I agree 100% that we shouldn't treat it as absolute autobiography. I think there are grains of truth in everything he writes, but it's never word-for-word, exactly as it happened. It's just that, as a writer, I guess I tend to focus more on the words than I should. Well, he has said several times over the years specifically that SITM was about his mother and grandmother, but again, I'm sure there are elements that might apply to other family members. And I guess that you're right -- not being actively rejected is not the same as acceptance. I say that all the time, in fact -- tolerance is a good starting point, but acceptance is better. But musically speaking -- the melody, the arrangement, everything about it, it all works for me. I love the "je sais que je t'aime" repetition, too, even though it's so hard for me to say. In fact, I find it easier if I treat it as a name -- Jessie K. Jatem. For some reason, I can say that more easily and I guess that will be close enough when we're all singing together at a gig!

This is absolutely my favorite song on the album, with Moi, Andy et Paris a very close second. So beautiful. I've thought on the words a bit, and while initially I thought it could be about Mika's mother, the thing that confuses me about that is that he's said his mother understood that he was gay before he even came out to her, and that she urged him to get back together with Andy when they broke up. So it doesn't seem that he would be apologizing to her, and saying to her, if God abandons us, it's for you I stay. I mean, it doesn't sound like she was giving him guilt about his sexuality or his relationship at all. But what about his grandmother? I'm looking at the lyrics and thinking she was in a life that she didn't choose (married at 16 to a man old enough to be her father), and she was stuck, as she aged, living in a broken body... Did she play the victim, not taking responsibility for things that she did? I'm remembering the lyrics to Stuck in the Middle, which basically seemed to be a message to her, where he says, "This is just who I am, this ain't a greater plan to break your heart..." And "with your bitter words you kick me in the gutter... Ours is a family that's based upon tradition, but with my careless words I tread upon your vision." The idea of "tradition" seems like something his grandmother might cling to more than his mother, and his behavior might have been something his grandmother disapproved of, something that they had "bitter words" over. But then again, I guess that could all apply to his mother as well -- we don't know, probably will never know. And in the end it doesn't matter that much to me. I think it's a gorgeous song and it moves me, whatever might be behind the lyrics.

Yes, I think most songs have more than just guitar. Like the acoustic version of Overrated starts out with mostly guitar, but there's some piano in there, too. And Heroes starts with guitar, but then there's the chorus.

That would be my preference. We, sorry I mean, Mika, pays a monthly fee and that includes hosting our site "in the cloud" and premium (ahem) tech support and storage. As I was just telling Karin, the plan we have isn't even offered anymore, they have a whole new price scale. So I guess the worst-case scenario would be that they tell us we need to upgrade to a more expensive plan. It doesn't look like it would be that much more than what we are currently paying, so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. However, if you've uploaded a photo once, you shouldn't upload it again and again. I wasn't specifically referring to your post, Karin, you just happened to post right before me. I was more referring to all of the other social media posts we have here. I agree it's nice to have the videos without the water marks, so maybe uploading the IG reels should be the standard, and then we just add something like "(also posted on Twitter, Tiktok, etc.)" I think it's good if we're all just more aware so we aren't posting multiples of the exact same things. About the videos -- I think you actually can embed the same video in different threads, at least, I think I've done it. But I better double-check on that before I say for sure. I have a question about all this social media. Is it really necessary ... every single day? Ooops, free associating... -- no, but really, is it necessary to post the exact same video/photos and text multiple times just because Mika has posted it on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram... and sometimes Facebook and YouTube, too? I mean, I find it clutters up the thread, and I'm scrolling and scrolling trying to find something new and I see the exact same thing over and over again -- and multiply that when people quote including the videos (as I've done here). Isn't it enough to just post once and then say, he posted it also on the other social media? I get it, sometimes the videos are slightly different and maybe you want to preserve the differences for posterity. But when they are identical, and the photos and text are too, I think it's just redundant. But maybe I'm in the minority? Do you all find it useful? I have two concerns: 1) that it clutters the thread, as I said, making it harder to find new/different posts and 2) storage space -- we do not pay for unlimited storage on this site and TBH we have far exceeded the limit that we do pay for. I'm worried that one day Invision will notice and either start charging us more or shut us off, or both. And every time we upload duplicates of the same video or photos, we're using up storage needlessly. OK, just my 2p -- call me a worrywart, but hey, that's why they pay me the big bucks. Please lmk what you think.

Mika est un garçon délicieux. I haven't read any further in the article, because I just love that as a starting point. Even my limited French can translate that as "Mika is a delicious boy." Delicious to look at, delicious to listen to, delicious to smell... What a way to start off! I love it!
