  1. So Seetickets basically charge £10 on top of the face value of the ticket. Hopefully buying direct from Kew will be less.
  2. Is that a seated ticket (circle) or standing? I think that might influence people.
  3. I think this could be a fun event, but I'm waiting for more information about ticket prices.
  4. Oh wow - another chance to see Mika in the UK. Wonder if there will be a fan pre-sale?
  5. An interesting song to choose for an audition
  6. Happy Birthday

      @Prisca Don't worry, thanks! :hug:

  7. I think it can be summed up as "If it's the end of the world, let's party (privately)".
  8. @mellody You're not the only one not thrilled by this song. It's not what I was expecting from the title, and even after listening to it a few times I'm not overwhelmed by it (musically or lyrically). But, as you say, maybe it will be different live. I guess I was hoping for something more upbeat and edgy. This is more like Apocalypse Slow Dance than Apocalypse Calypso.
  9. Oh yes, there are some horrible lyrics we could discuss. On the other hand, he can come up with some wonderful lines.
  10. You wouldn't say "a plan of me". You'd say "a plan of mine", or more likely, "my plan".
  11. I'm not American, but it's "over". Breaking your heart over someone is a common expression. Break your heart of me doesn't make sense in English (or American).
  12. Well, there might be .... but I guess we will have to wait until Mika explains it to us!
  13. Graham Roos was involved in a project with The Guardian newspaper and the Royal Opera House called "Songs of the Zeitgeist" which I think was about turning headlines into songs. It's possible that Mika saw a performance of this. Apocalypse Calypso followed on from this and again Mika may have read the book But I have a sneaking feeling that Mika just liked the sound of the words rather than there being a particular reason for choosing the name (much like the Imaginarium Tour).
  14. Calypso music is upbeat but the lyrics are usually a satirical look at a topical subject.
  15. And of course there was a limit to how many posts could be in a thread, so there was a reason to keep starting new ones.
  16. Yes - but look at how many active fans there were then. (Though I seem to remember most of the posts and screenshots were from DA )
  17. Apocalypse Calypso is also the title of a book of poems by Graham Roos, though I think it might be out of print.
  18. Bonne anniversaire :happybday:

  19. Has to be the Pangbourne Cheese Shop (cheese-etc.co.uk) but their delivery charge is about £6 I think
  20. Some of the best cheeses in the world are made with unpasteurised milk: Roquefort, Wensleydale, Epoisses, Pecorino, Parmesan, Manchego, Morbier, Appenzeller, Reblochon, Emmental, not to mention all the artisan versions of Cheddar, Red Leicester, Double Gloucester etc. Basically raw milk makes better flavoured cheese. An aged cheese (older than 60 days) is unlikely to have any harmful bacteria, if that is what worries you.
