  1. haha, i love what he says about toy boy, with the flutes! it totally sounds like disney, and it's my fave part in the song, this contrast between the disney flutes and the lyrics! interesting that it's really taken out of "cinderella", no wonder it sounded so familiar to me, lol!
  2. i didn't know either until 2 days ago! not 100% sure yet though. but likely. will decide this weekend.
  3. i might be interested in general admission tickets 1 for LA and 1 for oakland, preferably including the magic numbers code you got for it in the presale. will decide for sure this weekend, but just wanted to ask already whether there are spare tickets (& magic numbers ) here or whether i'll have to buy them over ticketmaster.
  4. talking about which: it should have an area saying sth like "don't give mika more gifts than he can carry himself".
  5. yeah, think that would be cool. do you know those ex-bf/gf voodoo dolls that have their bodies divided into different areas, like "will get into embarrassing situation" or whatever on it? we could make such areas like "queue up in one line" "no photos" or whatever else john would want us to do or not do. edit: found a pic of the dolls i meant: http://www.geburtstagsgeschenk-online.de/shop/catalog/images/product_images/info_images/4804_0.jpg
  6. not that much yet, except that we decided on a book AND a songtext AND the voodoo doll - lol! about that voodoo doll, i have this image in my head of it actually being not drawn but somewhat 3d - like, it could be made out of cloth and somehow attached to a page or to the front cover of the book - that'd make it easier to stick the voodoo pins into it. i'll try to develop a more detailed plan for it all, just probably won't have time to start before mid next week. tiibet & lindemfc, added you to the list.
  7. well, i'd still prefer the piano lesson. this one would only make me fat, lol!
  8. just saw that there's a videoclip on the german mikasounds website, it's mainly advertising for his new album with old concert+video footage, but in the middle there's an interview with him - not sure whether i've seen it before, looks slightly familiar, but some parts seemed new to me. though no new info really. anyway, if you want to watch it, it's here: http://www.uk-sounds.de/mika/news/ (scroll down a bit, on the right) plus there's a small article in current BRAVO magazine. i didn't buy it, so no scan - but it's this pic: http://static.universal-music-services.de/asset_new/214981/406/view/Photo8-We-Are-Go-300CMYK.jpg and the text says that he was bullied and was shy as a teenager, and is still shy in his private life but not on stage. so nothing new there. they also wrote that WAG entered the BRAVO reader charts at no. 9.
  9. oh you US guys are getting nice prizes at the moment - really hope he'll do similar things on his european tour... good luck to everyone!
  10. yup, i'm getting the same all the time. will tell ppl that i have a website, and they're like "oh, cool, about what?", i'd say "mika" and their face falls. next question will be sth like "so you're a FAN?!" as if that was something disgusting and contagious. ok but this is going slightly OT here. any chance of a JPG/PDF of the article, as we can't order it from other countries?
  11. it says on their website that it's also given out in melbourne and brisbane... but will ask my friend if she got it. she hasn't got a scanner, but might be able to take pix with her camera.
  12. nope, not sold out, anyway not LA and Oakland. and venue size a few thousand i think. but if you go there you still can't take part in the competition, you need to live in the US.
  13. ok. i've decided that i'd love to go to this, if i can afford it. meaning, if i can afford a 2-week holiday, as i won't fly over just for the gigs. price for flights would be ok, munich-vegas, vegas-LA, san francisco-munich for 650 euro altogether. haven't done research on hotels yet though, i was told that prices in vegas are ok if it's not a weekend, but that LA is quite expensive. and i wanna stay in LA for a bit more than a week, so i'd have to find something as cheap as possible, as long as it's safe & clean. i'd be grateful for any tips. not sure yet whether i'd travel alone or with a friend, in the latter case i'd need a 2-bed-room in a hotel, and if i travel alone, a shared room in a youth hostel would be just fine. guess that'd be the cheapest possibility, but don't know if hostels are clean+safe in the US?
  14. have to see if i can afford hotels for a few days vegas and a week or so LA, or find alternatives. flights would be ok. aah, i can't believe i really wanna do this! will do research and make a final decision this weekend.
  15. sigh, another competition in which i can't take part cause i live in the wrong country. could i just win the lottery please (30 million jackpot here atm), so i can buy a house in london and one in LA, just for taking part in all these mika competitions? and this one is REALLY good. i mean, forget tickets and living room gigs and meet+greets and everything, a private piano lesson... - ok they didn't say how long it would be, did they? maybe he'll just teach you how to play the scale with your index finger... but i'd guess it should be more like 30-60 minutes, and you'll have something to talk about with him all the time, this would be so f*ing brilliant! and for me personally, i've had piano lessons when i was younger, but i hated playing all those etudes and stuff from the sheet, and never found out how to play a background music to something you sing. so i taught myself playing guitar instead back then, but i like piano music more and would still love to be able to do that. mika could give me some tips... oh well... i just hope he'll give away such a prize on the european tour too! btw, so what about those "rounds" they mention, does it mean you have to do something to enter the next round, or is it just about being lucky enough to win?
  16. would be great. damn, wanted to go today with a friend, but she cancelled. well, friday then.
  17. but i think in the US it will be the start of the new album tour, it's big venues, and he talked in one of the video interviews about some sort of 60s setting for it, so i'm sure it won't be the same like we know it now. and after the US tour i think he'll have this new show in europe too. and australia and wherever else he's going. might change it a bit more for europe next year, like he developed his first tour further and further, but i'm quite sure he'll sing the songs of the new album in the US. after all, it will have been out for a month when the tour starts, so imo it would be strange if he didn't.
  18. wonder if it's about the same person he wrote "rain" about. i see some parallels. the person wants him to change and not accept him as he is.
  19. sigh. was hoping for this one not to be uk only. but well... looks like there's no way around flying over to the US for me, if i wanna hear the new album live this year.
  20. i love it what 2 songs he names as his guilty pleasures. they both remind me of my childhood, "islands in the stream" being on the radio all the time, and "bare necessities", wow, i used to LOVE disney's jungle book back then, especially this song - it always reminds be of balou, who was my fave character. i had the LP of the jungle book, and and as a child listened to it as often as to mika's albums today. still like the song, esp. its german translation, as this is one of the few translated songs that are as great as the original - and this is the one i listened to as a child, of course. just read the lyrics to "islands in the stream", wow, they're so romantic! would be interesting to know if it makes mika cry because of the lyrics or because of some memories he connects with the song.
  21. my friend who lives in sydney told me that tomorrow there'll be something about mika in the free newspaper MX (http://www.mxnet.com.au/) - so maybe you'll want to look out for that (and scan it for us if it's interesting... ).
  22. yeah, i'm glad actually that i asked him in munich about whether it was his idea, i just asked because someone else wanted to know, but i now also think it's an important information, i'd be wondering too whether it was all the record companys' idea.
  23. cool, thanx for posting that! looking forward to reading the whole interview in the mag. yay, many thanx for that, didn't think i'd still be in time!
