Holiday mashup (Mika plus Night Before Christmas poem)

Hey fellow Mika fans!

As a newly joined member who missed the deadline for the Christmas card exchange, I wanted to offer something for the holidays. Something that may ring familiar to most, or at least those of you who grew up hearing the Night Before Christmas poem. I tried to work in as many familiar Mika themes as I could, but if anyone has better revisions of lines to offer, I'd love to hear them!

Anyway, here's what I've come up with so far:

’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the land

Not a creature was stirring, except Mika’s fans.

The jackets were hung in the closet with care

In hopes that Mika soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds

While visions of lollipops danced in their heads,

And me in my satin, and you in your taff,

Had just settled down for a good belly-laugh,

When out on the lawn there arose such a shout,

I sprang up to see what the fuss was about.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to fans waiting below,

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a fabulous driver, so lively and sleek,

I knew in a moment it must be our Mik.

More feisty and flashy than unicorns they came,

And he smiled, and sang, and called them by name:

“Now Grace! Now Kelly! Now Karen and Lola!

On Georgia! On April! Emily and Paloma!

To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!

Now dash away! Flash away! Smash away all!”

As raindrops before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the deer they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and a Toy Boy too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my hand and was turning around

Down the chimney came Mika with a bound.

He was dressed all in stardust, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all sparkling, with no sign of soot.

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like an angel just opening his pack.

His eyes, how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his lips colored berry.

His sweet little teeth poked out like a bunny’s,

And his curly brown hair was right on the money.

An umbrella’s cane he held tight in one hand,

And the spokes of it encircled his head like a fan.

His face it was chiseled, even more so his abs

That flexed when he danced (not to mention the dabs!).

He was lean and svelte, a dear, charming guy,

And I squealed when I saw him, not going to lie.

A wink of his eye and a toss of his head,

Gave me reason to believe I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings, then turned with a smirk,

And laying a finger aside of his nose,

He gave another wink, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, before breaching the blue,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all, I see you!"

That's all folks! :biggrin2: Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I wish you a safe, cozy, and relaxing holiday season this year. And I look forward to meeting some of you at my first Mika concert in Montreal, once spring is just around the corner!

What a wonderful poem @Aki Celeste! It really made me smile! 😃

I think I'll recite this to everyone every Christmas from now on! And maybe more Christmas poems/songs should be Mika-fied! 😁

LOL, "Mika-fied." Sounds like more fun than some of your average holiday shenanigans, for sure! I love the idea of reworking Christmas songs too... * puts on thinking cap *

That was brilliant @Aki Celeste well done! Thank you for making me giggle. I loved this description!

His eyes, how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his lips colored berry.

His sweet little teeth poked out like a bunny’s,

And his curly brown hair was right on the money.

@StarlightAhh, thank you! I liked that part too, especially after finding out that there was a conversation thread devoted specifically to Mika's teeth. :biggrin2: Me personally, I'm all about the hair, and the music, and his personality in general. There's something for everyone! :groupwave:
