I think it is such a pity to have something so small, which irritates so many people, get through like this.

I'm a editor of several newsletters myself (and i proofread books sometimes) so of course the typos hit me at first too.. but then i thought, who really cares? It's a book of ART. I don't think the book is spoiled at all by these tiny errors. They sound the same out loud, right?

 

2. The artwork. One thing to say; OH MY GOD.

Thanks for the heads up!!! Its very beautiful.

I especially like the first illustration with all the red/orange and blue colors.

The cover of the book is scary the combo of skulls and flowers, creepy and original.

Well, that's just it -- I'm not going to correct anyone who makes a

spelling error in casual posting on a forum, or on Twitter. It's a bit rude,

IMO. You don't stop your friends in the middle of a conversation when

they say something ungrammatical, do you? If someone says, for

example, "I've got..." instead of "I have" or "I have gotten," you

wouldn't interrupt them and say, "Excuse me..."

 

But this is a formal publication -- there were, ostensibly, people who

were paid to make sure this publication looked polished and professional.

A lot of care obviously went into the production. Someone, therefore,

should have caught the mistakes -- I don't think they were intentional.

And for the record, I'm not whining

about it. I'm just stating a fact: There are errors, a number of them,

in this digital booklet.

Maybe, BS. I hear "going" in the latter lyric, too, but thought from the

first time I heard it that "growing" would have made more sense.

Yeah, you have a point. But no, i wasn't kidding. I was stating how i felt.

 

I personally don't think it matters hugely, but i understand how it can matter to some people, and matter to the artist (depending on which one it was) and all.

 

 

Persoanlly, I just thought everyone was being rather silly, making a huge deal over typos and not commenting on the actual book, and i felt that was a shame. reading through the thread i didnt feel like reading posts by people repeating over and over about how much they hated the typos, and how shocking they were, and i thought; jeez.. theres this beautiful art, and you actually GET the lyrics for once, and still you all whine!

Ah, a music release nestling here in a Nice Publications post… Hopefully we’ll see more and more of this kind of thing as record labels look to furnish music fans with lovingly conceived and produced packages for their offerings…

 

 

This particular release is Mika’s Songs For Sorrow EP released on Casablanca Records which comes in the form of a hardback book with song lyrics and pages of illustration which bring to life the lyrics of each song – created by a host of artists and illustrators that include Peter Blake, Da Wack, David McKee, Jim Woodring, Richard Hogg, Huck Scarry and Sophie Blackall to name just a few…

The actual CD is housed in a sleeve tipped on to the inside back cover.

 

Mika is credited with the concept and art direction of the package with design and layout credited to Alex Hutchinson.

Additional design and layout: Richard Hogg and DaWack.
