Most Mika's songs are like love at first sight for me, but this is another piece like Any other World. Difficult to explain. The difference between this song and most other songs in the first album to me is.. I had to listen to it twice before I was able to make judgment, just like Any other world. In fact that took longer to grow on me. I have to say after listening to it twice, I think it's wonderful... except for the fact that rain/raining were repeated too many times before the end.. If Mika sings the chorus more softly...I think it would be better. Heck, I've said all I've had to say on the song, won't be repeating myself now Although, I do agree with Freddie to a certain extent. Mika HAS done a lot of ballads that aren't on LiCM (for example, most of the Forbidden Demos, but a select few have a more upbeat feel to it) and yes, I would like to hear Mika sing a new Pop/Happy Hardcore/Rock type song, so long as the entire album isn't full of them lol. But I'll admit I'm such a card-carrying, diehard fan of Mika's falsetto, and the tones to his voice, that he could be singing "water main, water main" and I'd think it sounded beautiful. And if we're going to compare it to other songs, maybe we should try comparing it to this one: Rain is no Grace Kelly - but it doesn't have to be, in order to be lovely. I also think that if Mika performed his next single (I don't think Rain is going to be one), which would be more upbeat and universally accepted, we would be happy with it. But once the album comes out and we hear Rain we will treat it like OMS, a lovely, quiet song that suits a particular mood. And I agree with you 100% on the fact that Rain is PERFECT for a sad mood.
