Stupéfiant dans le show d'avant-match pour la finale de la coupe du monde de Rugby 2023 remportée cette année par l'Afrique du Sud (12-11 pour la Nouvelle-Zélande), Mika a ébloui les spectateurs et les sportifs. Néons, feux d'artifices, costumes multicolores, le chanteur a offert un spectacle inoubliable à ses fans.

 

Le 28 octobre 2023, Mika a réalisé un show épique devant 7,3 millions de téléspectateurs lors de la grande finale de la Coupe du Monde de rugby opposant l'Afrique du Sud à la Nouvelle-Zélande. Un peu stressé après la polémique provoquée par l'interprétation des hymnes en canon par une chorale d'enfants (la Mêlée des choeurs) lors des premiers matchs de la compétition, le chanteur avait décidé de tout reprendre en main pour offrir aux spectateurs un show digne de ce nom.

 

Un long travail qui a porté ses fruits. Accompagné de 97 enfants de la Mêlée des choeurs sur scène, le chanteur a interprété plusieurs titres Relax, Grace Kelly, C'est la vie, Happy ending et Golden dans un costume glitter. Feux d'artifices, énorme ballon en forme de coeur rouge, chorales, danseurs... le show a répondu à toutes les attentes des spectateurs et des sportifs !

 

"Tellement heureux d'avoir performé ce soir au stade de France avec les enfants de la Mêlée des choeurs en clôture de la Coupe du monde de rugby 2023. Quel plaisir immense de participer à cette grande fête. Merci à la région Île-de-France pour son soutien, à ce moment de partage en tant que partenaire de France 2023", a confié par la suite le chanteur sur X, fier de sa prestation.

Parrain de l'opération lancée par le comité d'organisation en collaboration avec la Maîtrise populaire de l'Opéra-comique, Mika avait révélé à BFMTV comment il avait tout repris à zéro après le couac des hymnes lors des premiers matchs. "La seule chose qui n'était pas à la hauteur, c'était les hymnes (...) J'étais au stade (...) J'ai tout vécu en direct. Ce match était fantastique. La seule chose qui n'était pas à la hauteur, c'était les hymnes. Les arrangements ne fonctionnaient pas. J'avais parrainé l'opération, mais je ne m'étais pas investi dans l'artistique, on ne m'avait pas sollicité".

 

Finalement, "à la demande des équipes de France 2023 et de la ministre des Sports", il est alors passé "en mode obsessionnel". "J'ai appelé toutes mes équipes pour leur dire : 'Il faut tout refaire.' Cela aurait été absurde de tout abandonner à ce moment-là"n a-t-il confié. "Ils m'ont donné quatre jours pour arranger, orchestrer, réenregistrer, monter, approuver, mixer, mastériser (...) Mes équipes dormaient dans le studio. Lorsqu'une personne se couchait, une autre reprenait" a-t-il révélé. Après le travail de Mika, "les organisateurs ont diffusé les hymnes sur des bandes audios et sans la présence des chorales sur le terrain".

Adesso posso tirare il fiato, e posso dirlo: ogni volta che penso di essere arrivato a dare il massimo, mi sbaglio.

Perché è come se salissi un gradino in più, ma alto centinaia di metri, spinto in alto dalle persone con cui collaboro e con cui condivido la fatica, la tensione, l'ispirazione, il lavoro quotidiano. Spero che anche per loro sia così. Per me lo è.

 

E per questo voglio ringraziare @mikainstagram , perché la sua creatività mi spinge a superare i miei limiti. Il suo abito - indossato in occasione della finale dei mondiali di rugby a Parigi - è stato fatto a Martina Franca, nel laboratorio di Rossorame, con 5.000 specchietti, in sole 5 settimane di lavoro compreso tutto il corpo di ballo e musicisti.

« Je suis redevenu fan de rugby »

 

Vous avez beaucoup œuvré pour la mêlée des chœurs. Le projet a d'abord connu une indignation de la part de supporters et a ensuite trouvé un second souffle, auquel vous avez participé.

 

C’était une initiative ambitieuse qui a survécu malgré beaucoup de change- ments et de contraintes. Le plus important c’était de ne pas abandonner, on ne pou- vait pas ! C’est quelque chose de beau et de nécessaire. Les fans du rugby se sont exprimés, on a pris une petite pause car on a découvert que les hymnes n’étaient pas assez efficaces. Il fallait expliquer aux enfants que ce n’était pas le bon ef- fet mais qu’on allait retravailler ça. Ça fait partie du métier et vous allez apprendre une grande leçon. Alors, les enfants se sont impliqués à fond et sont venus travailler à 8 heures du matin. Peu de monde a dormi pendant quelques jours mais on ne pouvait pas arrêter ce projet. On se devait d’être à la hauteur des attentes des joueurs, des fans, des Fédérations, parce que les hymnes sont sacrés. Un hymne doit être intense et émouvant. Le challenge qu’on a eu c’est qu’il fallait faire beaucoup de choses en très peu de temps, environ trois jours et demi (rires).

 

Quelle place a le rugby dans votre vie ?

 

J’ai grandi entouré par ça. J’ai beaucoup d’amis qui y jouent. La première partie de mon enfance était à Paris mais après je suis parti à Londres. J’ai commencé à chanter très jeune, je suis redevenu fan du rugby, et le Top 14 m’a montré que l’ambiance du rugby est totalement dif- férente du foot. Puis plus grand, j’ai passé des soirs et des soirs dans les pubs entourés par mes potes pendant les matchs.

 

Vous avez un souvenir marquant avec ce sport ?

 

J’ai souvenir d’avoir joué au rugby étant petit à « St Philip’s School » à Londres. Je n’étais pas tellement bon en rugby mais mon frère était fabuleux. Je me souviens de ma première expérience en rugby, il y avait le baptême de boue, où le nouveau joueur est complètement couvert de boue. J’étais tellement content de ce moment, c’était la première fois de ma vie que je suis allé dans le bus puis chez moi, entièrement couvert de boue (rires). Ma mère qui me criait dessus et moi j’avais un grand sourire. Je retiens que dans ce sport on peut rentrer complètement sale et personne ne peut vous gronder !

 

Aviez-vous une préférence entre le XV de France et l’Angleterre ?

 

J’étais un peu partagé mais ça fait maintenant des mois qu’on travaille avec les enfants. Ils sont tous pour la France, tous entourés par France Rugby et l’esprit des Bleus. Donc j’étais plutôt du côté de la France.

 

Des projets en lien avec le rugby sont-ils dans les tuyaux ?

 

Oui c’est mon deuxième projet et donc comme on dit jamais deux sans trois. Moi vous savez, je suis quelqu’un qui n’attend rien et qui est toujours surpris par ce qui arrive et c’est comme ça que je peux m’amuser. Faut laisser la vie s’évoluer.

What place does rugby have in your life?

I grew up surrounded by it. I have a lot of friends who play it. The first part of my childhood was in Paris but then I moved to London. I started singing very young, I became a rugby fan again, and the Top 14 showed me that the atmosphere of rugby is totally different from football. Then when I got older, I spent evenings and evenings in pubs surrounded by my friends during the matches.

Do you have a memorable memory with this sport?

I remember playing rugby as a child at “St Philip’s School” in London. I wasn't that good at rugby but my brother was fabulous. I remember my first experience in rugby, there was the mud baptism, where the new player is completely covered in mud. I was so happy with that moment, it was the first time in my life that I went on the bus and then home, completely covered in mud (laughs). My mother shouting at me and I had a big smile. I remember that in this sport you can come home completely dirty and no one can scold you!

Did you have a preference between the XV of France and England?

I was a little torn but we have been working with the children for months now. They are all for France, all surrounded by France Rugby and the spirit of the Blues. So I was more on the French side.

Are any rugby-related projects in the pipeline?

Mika : sa performance géniale pour la cérémonie de clôture de la Coupe du monde de rugby

 

Alors qu'il s'apprête à publier son nouvel album, Mika était l'invité phare de la cérémonie de clôture de la Coupe du monde de rugby samedi soir. Devant plus de 10 millions de téléspectateurs, le chanteur a interprété tous ses tubes, entouré d'enfants. Regardez sa performance colorée et festive sur Purecharts !

 

Le retour de Mika se fait en fanfare ! En effet, le chanteur s'apprête à sortir son tout premier album en français le 1er décembre prochain. Entouré de ses acolytes, en guise de musiciens ou danseurs, il a ensuite enchaîné avec "Grace Kelly", cerclé par des enfants portant des fleurs géantes et sous les couleurs arc-en-ciel. Avec sa chorale, Mika a scandé le refrain fédérateur de "C'est la Vie" avant de monter sur un piano blanc, orné d'un énorme coeur rouge comme une montgolfière, pour offrir un bouquet final au son de ses tubes "Underwater" et "We Are Golden", avec effets pyrotechniques au programme. Wow !

 

Après cette performance acclamée, Mika s'est confié sur les réseaux sociaux :

« Tellement heureux d'avoir performé ce soir au stade de France avec les enfants de la Mêlée des choeurs en clôture de la Coupe du Monde de Rugby 2023. Quel plaisir immense de participer à cette grande fête ». Il a aussi remercié chaque élève de la chorale et toutes les équipes :
