Looking at dates for your 2024 gig-going diary? London’s live music scene is one of the world’s best, and this year is packed with a host of brilliant gigs, brand-new tours and outdoor festivals. While many concerts have sold out already, there are plenty of tickets you can get your hands on for concerts in London 2024, as well as fans selling theirs at face value, so keep an eye out on fan-to-fan resale sites.

Here’s a look at the best London concerts in 2024 – from intimate gigs to arena shows, UK festivals, and the long-awaited The Eras Tour.

Mika

If you watched Mika’s Eurovision performance in 2022, you, like me, might have been one of the thousands who immediately tried to get their hands on tickets to his sold-out Roundhouse performance that same year. Well, now’s your chance to catch the platinum-selling sensation live as he brings his highly anticipated Apocalypse Calypso tour to the UK, hitting London’s Eventim Apollo, Brighton Centre, Manchester’s O2 Apollo, and Dublin’s 3Olympia in April 2024.

Fresh off the release of ‘C’est la vie,’ the lead single from his recent, fully French album, expect technicolour pop and infectious energy from a global icon.

  • Where: Eventim Apollo, London
  • When: 9th April 2024

No reference to Wolverhampton!

I guess it was too soon to mention Mika's other UK shows this summer ( eg Kew Gardens)

Brighton Pride 2024: Attitude’s 5 picks for Mika’s headline setlist

The iconic vocalist will be joining Girls Aloud this August in Preston Park

Brighton Pride 2024 is mere months away, with Girls Aloud and Mika leading the lineup for this year’s FABULOSO in the Park fundraiser held Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August.

Joining them on the Brighton & Hove Pride FABULOSO main stage will be Billy PorterSophie Ellis-BextorS Club and Gabrielle, with the full lineup already announced.

In eager anticipation of seeing the lovely Mika take to the stage in Preston Park, team Attitude has picked our five favourite Mika tracks that we’re praying to see this year at Brighton Pride.

1. ‘Grace Kelly’

You can’t go wrong with arguably Mika’s most famous track, one that’s guaranteed to get even the most closeted Mika fans among us unashamedly singing along in the sunshine.

2. ‘Big Girl you are Beautiful’

The OG body-positivity track, ‘Big Girls’ is a joyous, fun and fabulous number to get on down to anytime time of the year. You don’t even need to be either big or a girl to enjoy this one – anyone is welcome in the world of Mika.

3. ‘Lollipop’

Showcasing Mika’s superhuman high-pitched vocal prowess, Lollipop appears like a CBeebies show theme song on the surface, but actually carries a message about not giving away your power. Analysis aside, it’s yet another fun and upbeat Mika track to get your dance on to.

4. ‘Popular Song’ ft. Ariana Grande

We’re crediting this song, based on a track of the same name from the musical Wicked, for landing Ariana a part in the movie adaptation of the Broadway and West End favourite. And we’re clicking our heels together three times in the hope that Ms Grande makes a surprise appearance with Mika in Brighton.

5. ‘Lonely Alcoholic’

This soulful, moving number is more smoky cabaret bar than festival mainstage – but still, this is Mika’s best track to have a sway and a sing to while resting between upbeat bangers.

Could that journalist be the same or the brother of the one who thought the piano wing was a foot and saw Peter Pan and Alice in wonderland during Apocalypse Calypso show? :naughty:

I love Lonely Alcoholic :wub2: but I doubt Mika would sing it on stage... although he is now singing songs like Any other world, Talk about you and Billy Brown so maybe he will go on changing the setlist a bit :wink2:

MASTER OF POP MAGIC

Mika ready to sprinkle pop magic over Dublin
Mika closing European tour with first Irish show since 2012

MULTI-talented, multi-lingual master of sparkling pop MIKA is back for his first live show in Ireland since 2012.

The 40-year-old regularly sings in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and earlier this year he performed songs in Mandarin during a gig in Hong Kong.

He is arguably best known for the ridiculously catchy Grace Kelly, which spent five weeks at number one in 2007.

It helped propel his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion to the top spot in the UK and 11 other countries.

While chart success has proved more elusive since his late 2000s run of six top 20 hits, Mika has consolidated his status as an international star on TV shows such as the French version of the The Voice and Italy’s take on X Factor.

He reminded UK audiences of his soaring vocal talents and unerring pop instincts when he co-hosted and performed in front of 161 million viewers at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.

He’ll be back on TV screens as a judge on the Claudia Winkleman-fronted talent show The Piano later this year.

Mika completed a yet to be released English language album last year. Que ta tete fleurisse toujours (May Your Head Always Bloom), his first French language album, is out now.

■ Mika ends his Apocalypse Calypso tour of Europe at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Thursday. All tickets sold

So many cities he hasn’t been to for 12+ years: Berlin, Brighton and now also Dublin. It feels like a come back! A lot has happened in the past 12 years, I hope this will generate more opportunities for him and it won’t take another 12 years to come back to those cities :thumb_yello:

Mika at Eventim Apollo review:

A joyous, golden pop extravaganza

The latest unexpected item to appear on pop culture’s bingo card is a renaissance for the polyglot superstar Mika, who is enjoying a new surge of popularity off the back of his heroic turn at Eurovision 2022: the singer didn’t just co-host the contest for Italy, he raced through a flawless medley of his Noughties hits without seeming to break a sweat.

Though some people have but faint memories of Mika as the relentlessly cheerful singer-songwriter behind 2007 hits Grace Kelly and Relax, Take It Easy, he’s also cultivated a dedicated fanbase in the intervening years.

Filled to the brim with high-pop brilliance that many of today’s contemporary recording artists would envy, his London performance was a tidal wave of energetic, progressive dance songs, mixed with some unbeatable goosebump-raising nostalgia.

The wonderfully camp homecoming at London’s Hammersmith Apollo began with the first of Mika’s many costumes. In vintage Miley Cyrus fashion, our Beirut-born, London and Paris raised popstar began the show from an oversized birdcage, dressed in a crimson red suit with anatomical angel wings to boot. An order was issued right away: in order to save our souls, we must dance. So far, so theatrical.

His immediately energetic movements resembled that of some kind of supernatural creature. No thanks to the prop angel wings, which broke after the first song.

Following the first costume change of the night, Mika dropped to his knees to lament the failure, praying to a deity he labelled the “God of Hammersmith Apollo”. The crowd stood with him in solemn, pop-fuelled prayer.

Expectations were high given the star’s electric performance at Eurovision in 2022, and fans piled into the venue dressed in attire that Harry Styles would certainly approve of. The crowd was peppered with occasional Pride flags (one wielded by a person dressed as a banana) and the odd full sequin, glittery two-piece.

When the time came to perform 2007 hit Big Girl (You Are Beautiful), inspired by the old Orange County Butterfly Lounge, the singer embarked on a cross-venue odyssey that we’ve not seen since Lenny Kravitz cropped up in the upper stalls at Wembley Arena in 2018.

Within the blink of an eye and sporting a neon pink, sequin-adorned suit (at this point, it was impossible to keep track of the costume changes) Mika danced through the stalls right up into the gods. Concert etiquette may have fallen off a cliff more generally in a post-Covid world, but this crowd felt different.

Perhaps the most tender part of the evening was the singer’s explanation of how his most iconic songs were written, many alongside his siblings in an Earl’s Court basement, roughly a 10-minute drive from the sold-out venue.

Recalling a wide-eyed childhood which saw him stare out of a car window to glimpse the name in lights which a signified headline show at the Apollo, it was evident the crowd felt touched to be part of his first performance at the venue since 2010.

Two encores and multiple, several minute-long standing ovations later, the backlit curtains closed on a dance-fuelled night led by a supremely talented vocalist who never once faltered, despite running, singing, jumping and gallivanting for two hours straight.

Live Review: MIKA

Music Editor Hannah Gadd reviews MIKA’s cosmic performance at The Halls in Wolverhampton

Published at 09:00 on 7 April 2024
Images by @MIKA on Facebook

MIKA is back on tour, throwing parties all around the nation with his latest live show. Fans were dressed for the occasion, decked out in sequins, body glitter and bold colours preparing to enter the vivacious world of the Apocalypse Calypso tour.

The pop icon burst onto stage in a bright red suit, opening with the huge track ‘Origin Of Love’. MIKA’s energy is instantly infectious as he dances around the stage in front of neon visuals. From one hit to another, ‘Talk About You’ and ‘Lollipop’ follow, MIKA darting around the stage holding a captivating stage presence. During the latter track he divided the crowd in half- his angels and devils as he described us- taking it in turns in singing the song back to him.

MIKA is as charming and humorous as ever as he welcomes fans to the show following the breathless string of hits, comically adding the show was late starting as he was stuck in traffic. The show continues with beautiful desert scenery illuminating the venue before the singer re-appears in a gold suit for ‘Feels Like Fire’ and ‘Underwater’, MIKA having the audience transfixed on his sensational vocal ability.

‘Yo Yo’ propelled us further into MIKA’s euro-pop daydream

An animated neon statue fills the screen as MIKA substitutes his gold suit for an even greater glittery one before kicking into the synthpop track ‘Relax’. This performance felt like it was straight out of the 80s with its bright lights, disco beat and big synths. MIKA’s falsetto does not falter once, his voice remarkably powerful. ‘Yo Yo’ propelled us further into MIKA’s euro-pop daydream, the whole venue dancing to the immense anthem.

MIKA’s wardrobe seems endless as he struts back out onto the stage, this time in a hot pink suit. He spends the first verse of ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)’ on stage before joining fans for the majority of the song, working his way around the venue, even making his way up to the balcony. Stood by the mixing desk, I wasn’t expecting to come face-to-face with MIKA at any point during the night but there he was in all his pink glory singing with us.

…with MIKA’s commanding presence and the neon kaleidoscope which sat behind him, the show was dazzling.

One thing that must be said about this tour is that the visuals are phenomenal, with every neon display and animation we are transported into the songs. Despite the venue being too small for the usual set-up, with MIKA’s commanding presence and the neon kaleidoscope which sat behind him, the show was dazzling. ‘Good Guys’ was a perfect example, even when the pace was slowed we never left MIKA’s enthralling world. The smaller venue meant his custom grand piano wouldn’t fit on stage leaving the singer to adapt. Grabbing his piano stool and a mic stand, he hilariously played the air-piano during ‘Billy Brown’, adding ‘some madness needs to stay in Wolverhampton’.

Obvious crowd favourite ‘Grace Kelly’ was up next. The performance manifested into a storm of bright colours, immense vocals and unstoppable fun- The Halls was alive and the atmosphere was palpable. ‘Happy Ending’ saw the singer performing the heartfelt track in a pink haze as phone torches raised into the air. A cosmic performance of ‘Love Today’ followed which ended the main set.

The gigantic sounds of ‘We Are Golden’ sent the audience into a frenzy of excitement and ended the glorious evening on an electric note.

‘Any Other World’ brought the singer back on stage for the encore which made for yet another heart-warming moment in the night. A floral backdrop lit up the venue as the gigantic sounds of ‘We Are Golden’ sent the audience into a frenzy of excitement and ended the glorious evening on an electric note.

After two hours, eighteen songs and seven outfits, it is clear that MIKA knows how to put on a stellar live performance. The Apocalypse Calypso tour is a magically fun night of astonishing musical talent and I cannot wait to see MIKA live again.
