat. You too Mika." I stated.

When they sat, I continued. "Right, so now we know who everyone is. What else should we talk about?"

Soa opened the packet of information and read. "Well, it looks like transport is a lot more advanced. Our plane is no longer able to fly."

"So how will we travel anywhere?" Mika asked.

"We'll just have to get a new plane. We can still fly, but they've outlawed use of fossil fuels."

Everyone turned to Artsy. "They've got a new form of fuel, it's called silvium. It does the same thing as gasoline, but is a lot cleaner and less harmful to the environment."

"Oh," Mika replied quietly.

"I also read that there's one country who holds all the power over the other countries. It says here that the USA, England, Italy and Spain have joined forces to create a new country that they only refer to as The Nation. Seems they're fighting against the Confederation... and that consists of Canada, Australia, France and Japan. Seems the others haven't joined The Nation or the Confederation yet."

"I guess we'll find out more about them when our host joins us." Mika replied as we heard a sounds outside the door.

“Becky, there’s been an emergency! We’ll send a car to pick you up now!” My boss said urgently down my phone. I was sleeping, so the call left me slightly dazed. The dreams I’d been having were getting stranger. I tried to shake the images of a huge group of people including myself and a young girl I was always holding fighting people. And, occasionally, each other, and tried to snap into reality.

I pulled some jeans on and a top that were on my bed – I would have dressed professionally, but that would involve effort – and brushed my teeth and hair. Looking presentable I headed downstairs to find some shoes.

“Where do I put my shoes again..?” I muttered to myself. I’d lived in this house for so many years, I should know this. Thinking it was the lack of sleep, I ran around my house searching for shoes.

I eventually found a pair of flats in a cupboard. I didn’t have time to think about how odd it was that I seemed to have one pair of shoes, as the doorbell rang.

I headed quickly for the door. A man – my boss – stood there, looking flustered. He was Japanese, looked around 30, and was called… Actually, I couldn’t remember, which was strange.

“Come along, miss, you are needed.” He told me, walking towards the car.

“Will I need anything?” I asked.

“No, everything you will need will be there.” He replied, jumping in the black car before me. “Get in.” I slid in the front seat, and put on my seatbelt.

“What’s happened?” I asked, trying to imagine what they’d need me for. “In fact, why didn’t one of the on duty people take it? I was sleeping, since it’s my day off.” And having a particularly nice dream, I added in my head.

“No one else was available.” He said quickly.

“There’s an entire police force.”

“You knew what came with the job.” He snapped in reply. I was surprised at his tone, but didn’t say anything. We drove in silence for the rest of the journey, even when I didn’t know where we were going.

We eventually pulled up in front of a large mansion. There was clearly a masquerade party going on. I was used to being underdressed, yet I felt there was something wrong with the setting of this ‘emergency’ – no one seemed scared or worried. They weren’t even whispering, like it was exciting even though it shouldn’t be.

“Go through to the back room. A man I know may escort you there.” My boss ushered me out of the car.

“Shouldn’t I have a radio or a gun or something?” I asked.

“You won’t need it.” He replied. Before I could ask what sort of emergency this was if I wouldn’t need a radio, he drove off.

“Great.” I murmured, feeling under-protected. I headed towards the mansion, and everyone stared at me. Now I felt undressed.

I walked through the huge front doors in a hall full of food and streamers, as well as party goers.

I was approached almost automatically by a man who also wasn't in masquerade. I felt more at ease at the dress situation after seeing him.

“I am Nobu. Come with me.” He turned on his heel and headed to the small door at the back of the room.

“Are you the friend of… my boss?” I still had trouble remembering his name. He looked around as we reached the door.

“… Yes. Please go inside.” He put a key in the door.

“Shouldn’t I at least know what sort of situation I’m going into? This is very unorthodox. And suspicious.”

“Believe me; you will learn all you need to know when you enter.” He opened the door, and I was faced with the people who plagued my dreams.

I glanced up as a girl entered, it seemed to be Becky. For a second I was confused, then I realised that she must have been awoken from the cyrogenic sleep earlier than us. But surely that was risky?

Behind her came our host, who shut the door behind him. He motioned for Becky to take a seat, and handed her a packet of information, quickly filling her in on the year, the situation and the fact that like all of us her memories had been manipulated.

Then he took a seat at the head of the room. "Now as I mentioned, none of you know me. I was only a young boy when you were in your heyday, living with my mother while you were training with my father. Some of you remember him, Nobu (okay so his name was noku apparently, thanks teegs :naughty:). I am called Nobu junior, but you can just call be Nobu. I am a member of the confederation, and leader of the consortium of the PPR, whose purpose is to protect you from the members of the Nation."

"But why would we need protection from the nation?" asked Nico

"Your memories will come to you with time, so I'll sum up. You were being hunted by various governments at a time, seen as threat. Those nations are now among the Nation. We did what we did to you in order to take you off their radar. We planned to let you sleep for many years yet, but events have come to pass and we had to awaken you early. However, until you guys can trust each other, remember each other and work as a team there is no need to tell you the mission required of you."

"why should we trust you?" I asked, voicing a suspicion others had.

"Because ever since my father died I have been the one in charge of your protection and your welfare. My whole life has been focussed on ensuring the Nation did not learn you existed, and on ensuring you were safe in your cyrogenic sleep. And because there is no one else applying for the job of being someone you can trust."

"Your saying an entire group of countries want us dead?" asked Becky in disbelief, still trying to catch up.

"I'm saying they did. They believed you were dead, and I hope they continue to believe that. But it is still dangerous out there, and until you guys can rely on each other as you used to it is not safe to send you out into todays world."

"So what, you want us to wait until we trust each other and remember things. That might never happen." protested nico.

"It'll happen. There is a block in your mind, but through being around each other this block will dissolve, and rapidly. Already you should be able to remember more and more fragments of your real past."

"But."

"No more. There is still more I need to do to prepare. And so I'll leave you in here. When it gets a bit later a door will appear and that will lead you to your dorm rooms." And with that Nobu left

We all looked at each other. How were we supposed to trust each other while simply waiting for the memories to come back?

It sort of works if we move it after yours Arts

Welcome Dr John. We like to inform each other on here that we're posting - just in case so that we don't double post. But otherwise good start. What would you like to be known as in the story?

Thanks, sorry, I didn't know about the double posting thing.... Don't we all portray ourselves as the same character in the story? Thanks.

I focused, and re-focused my eyes on my manilla folder. The swirls of colours making me feel nauseous. I felt like someone had slipped me ketamine. As the image of my file came into focus, I read my information.

I groaned in confusion, having awoken in London, England. I eagerly poured over every picture, every word, that appeared me before me, in this summary of my life. I looked up at Nobu as he talked to us, I wasn't really listening, the sound of thunder was nerve-racking in such an old house with so many strangers. I turned to the tall attractive stranger who had found his way beside me.

"What's your superpower?" I whispered. He giggled an odd chuckle then opened his file.

"It really only says I am a great singer..." He said sadly.

I nodded my head, my superpower scaring me a little.

"..And what about yours?" he asked.

I shook my head, "This cannot be right."

As I shook my head, I felt everything pounding, the light chatter around me escalating into full-blown conversations, getting louder with every second. I grabbed the arm of the gorgeous stranger and shut my eyes tight, waiting for the noise to quiet. Surprisingly it did, as everyone grabbed their files and slowly made their way into the "dorm rooms." I finally followed in with Finn, and who I remembered to be Mika into the rooms that consisted of various bunk beds. The two tall men looked similar except Finn's eyes were a piercing shade of green. I noticed almost all the bunk beds were taken up except one.

"You and M can share, Mika, I'll just stay on the floor." Finn offered.

Mika looked at me to laugh and say it was unnecessary, and my big blue eyes drew him in like some force of nature.

"Alright." He said grabbing my arm and pulling me over to the bunk bed. Finn opened his mouth to protest, but saw a couch he went to go lie on.

As everyone chattered, the lights flickered, dimming them, then making the light obsolete. We were in complete darkness. I heard who I remembered was Artsy, begin to shout.

" I DEMAND YOU PUT THE LIGHTS BACK ON!!"

The butler hurried into the room and assured us it would be fixed by morning and that there were pyjamas under the bed.

I crawled off of my mattress and handed Mika his pyjamas, every move I made still consistant with my pounding migraine. I slid into them, and we crawled back in bed. I had no memory of how I knew either him or Finn, but I felt safe beside Mika.

As soon as Mika had dozed off to sleep, I made my way over to Artsy's bunk bed. I knelt beside her and tugged on her shoulder to wake her up.

"M? What do you want?" she asked.

I bit my lip and stared off into the distance.

"There are weird lights coming from outside..."

Is it to attract people?I forget.

Umm...it kept changing. It started being super hearing or super scent (or was that me?) and then later switched to something else and then eventually I think you took Finn's power, which was attracting people and we played it off by saying it was because you had attracted the attracter, so you automatically got his power?:dunno:

Thanks, sorry, I didn't know about the double posting thing.... Don't we all portray ourselves as the same character in the story? Thanks.

Each writer creates a character for themselves, usually based on a stylized image of themselves. We're all a little egotistical.:naughty:

I'm sorry that we're talking so much about the past in the new storyline. If we're getting confused with all the details, I can't imagine what's it's like for a newcomer.:bleh: You have the choice of going along with being one of the group from the past, or you can be someone new that Nobu Jr. has decided to add to the team, or OH! You could be someone planted as a new member of the team, but who's actually working for the Nation as a spy who's trying to sabotage our training and missions and then maybe after you cause a few bad things to happen, the truth comes out and you fess up and then you change your ways and become one of us!:biggrin2:

.....Ignore me. I get carried away with possible story directions.:blush-anim-cl: Write whatever you want to.:thumb_yello:

Meh, doesn't matter. Anyways I like it. But Finn should still have it too, or something else. Poor Finny can't be powerless. That's Mika's job.:naughty:

I sat up and looked out the window. M was right, out in the back gardens behind the house, there were strange lights wobbling and flashing. Was that why the lights in the house had gone out? I sighed, starting to feel that familiar mixture of curiosity and suspicion that we lived with nonstop in the old days. I looked down at the man in black, now clothed in white pajamas and sleeping. I knew him now as Calvin Harris, the other person in the team who had animal DNA fused into his system like me. I remembered now that we had had a relationship before the "Nap" as I thought of it. But it felt strange to look at him in a romantic capacity now, as my memories were coming back in bits and pieces. I remembered another man whose name I couldn't place, a man I would give my life for, a man I had planned to marry. Somehow, I knew that man wasn't with the team in this house. He had died long ago, though I couldn't remember how or why.

I slid out of bed, careful not to wake Calvin, and M and I made our way out of the house towards the lights. We tiptoed through the perfectly manicured gardens, around the topiaries and statues without making a sound. We approached the source of the lights, which were behind a large, high hedge. I pointed to M, directing her to go one way to see around the hedge, and I went the other. I crept around the edge of the large bushes and peeked at the lights.

The lights turned out to be flood lights, and they were swirling and moving because men were carrying them up ladders and attaching them to the tops of high tripods, and the field of grass below was slowly becoming illuminated.

I'm watching coco avant chanel, so hard to understand :lmfao:

Sorry my post is so short. I couldn't think of what the lights are for.
