School song gets radio airplay

2:06pm Mon 30th Jun 08:: written by Gareth McPherson

Musicians from acts including Mika and Boyzone have joined forces to produce a song for a Cippenham school celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Pupils and teachers from The Westgate School have come up with the catchy tune, The Best Days of Our Lives, along with session performers from Paul McCartney, The Waterboys and Bob Dylan.

Deputy headteacher Colin Moore, who co-wrote the upbeat anthem, approached school dad Danny de Matos, a Cippenham producer, who called on his musically-gifted friends for a favour.

"The whole idea was that if we were going to produce a record celebrating 50 years of the school then we had better give it broad appeal. We wanted to make a pop record rather than something that is too contemporary that would become out of date."

The track, which features 14-year-old pupil Louise Brennan on vocals, has proved a hit with the wider public after getting airplay on local radio station Time FM. All proceeds from the track will be going to the school's charity community fund.

Hmmn...

So does it mean that Mika and other people wrote the song?

Thanks for posting!

I can't find anything else about it, but it says "musicians from acts

including Mika" so it could have been one of his band? And since the

school is near Slough which is near Windsor which is where Luke Juby is,

perhaps he went to school there and he's performed on the record?

I know, it's a lot of "maybes" but maybe...?

Just speculating, since I have nothing else to do (ha!) this fine

June day... :naughty:

I was thinking that, Slough is just a stones throw from Windsor, so Luke could be on there.

thats what I was thinking...I couldn't see Mika doing something like that...being told what to write a song about and having to work with some people he dubbed as so cheesy he wouldn't let them perform his music.

Yes, I heard the whole song -- very pop, upbeat... can't hear any

recognizable voices in the background, so I'm not sure what

contributions the celebrities mentioned may have made...

Well to put you all out of your misery, YES, it is Luke!

I messaged him last night, and he confirmed it, one of his friends children goes to the school, that's how he got involved with the project.

He was curious how we found out about it, so I told him how, and that he should know by now, that we know EVERYTHING:roftl:!
